Flogas is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Senior Trading Analyst to join our team. This critical role involves trading and managing the risk associated with a portfolio of renewable energy generation and customer supply positions. The successful candidate will play a key part in forecasting both short-term and long-term electricity and gas demand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimise day ahead and within day trading strategies of the demand and generation portfolios to help minimize costs through forecasting improvements and risk reduction strategies Actively trade a portfolio of renewable electricity generation assets and customer demand positions, optimizing financial outcomes and managing associated risks.
  • Oversee the training and development of junior team members.
  • Develop the team's capabilities to handle increasing supply and generation volumes, as well as new trading requirements from contractual agreements and market developments. Lead on the design and operational implementation of any changes to trading processes and reporting.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of ISEM markets and closely monitor regulatory decisions and market publications which shape market design. Provide insights regarding the impacts on Flogas' portfolio and potential changes to trading requirements.
  • Develop and enhance quantitative models, methodologies, analysis techniques, and software tools to support all areas of the business.
  • Execute forward trades in line with hedging strategies and provide input into improvements and refinements of said strategies.
  • Support the development of renewable PPA business line by exploring and implementing innovative PPA trading solutions such as a wind to baseload products and building up a knowledge of the key market structures affecting these assets.
  • Regular monitoring of forecasting models and errors including reporting on the power portfolio's performance.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate holds a primary degree or postgraduate qualification in a technical field such as computer science, natural or environmental sciences, economics, engineering, or finance. They are an experience trader, ideally in the energy sector. They possess strong quantitative and analytical skills, with a good understanding of power systems, the energy industry, and commodity markets. Proficient in programming and database management, particularly in Excel, VBA, and SQL, they are detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of prioritising tasks effectively. Additionally, they bring a solid knowledge of IT systems and quantitative modelling experience in financial or commodity markets.

Overview In the world of asset management, data has never been more important - the differentiating factor between winning and losing. The big industry players with quite standardised portfolios have expansive systems in place for this. However, the likes of the family office or boutique investment houses with often less vanilla portfolios have, up to now, not really being catered to effectively. Within this gap in the market, a new funds FinTech player has developed a data platform that can bring disparate data streams together to aid performance monitoring, reporting and of course, to inform the investment decision. Your role will be tomanage the intersection between clients and their most optimal data sources. In short, youll be setting up and streamlining how they integrate with banks, pricing providers and other complex portfolio management systems. Core Competencies At a hands-on level,your bread & butter will be data feeds. That means liaising with technical specialists, assessing if FTP or STFP connections are set up correctly and generally figuring out how the flow of investment data into the platform will work best. To succeed at this will be more about your knowledge of funds, investment products and corporate actions and the investment sphere generally. This means leading the daily operations for data feeds andwhen something breaks down - figuring out how to fix it. Ensuring accuracy, speed and efficiency are core to operations - as they must be. In looking at the bigger picture, your role can be further broken down into 2 main areas - Product and Data Strategy. On the product side, youll betaking the lead on how the platform is set-up and working with clients to design a structure that delivers the type of insights and analytics they need. Youll be assessing both the data inputs that are needed and also how that translates to outputs in the form of reporting deliverables, how it syncs with accounting systems, etc. Further down the road, your focus will includespotting opportunities where the platform can drive automation. Your Key Responsibilities oversee the data-feed connections with banks/vendors, co-ordinating their set up, mapping their data model to the platform. ensure high quality, timely data is being effectively delivered every day and building the processes and systems to support this. help design the data model required to support investment reporting and financial/tax reporting for complex assets (PE, derivatives, etc). This being a data platform youll be ensuring it integrates well with complex portfolio management and ERP systems.
