Senior Insurance Manager/Associate Director

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Are you an experienced Captive, Insurance or Underwriting professional with experience of the functions of a regulated insurance or reinsurance company? Are you interested in growing the scope of your knowledge and capabilities in a role which will provide cross-functional exposure across the range of finance, underwriting, claims, compliance and risk management functions reporting to the Board of Directors?

This is a role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Dublin office.

About Aon Captive Insurance Management

Aon's Captive and Insurance Management team is one of the world's leading captive and insurance management service providers. Our team provides outsourced management services to over 1,300 insurance entities across 30 offices globally and in Ireland comprises a dedicated team of 60 people providing best-in-class captive outsourced management services, across all functions, to 40 captive insurance and reinsurance companies.

What the day will look like

As an Associate Director & Client Relationship Lead, you will lead Aon Captive Management service teams to deliver top quality captive management services to a number of our client captive insurance and reinsurance companies. You will also be a member of our Senior Leadership Team responsible for delivering financial and business results in line with our strategic objectives.

You will be responsible for the following tasks, for a number of our captive insurance/reinsurance clients:

  • Leading a client service team, ranging typically from 5 to 7 people, to ensure the delivery of high-quality captive management and advisory services
  • Coordinate the insurance, claims and financial and regulatory reporting requirements for clients
  • Prepare high quality reports and present to the Board of Directors
  • Coordinate client projects and initiatives and drive all assigned projects to conclusion
  • Identify Aon solutions to meet client needs and proactively seek out revenue growth opportunities

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Possess strong client servicing skills
  • Hold a relevant professional qualification (Accounting, Insurance or Risk Management)
  • Have a minimum of 8 years relevant post-qualified experience (within or supporting a regulated insurance company/reinsurance company/captive insurance company or similar regulated financial services entity)
  • Have a solid understanding of the financial reporting, regulatory and compliance environment which governs insurance and reinsurance companies and/or captives
  • Have a solid understanding of the principles of risk finance
  • Possess strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Possess the ability to develop and lead a team
  • Possess good commercial awareness

Join us as a Relationship Director- Insurance and Funds Ireland where you will be responsible for helping to implement the NBFI European business plan in Dublin, assuming responsibilities for new and existing clients, identifying new corridor revenue opportunities and building a book of locally-based clients on a highly selective basis.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A track record and experience of business building and growth in the NBFI sectors with a proven ability to manage complex and relentless change
  • Knowledge of complex Corporate Banking product suite including Debt, Trade and Working Capital, Cash and transactional products and FX;
  • A strong understanding of fund finance and in particular, subscription line/capital call facilities is highly desired as our Netherlands office is increasingly active in this space
  • An understanding of Financing Needs for Insurance clients including Debt and Trade Finance Solutions
  • Understanding of the Financial Crime risks associated with dealing with clients in the regulated payments (Fintech) sector and appropriate governance and controls to manage this risk
  • Broad knowledge of risk management and control and accounting policies and financial control
  • International experience is particularly valuable
  • Fluent in business English
  • Experience working on Account Bank Roles within Securitised Products
  • Cross-border payments experience

Desirable skills include:

  • Non-Banking Financial Institutions (NBFI ) experience within a global corporate banking organisation, especially within a division active in Fund Finance, Insurance
  • Ability to work within a small, but ambitious local team where flexibility and adaptability are key qualities
  • Leadership and management of others.
  • Understanding of NBFI market, the different client types we serve.
  • Experience of dealing with High-Risk client sectors.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

This role is based in Dublin.

Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

  • Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs.
  • Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
  • Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
  • Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
  • Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses.
  • Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
  • Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.

  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
