As an Amazon Fleet Remediation Engineering Manager, you will manage a team that provides full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from project design inception through site improvement. You will be the 'go to' engineering resource for your region to design projects that remediate issues found within our data center fleet. You will use your subject matter expertise and engage with diverse teams to:
- Hire employees that demonstrate Amazon Leadership Principles
- Manage team and individual performance, including promotions
- Make trade-offs on competing business needs using high judgement
- Identify areas of growth for the team. Identifying resource requirements and gaps. Establishing a clear growth plan and development strategy for each team member.
- Drive strategic communication, provides a technical strategy with limited guidance within their assigned Region.
- Manage up to 10 team members with varying technical experience
- Find a path forward in difficult situations. Handle escalations.
- Make trade-offs: short-term team needs and long-term business needs. Knows how to scope a project. Is able to discern, which features are essential, can be triaged, or omitted.
- Clear, concise, accurate communication (both verbal and written), and to what levels that communication routinely occurs.

Key job responsibilities
- Establish, create, and/or streamline metrics, development, engineering, test, and operational excellence best practices. Share best practices with peers to drive efficiencies in repeatable work.
- Influence strategic direction of the Team. Influence roadmaps of other teams that overlap in business or technical domains.
- Work directly with partner teams to implement new and improve existing processes and procedures, within their region and propagate globally where necessary.
- Drive engineering processes to improve operational excellence with customer interaction, development methodology, working with other teams.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3+ cumulative years managing an engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Are able to identify high performance and lead a group of high powered engineers
- Organized and have the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budget
- Possess excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards
- Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers
- Ability to develop solutions and execute plans on complex projects
