Be working closely with experienced Sustainability Professionals and Building Services Engineers to:

  • Undertake Thermal and Building Regulation Compliance modelling using IESVE or other similar software.

  • Prepare and input to decarbonisation strategies for buildings with respect to both operational efficiency and adoption of renewable energy technologies.

  • Carry out analysis of new technologies and how they can be incorporated into our projects to ensure a sustainable and robust design.

  • Problem solve, analyse data, and compile findings in technical reports.

  • Showcase designs and findings to clients through presentations, and collaboration.

We have an opportunity for a Graduate to join our team for a 2 year programme, working within the Packaging department of our Manufacturing function and rotating to key relevant areas as below. Throughout this time, the successful candidate will be developed and mentored to aid your on the job learning.

The Packaging department in Gilead Cork, is a fast paced environment that performs both primary and secondary packaging activities to meet our patient needs. Primary packaging involves both bottle and blister packaging technology, the secondary packaging covers bottles, vials and blister presentations into cartons as a finished good for patients. The technology used is state of the art including track and trace (anti counterfeiting), high levels of automation and vision systems as well as a key focus on process optimisation, operational excellence and data analytics. The packaging department interacts with all other departments on site and with our distribution center in Dublin.

This role covers both the Engineering and Operations activities and offers a graduate the opportunity to work with many departments including Engineering, Quality, Automation, Validation & Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will rotate into key areas, building responsibility and experience in the below:

  • Develop experience in, support and be responsible for areas as appropriate across Operations, cGMP, process and mechanical engineering, serialisation and aggregation, data analytics and problem solving, packaging engineering and material sciences.

As a Graduate within our Development and Technical Services Department, you will have the opportunity to develop fundamental skills related to the manufacture of Oral Solid Dose Products including drug product formulation and process development, Quality by Design (QbD), oversight of GMP drug product manufacturing, global regulatory requirements and the application of operation excellence methodologies to problem solving and process improvement projects.

The role offers potential development opportunities to the candidate in the following related functions: Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Validation.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will rotate into key areas, building responsibility and experience in the below:

  • Supports the technical transfer of new products to site.
  • Contributes to the completion of all technical support activities related to maintaining commercial product supplies.
  • Contributes to and may lead complex processes across functions and interacts effectively with the other team members to ensure product meets regulatory, performance and cost requirements.
  • Contributes to and may lead technical investigations of process deviations and assessment of their impact on product quality.
  • Defines requirements for and reviews master batch records.
  • Conducts non-routine analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished product samples.
  • Troubleshoots instrumentation such as particle size analyzers or other measurement devices used in material characterization.
  • Assists in the training of manufacturing technicians as needed.
  • Applies knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • Writes and executes SOPs, protocols and reports.
  • Supports yield improvements on site.
  • Supports qualification of new excipients and APIs to site.
  • Identifies new technologies to support site requirements.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • A minimum 2.1 level 8 degree in a related area such as Science, Process, Chemical or Biopharmaceutical Engineering.
  • Good problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Highly adaptable and displaying good initiative.
  • Strong communication, team player and ability to build effective relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate to join our team on a 2-year programme within the Supply Chain function. During this time, the successful candidate will receive development and mentorship to support their on-the-job learning.

The Supply Chain function at Gilead Sciences Ireland Manufacturing spans two sites: the Manufacturing/Packaging facility in Cork and the Distribution Centre in Dublin. The Cork site includes sub-functions such as Planning, Purchasing, Labelling Operations, and Warehousing, while the Dublin site covers Distribution, Customer Services, and Logistics.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will acquire valuable experience across key areas, taking on responsibilities in the following:

Planning and Inventory Management:

  • Assist in the execution of planning and purchasing activities for raw materials and consumables, ensuring timely availability of the right quantities.
  • Optimize inventory levels, ensuring smooth material flow while considering warehouse capacities and inventory targets to avoid storage disruptions, minimize costs, and prevent material wastage or scrapping.
  • Identify, support, and implement continuous improvement initiatives across material planning and purchasing processes.

Label Operations:

  • Provide support for artwork updates and product launch activities, ensuring deadlines are met and no launch dates are missed.

Key Project Support:

  • Assist with additional Project Coordinator responsibilities.
  • Support the development of Change Controls, Deviations, CAPA's, Change Assessments, ASPVM updates, and updates to SOPs and processes.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

The focus of the Quality Assurance team at Gilead Sciences Cork is on ensuring the high quality of the products we make for our patients by implementing and overseeing processes and systems to meet GMP and compliance requirements. The Quality Assurance team at Gilead Sciences, Cork is divided into different functional groups with the successful graduate having the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in three of these groups. We use various electronic systems in our daily roles such as electronic documentation, quality system and training systems (Trackwise and VeevaVault).

This role will develop their knowledge of how GMP is applied within a busy pharmaceutical environment and to better understand the relationship between QA and other functions .

The successful candidate will gain access to various electronic systems used for supporting production processes. They will be involved in metric gathering and reporting on the Quality System at Gilead Sciences, Cork

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop your communication skills as you collaborate and work closely with other team members within QA and also with teams across Gilead Sciences Cork.
  • Trained and working on QA activities and processes where you will hone your review skills, develop your attention to detail and work as a part of a team to help ensure Gilead's patients receive high quality medicines.
  • Involved in general QA activities across the three rotations such as SOP writing, supporting internal audits and walkthroughs and involvement in deviation investigations.
