Key Responsibilities
- Perform minor plumbing tasks (fix leaks, clear blockages, replace taps)
- Carry out basic electrical repairs and installations (replace outlets, fixtures, switches)
- Handle painting, patching, caulking, and decorative touch-ups
- Tiling, repair, small areas (splash back, shower)
- Assemble and install flat-pack furniture, shelving, blinds, and curtain rails
- Conduct simple carpentry work (repair /fit doors, fit skirting boards, replace fence panels)
- Hang pictures, TV brackets, mirrors
- Minor plastering and blockwork (patching, rebuilding)
- Maintain tools, keep work areas clean, and dispose of waste responsibly
Qualifications and Requirements
- Fluent in English
- Minimum of 2 years' hands-on experience in property maintenance or handyman work
- Proficient in basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and decorating tasks
- Owns a comprehensive set of tools
- Full clean driving licence
- Own van an advantage but not essential
- Strong attention to quality, detail and commitment to health and safety standards
- Excellent customer-facing communication skills

Contract Type: Permanent Full Time
Contract Hours: 39 hrs per week
Salary Scale: The current salary scale for this post is €31,329 to €34,832 pro rata per annum.
This pay scale is subject to increases in 2025 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations
Annual Leave: Annual leave entitlement is 30 days pro rata per annum and proportionately less for less than 12 months service.
Overview of the Post:
The Facilities Maintenance Worker will be responsible for the general maintenance and repairs of the building, the hydrotherapy pool, plant room areas and grounds at Enable Ireland Cavan Services. They will also provide pool attendant duties for which specific training will be provided if required. This role is to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities to a high standard, in compliance with Health & Safety legislation and protocols

The successful candidate will have:
Essential Criteria:
3 years' experience working in a similar role
Have a background in maintenance or building services
Excellent written, numeric and verbal skills
Good IT Skills with experience of using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel (or similar); email
Be eligible to work in the state
Full Drivers Licence with access to own transport
Desirable Criteria:
Trades qualification, e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical.
Knowledge / Experience of Pool Plant management including water treatment procedures
Qualification in water safety
Pool Lifeguard Qualification
First Aid Training
