About Opportunity: Global Cybersecurity (GCS) protects State Street and its clients from the impact of cyber-attacks against systems by understanding the risks these attacks present and mitigating them through a robust, continuously evolving, cybersecurity program and control environment. Cyber Identity & Access Management (IAM) is one of five functions that make up GCS. IAM designs, deploys, and continually enhances security measures for the protection of State Street's information related to its assets and customers. This IAM Risk and Controls SME, VP will sit in the GCS cyber office of CISO sub-function in IAM. This role is responsible for ensuring the robust and effective implementation of CIAM-related controls across the enterprise with deep understanding of CIAM principles, technologies and best practices, as well as strong leadership skills. Other responsibility areas are listed below. Responsibilities: Serve as the primary SME on all aspects of CIAM related controls. Coordinate CIAM related response for audit, regulatory and other reviews Maintain a deep understanding of industry best practices, regulatory requirements and emerging threats related to CIAM. Provide expert guidance and consultation to internal teams and stakeholders on CIAM control implementation and compliance. Prepare and present audit findings and regularity reports. Review, analyze and evaluate the audit and assessment findings. Coordinate with relevant SMEs to develop and evaluate proposed remediation plans with CIAM standards and technical requirement. Identify and address any gaps or inconsistencies between CIAM practices and standards. Assign and delegate tasks related to CIAM control implementation and remediation to IAM staff. Monitor and track the progress of assigned tasks and ensure timely completion. Ensure that all CIAM processes and controls adhere to established CIAM standards and technical standards. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of CIAM principles, technologies and best practices. Proven ability to coordinate and manage complex projects. Experience in audit and regulatory compliance. Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to CIAM. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. Relevant certifications are a plus. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. 10 -12 years of extensive experience in CIAM process and technologies. Cyber Architecture & Engineering (Cyber A&E) is one of five functions that make up GCS. Cyber A&E designs, architects, deploys, and continually enhances security measures for the protection of State Street's information related to its assets and customers. This PAM Governance Analyst will sit in the PAM Governance sub-function in Cyber A&E. This role is responsible for designing and maintaining automated and manual privileged access controls for all aspects of privileged access including non-human accounts and privileged human accounts. Our work requires us to think in terms of risk and design automation and procedures that will mitigate risks and maintain compliance for all PAM standards. About this role:

This role creates thought leading Identity and Access Management advice, delivered to our research and advisory clients through published research, conversations (client inquiry), stage presentations, teleconferences, and client meetings.It is important that you have a vision for how Identity and Access Management will evolve in the digital enterprise.

We look for experience in deployment and operational management of Identity and Access Management technologies such as Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) and Consumer IAM tools, as well as general knowledge of IAM marketplaces and solutions.

What you'll do:

As a Gartner analyst you will meet with clients every day: on the phone, in a videoconference, from the stage at a Gartner event or face-to-face during a sales support visit. In every client interaction analysts help clients solve difficult security issues. You will:

  • Conduct research and analysis in specific areas of Identity and Access Management technologies and services

  • Provide guidance to clients that are selecting, deploying, and operating Identity and Access Management technologies and services in both corporate and cloud environments.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a globally distributed team of analysts.

  • Deliver high quality actionable advice through a variety of media.

  • Write clear, actionable, advisory research documents.

  • Predict how IAM markets are developing to help clients in their selection process and assist vendors in market positioning.

  • Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within your coverage areas as well as adjacent areas.

  • Respond to client questions, create materials for clients and deliver in person, via teleconference, video conference or webinar and event presentations.

What you'll need:

Gartner analysts are correctly viewed as THE experts. This means you need to know your markets, vendors, trends, management practices, etc. and be able to see the forest and the trees. Most Gartner analysts have many years of experience and enjoy solving puzzles.

Specific coverage areas for the IAM Director Analyst include (but are not limited to) planning, development, deployment, operations, products and services, and trends as a primary analyst in the following coverage areas:

  • Identity Governance and Administration tools: knowledge of the product market, best practices for requirements definitions and technology selection, and best practices for deployment and governance.

  • Externalized authorization management (EAM) tools, which provide decoupled runtime controls for fine-grained authorization: knowledge of the product market, best practices for requirements definitions and technology selection, and best practices for deployment and governance.

The analyst should also have subject matter expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Access management (AM): software and cloud-based services that use access control engines to provide centralized authentication, single sign-on (SSO), session management and authorization enforcement for target applications in multiple use cases.

  • Privileged Access Management (PAM) - tools and techniques for managing and monitoring privileged accounts and access.

  • Machine Identity Management, certificate-based identity/PKI, secrets management


In addition, the analyst should have expertise in or general familiarity with the following topics:

  • Best practices for general IAM technology selection, procurement, and implementation and for IAM operations and governance

  • IAM program management and governance, including vision and strategic planning; talent management; developing policies; controls and operational process; program maturity assessment.

  • Modern digital identity approaches like Identity Wallets/Decentralized Identity (DCI)/Bring Your Own Identity (BYOI)


Also, the following general skills and experience are required:

  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to apply conceptual models, and to recognize patterns while drawing and defending conclusions.

  • Articulate and succinct communication skills. Experience in speaking engagements is an advantage.

  • 10 years + experience in a research or technology related role.
