Job Description
As a Principal Design Architect, you will be part of different phases of the development process, interacting closely with other teams, like Design and Application Engineering. You will have the responsibility to define the architecture of the products to fulfill certain requirements.
In your new role you will:
- Define the micro-architectures for our upcoming families of Automotive Microcontrollers, with particular attention to embedded Audio Subsystems (Voice Det, Noise Cancellation, Interfaces), Communication Subsystems (e.g. Ethernet, CAN, FlexRay), Memory Subsystems (Flash, SRAM, RRAM, External DDR)
- Collaborate with experienced Architects and RTL designers to assess the feasibility of ideas, refine ideas, and seed new ones
- Analyze domain-specific workloads to identify performance and power bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement
- Work closely with a diverse and dispersed team, so you must have strong communication, influence, and negotiation skills
Your Profile
You are a result-oriented person with a problem-solving mindset. You are quality-oriented and self-motivated, and remain focused on solutions even in complex situations. You will be setting direction. Therefore, you must be comfortable in an environment of uncertainty and be able to work through ambiguities. We are data-driven and believe in the power of individuals proving their own ideas, so it is great if you have hands-on experience with high-level simulators for performance and power estimation.
You are best equipped for this task if you have:
- A University Degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering
- Approximately 10+ years of experience and knowledge of digital micro-architecture concepts as well as deep expertise in one or more focused areas (e.g., signal processing, automotive communication protocols) or CPU subsystem areas (e.g., bus infrastructure, memory subsystem design)
- Experience with embedded CPUs (e.g. Arm Cortex, ARC, RISC-V) and AHB/AXI interconnects would be beneficial
- Knowledge of Functional Safety and/or cybersecurity concepts (ISO 26262, ISO 21434)
- Proficiency in digital design and HDL capture (e.g., Verilog, VHDL, System Verilog)
- Proficiency in software programming languages (e.g., C, C++)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python)
- Knowledge and experience with common performance benchmarks and workloads

- Working in partnership with AWS Engineering leads to schedule project engineering resources and Create, review and release RFPs for engagement of external design vendor, including review bids and make recommendations
- As CSA Design lead on Data Centre projects will Manage our external design consultants through the design and construction process ensuring high standards of deliverables complete on schedule.
- Co-ordinate and manage the input of internal structural, architectural and civil engineers during design and at design deliverable review
- Co-ordinate and manage the input of permitting lead
- Coordinate with internal and external Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Fire and Cabling design engineers;
- Influence and manage deviations to the AWS reference design based on localisation and site specific and internal customer needs
- Creating and tracking metrics related to cost, quality and duration of design
- Collecting data from operations, construction and commissioning teams as designs are implemented.
- Create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction;
- Think outside of the box to find innovative solutions during design and during the construction to comply with local regulations and reduce costs without negative impacts on quality or reliability.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering & 5 years working experience with 3 years experience in design of industrial or mission critical facilities
- Experience co-ordinating design with MEP engineering disciplines and the design co-ordination required with MEP on industrial facilities.
- Expertise in creating, reviewing and approving C, S or A designs and documentation.
- Experience in building permitting and fire permitting either by inputting by discipline or leading
- Ability to develop new design concepts and problem solving through exploration, design, testing and deployment
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Certificate
- Vendor and consultant management skills
- Knowledge of building codes and construction techniques
- Managing a discipline design team and co-ordinating design inputs from other disciplines
- Expertise in creating, reviewing and approving design vendor RFP, bids, design budgets
