Position Description ESB Telecoms Ltd. (ESBT), a wholly owned subsidiary of ESB, develops, operates and maintains a national telecommunications infrastructure and is an independent wholesale provider of telecommunications services in the Irish market. The network comprises of an Optical Fibre Transport Layer and Tower infrastructure linking sites in many of Ireland's major cities and towns. The Design Engineer will be a member of the Engineering Team in the Active Equipment (AE) Group in ESBT and will report to the AE Engineering Team Leader. They will be responsible for the ongoing engineering requirements to design and develop ESBT's telecoms network. Key Responsibilities Design and development of the telecom's transmission network, including solutions for new products and services as identified by ESBT's Business Development Team. Developing technology roadmaps, including technology trials and proofs of concepts for telecommunications solutions. Completion and evaluation of tendersfor the procurement of telecoms equipment and services, including writing vendor approval papers. Draft and maintain engineering and other business-relevant processes, and compile regular reports on telecoms network performance. Provide technical support to ESBT's Sales Team, both pre- and after-sales, including remote support during installation and troubleshooting. Analyse customer business requirements, tailor service offerings, manage supplier contracts and relationships, and project manage major network projects within budget and scope. Good understanding and experience of Performance Management requirements, tools and systems associated with such networks. Experience of NMS (Network Management Systems) associated with such networks. Have working knowledge of programming languages such as Python. Have certification in fibre characterisation. Key Responsibilities Depending on the specific role, responsibilities may include: Data Analytics: Data gathering, scrubbing, analysis, dashboard design and production, and reporting. Project Management: Supporting project management systems, assisting with IT investment projects, and providing administrative support. IT Support: Assisting with IT on-boarding/off-boarding, device compliance, issue resolution, and user support for Microsoft365 tools. Process Development: Developing efficient processes for documentation, updating dashboards, and creating intuitive storage systems. Cybersecurity: Assuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT and digital systems, managing processes, policies, and technical controls. Qualifications and Skills: To succeed in this role, you should possess: To be working towards a degree in IT, Computer Sciences, Business Information Systems, Data analytics, Innovation and Technology courses, Digital Business and Innovation Courses. Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a dynamic team environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good documentation & presentation skills Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point). Knowledge of SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, and other relevant technologies is desirable. Location: Positions available nationwide. Contract This is a fixed-term contract position, offering valuable experience and exposure within ESB's IT function.
