We are currently recruiting for an Equipment technician in an 12-month contract role to support our engineering department in Cork. The main responsibility of this role is the maintenance and troubleshooting of existing and new automation. A typical day to day, would include:

• Provide first response technical support to automated equipment.

• Responsible for defining maintenance and troubleshooting procedures of new equipment introduced to site.

• Assist Engineering in the installation and implementation of new equipment. Responsible for the provision of equipment training to the wider engineering team.

• Daily reporting into Engineering on all activities and highlighting concerns early.
• Responsible for investigating and documenting process issues and report to Engineering all findings and solutions.
• Support safety risk assessments for any new equipment introduced.
• Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to established and evolving Alcon QS requirements.
• Assigned work adheres to H&S and environmental requirements.
• Order and maintain stocks of spares and components.
• Carry out modifications and upgrades.

What you'll bring to the role:

• A minimum Level 7 qualification in an Engineering or Technical discipline
• Strong technical ability and automation experience would be preferred.
• Ability to trouble-shoot equipment issues.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Good problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of ISO, FDA, GMP standards.

Position Summary
Provides technical support relating to equipment utilised in the manufacturing areas by repairing, maintaining, or modifying production equipment utilising technical expertise, technical manuals, schematic drawings, precision tools, and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of automation systems inc. FAT / SAT and Equip. Qual. activities
• Automated Equipment Optimization: Monitor, analyze, and improve the performance of CLN's automated systems to ensure consistent product quality and equipment uptime.
• Responds to assembly line equipment repair calls, by diagnosing equipment problems, and performing the necessary repair. Execution and improvement of preventive and predictive maintenance programs for automated equipment.
• Documents equipment qualifications and upgrades made to existing machines, including preventative maintenance performed and parts used, to ensure appropriate documentation of repair history in Asset Management Integrating Global Operations.
• Participate in tiered performance meetings to report on equipment status, escalate issues, and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
• Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved automated equipment, for automation programs and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company. Prepares reports, publishes, and makes presentations to communicate findings.
• Analyses and solves equipment performance problems from basic engineering principles, theories and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and new innovative approaches or a major breakthrough in technology.
• Understands Automation engineering principles theories, concepts, practices and techniques. Develops knowledge in the Automation field to become a recognised leader or authority.
• Review and refine spare parts lists to ensure availability of critical components while minimizing inventory costs.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in automation technology and industry trends.

Qualifications

• (Experience/Education). National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline and 6+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• (Technical/Business Knowledge) Applies extensive knowledge of complex technical concepts and practices, and a complete understanding of product or systems fundamentals in a functional area, and working knowledge of other related disciplines. Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, SCADA Systems, EtherCAT Networks, Servo Controllers and robotics. Utilises/ interprets advanced numerical and statistical data and/ or computer software programs to present documentation and analysis and resolve production, technical, or systems problems. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
• (Cognitive Skills) Performs extremely complex or specialised technical assignments usually in the nature of projects, requiring working independently. May design, develop, or modify area-specific equipment, materials, systems, and/or product. Manufacturing Equipment Technician
is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Galway based client. The Line Equipment Technician is a key function in the successful operation of the manufacturing line. Their function is to be the SME for Equipment primary and support processes within the Manufacturing area. The role requires the technician to be an ever-present support to the area, providing value add technical expertise to equipment issue resolution but also maintaining a state of operation at all time. The Technician will own the downtime of Equipment metric and the product yields. The technician will be responsible for maintaining these metrics to target, through effective monitoring and evaluation/analysis of the process and the equipment to ensure optimal product output.

• Take ownership and responsibility for the technical performance/reliability of equipment to target zero downtime in the technician's area relating to equipment fault through proactive equipment management.

• A continuous improvement mindset is a must and always working towards this goal in a structured manner.
• Constantly evaluate equipment and process inputs/outputs to ensure optimal visual and functional product performance and take action before it impacts on uptime or yield.
• Complete PMs on time and offer improvements when found deficient, to ensure optimal equipment performance at all times.
• Identify requirements for jigs/fixtures to improve work station efficiency or yield improvement and carry through into manufacturing through the approval process, with supporting data on the potential gains to be achieved.
• Ensure tooling including mandrels/trim fixtures etc. are available to the line when required and are in optimal working order and fit for purpose.
• Ensure and maintain a sufficient Kanban and robust process for consumable equipment spares in CER to minimise downtime.
• Support onboarding of new technician hires when required.
• Be fully competent in manufacturing product through all work steps and in identifying Accept and Reject samples for all steps. Understand the intended use of product and the impact of defects to functionality of product. Perform functional testing of product where required.
• Continually review the manufacturing process for improper application of work methods and equipment settings.
• Communicate promptly, clearly and effectively at all times, to the Line Lead and Line Support Technician with regard to equipment and process issues with a clear plan for resolution that is data driven.
• Support for equipment introduction in CERs and completing and maintaining accurate up-to-date documentation (EIQ's, PMs, etc).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Requires a Level 6 Higher Certificate, or above in Engineering or equivalent (preferably Mechanical, Mechatronics or Automation Engineering).
• Minimum 5 years experience in a technical role in a similar field is required, demonstrated experience with automated equipment maintenance is an advantage.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex machine faults through experience with electrical and pneumatic systems.

Job Responsibilities:

• Install milking parlours and associated equipment efficiently and effectively.
• Conduct regular servicing and maintenance of milking machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with dairy farm milking plants as they arise.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
• Utilize welding and fabrication skills to assist with equipment installations and repairs.
• Understand and interpret electrical systems related to dairy equipment.

Essential Qualifications:

Desired Experience:

• Minimum experience of 3 years in a related field.
• Up to 14 years of experience is acceptable for highly skilled candidates.
