Operations

Finance
Finance is a support function to all staff to enable effective management and operation of child & family services. Finance comes under the remit of the National Director for Finance & Corporate Services. The National Finance team are based in Brunel with Regional offices around the country.

The Packaging department in Gilead Cork, is a fast paced environment that performs both primary and secondary packaging activities to meet our patient needs. Primary packaging involves both bottle and blister packaging technology, the secondary packaging covers bottles, vials and blister presentations into cartons as a finished good for patients. The technology used is state of the art including track and trace (anti counterfeiting), high levels of automation and vision systems as well as a key focus on process optimisation, operational excellence and data analytics. This role will develop their knowledge of how GMP is applied within a busy pharmaceutical environment and to better understand the relationship between QA and other functions .
The successful candidate will gain access to various electronic systems used for supporting production processes. They will be involved in metric gathering and reporting on the Quality System at Gilead Sciences, Cork
Key Responsibilities
- Develop your communication skills as you collaborate and work closely with other team members within QA and also with teams across Gilead Sciences Cork.
- Trained and working on QA activities and processes where you will hone your review skills, develop your attention to detail and work as a part of a team to help ensure Gilead's patients receive high quality medicines.
- Involved in general QA activities across the three rotations such as SOP writing, supporting internal audits and walkthroughs and involvement in deviation investigations.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- A minimum 2.1 level 8 degree in a related area such as Science or Engineering.
- Good problem solving and attention to detail.
- Highly adaptable and displaying good initiative.
- Strong communication, team player and ability to build effective relationships.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

JOB SUMMARY:
This is an exciting early-career opportunity for a recent graduate in Fashion, Design, or a related field to join Portwest's dynamic Product Development team. The role is part of a structured two-year program that includes immersive training in Westport followed by a 6–12 month international secondment in one of our sourcing offices or commercial markets. You will be responsible for developing products from concept to launch while learning the fundamentals of global product lifecycle management in a leading international workwear and PPE company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Year 1:
- Join a specified range team and learn best practices in product management, development, and commercialization.
- Take ownership of a small product range with guidance from senior team members; create and implement improvement and growth strategies.
- Participate in the full product lifecycle — from ideation to product launch.
- Create and maintain product specifications under senior supervision.
- Present new product ideas and innovations to senior stakeholders.

Year 2 - International Secondment (6–12 Months)

- Commercial Secondment: Spend time in a key international market (e.g., USA or Australia) to gain first-hand insight into customer needs, market dynamics, and regional product adaptation.
Throughout this period, you will remain an active member of your dedicated range team and continue contributing to product development projects remotely or on-site.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
- Degree in Fashion Design, Technical Garment Construction, Textiles, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 1 years' experience in a related field (internships included).
- Exposure to product development, garment construction, or fabric technology is an advantage.

Role Overview
As a Graduate Automation Engineer, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems across the pharmaceutical manufacturing site. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and compliant operation of PLC/SCADA -controlled equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
- Support automation projects including upgrades, modifications, and new installations.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure systems meet GMP and regulatory requirements.
