We are currently looking for a HSE Consultants to join our team in Dublin.

Working pattern: Monday-Friday

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Developing and administering procedures to ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislative requirements and corporate Environmental and Health & Safety policy;
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of ISO45001, ISO14001 & ISO9001 as part of the Integrated Management system
  • Conducting and reviewing risk assessments
  • Co-ordinate, developing and delivering training to staff in core H&E subjects
  • Management and development of site Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan
  • Providing health and safety advice and support on site / client projects
  • Investigation and formal recording and reporting of accidents or incidents onsite or on client sites
  • Preparing health and safety documentation required for site projects (PSDP/PSCS duties)
  • Ensuring contractor safety management arrangements are established and implemented
  • Maintaining close liaison with facilities, technical and administrative staff to ensure implementation of regulations pertaining to Health and Safety
  • Work closely with senior managers and provide advice where necessary;
  • Maintaining systems of auditing in accordance with current Environmental & Health and Safety legislation and Corporate procedures
  • Maintain and administer HSEQ software systems around document control, auditing, incident reporting etc;

Requirements:

  • Minimum level 7 degree or higher diploma in H&S
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a customer service driven environment
  • Experience working with management systems i.e. ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO9001
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, with problem solving skills and be innovative
  • Membership of IOSH (or working towards) or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft IT applications
  • Full Clean Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
  • Flexibility to travel as required

Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Coordinator

The QHSE Coordinator is to assist the QHSE Manager to ensure that the business meets its regulatory and internal standards for quality, health and safety, and environmental performance. The role involves co-ordinating various QHSE initiatives, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and driving improvements in these areas across Johnsons Ireland sites in Wexford, Naas and Belfast.

Johnsons Celtic Linen is certified to three standards: ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001 Management Systems and EN 14065 Risk Analysis & Bio-contamination Control System (RABC).

Reporting to the QHSE Manager, the QHSE Coordinator will work closely with the QHSE/SHEQ Officers and assist in the development of the QHSE Ireland team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality, Environmental & RABC Management:
  • Assist in developing and maintaining quality, environmental and RABC management systems. In particular, co-ordinating the implementation of standards at different sites.
  • Ensure regular internal audits and inspections take place for compliance with standards.
  • Assist in external customer and certification body audits.
  • Prepare staged plans for the implementation of standards at non-certified sites.
  • Support the identification of quality, environmental & RABC system issues and work on solutions to improve processes.
  • Monitor performance indicators and prepare reports.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, sustainability goals and The Johnsons Way and promote initiatives for reducing the environmental footprint of the business.
  • Assist in monitoring, recording and evaluating environmental impacts and aspects.
  • Assist in RABC validation and protocols.
  • Assist in the development of QHSE related training materials and ensure all employees are aware of the QHSE standards and their responsibilities.

Health & Safety:

  • In conjunction with the QHSE Manager, ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and legislation.
  • Assist in the review and update of Health and Safety Statements, risk assessments, safety plans, SOP's and SSOW across all sites and maintain records of safety activities, incidents, and investigations.
  • Assist in the development and provision of health & safety related training and materials and ensure all employees are aware of Health & Safety Statement, risk assessments and procedures.
  • Assist in regular workplace safety inspections and audits to identify hazards.
  • Review accident/incident reports to ensure corrective and preventative are identified and result in a reduction in risk.
  • Work with QHSE and Management Teams to reduce accident/incident numbers and increase hazard/near miss reporting.
  • Assist in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks in the workplace.

Other

  • Serve as a point of contact for QHSE-related inquiries.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance if required.
  • Coordinate with internal departments in an effective and efficient manner to ensure the integration of QHSE practices.

Requirements :

  • Qualification to at least Diploma level in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Certification in QHSE-related areas (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 9001, ISO is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in a QHSE role, with knowledge of quality management systems, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards is essential.
  • Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements in health, safety, and environmental areas.
  • Ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and maintain records.
  • Proven excellent organizational and project management skills.

About the Role:

Reporting to the HSE Manager this person's primary objective will be to provide Health, Safety and Environmental advice to Management & colleagues. The successful candidate will fulfil project EH&S requirements by use of applicable EH&S procedures, tools and methods. (Safety case regime, risk assessment, H&S plans, investigations, reporting).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promoting awareness of HM&V Engineering and Customer EH&S requirements throughout the organization.
  • Reviews with Senior Management Team, the EH&S system as and when required.
  • Establishes and maintains the documents and data control system.
  • Manage and support the internal EH&S audit plans and coordinates internal and external audits.
  • Initiates follow-up audit activities to verify audits and record the implementation and effectiveness of the corrective and preventive actions taken.
  • Reports the final result of the internal and external audits to the EH&S Manager.
  • Verifies the HSE system manual and procedures.
  • Ensure HSE Management system has been fully implemented.
  • Supervise and monitor the employees and sub-contractors working on site to ensure their adherence to the EH&S Manual, EH&S Induction Handbook and the waste management procedures.
  • Represent the organization on the project site for any EH&S related matters.
  • Have the authority to STOP immediately any work, activity on the project and instruct and assist the management and any subcontractors in taking urgent action to make the site safe and to prevent unsafe working practices.
  • Carry out EH&S site inspections in association with site staff to ensure compliance to the EH&S management system, legal and other requirements and customer's HSE related contractual requirements.
  • Conduct incident investigations to determine the root causes and recommend means of preventing recurrence in consultation with Management.
  • Record and analyses information on first aid cases, near misses, injuries, damages and losses and review the overall HSE performance during project execution.
  • Conduct the HSE induction training for employees and subcontractor staff on-site.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Health and Safety.
  • Minimum 1-2 years EH&S experience within the construction industry.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management systems and standards, including ISO procedures and implementation.
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively, maintaining integrity under internal and external pressures.

  • Ensure projects operate in compliance with all statutory requirements and best practice.
  • Highlight and Advise on Health and safety related issues from preconstruction to completion of all associated project works.
  • Attend Start Up meetings with site teams and be an active participant.
  • Facilitate internal and external inspections/ audits and ensure the timely close out of any issues arising.
  • Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior company management.

To Be Considered

  • Building Construction site project experience
  • Third level qualification in EHS or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience working on commercial/construction projects.
