Amazon Central Technical Operations Services (CTOS) maintains high availability for the Amazon Retail Website and is the team that provides the first line of incident response to protect it. We make customer impacting events shorter, less frequent, severe, and impactful by providing large scale incident and response management. The Amazon Retail Website has hundreds of millions of customers globally who can be impacted by these types of incidents; the work we do to mitigate them helps real people at a tremendous scale.
It is a complex and constantly changing space, operating across dozens of countries, consisting of thousands of cloud-based services, built and maintained by tens of thousands of engineers, and serving hundreds of millions of customers. When it experiences major issues, your team will respond within minutes to ensure the best course of action is taken and impacts are minimized. This experience will expose you to everything Amazon has to offer, providing opportunity to interact with leaders from across the Stores and Corporate businesses.
This position will be part of a globally distributed team of 45+ professionals across Seattle, Austin, Dublin, and Sydney providing around the clock coverage.
As a System Development Engineer, you will build tooling to automate the detection and resolution of issues within Amazon's Retail Website infrastructure. You will also spend a portion of your time of your time directing the resolution of high visibility incidents by leading conference calls, taking notes to collect data and help improve our processes. Using data and insights learned from those incidents you will drive further improvements into our automation, tooling, and processes so that the next event is shorter, less severe, or avoided entirely. You will participate on project teams to expand use of our tooling to additional areas across Amazon. This position will be part of a globally distributed team of 20+ engineers across Austin, Dublin, and Sydney to allow for 24x7 coverage. Each group will work 10-hour shifts for 4 days a week. Role Overview

After a very successful period of growth CL Re has developed a significant and diverse portfolio of reinsurance transactions. A significant project has now been commissioned to design, develop and implement an integrated suite of processes and systems that will give rise to an efficient, reliable, robust and scalable platform to support the Actuarial Function discharge its responsibilities. The platform will leverage existing processes and systems and be developed to support both the existing portfolio and the planned portfolio growth in the years ahead.

A bright, talented and motivated individual is sought to fill a Senior Actuary role on the Process and System Development team to undertake the project work. This role would suit an actuary who:

  • Is at ease working on deep technical matters and complex models.

What you will help us to achieve

In this role the successful candidate will:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Actuarial Function deliverables, the existing processes and systems, and the associated challenges and limitations.
  • In conjunction with the model development and data management leads, develop a clear vision for an integrated suite of modern actuarial reporting processes that enables the Actuarial Function effectively and efficiently produce its deliverables.
  • Work with the Actuarial teams, Actuarial Senior Management, and relevant subject matter experts to design and develop the optimal suite of processes and systems (i.e., the solution) to produce deliverables.
  • Develop co-ordinated and cohesive work plans to deliver the solution and provide accurate estimates for effort and timelines. Ensure that the benefits the solution gives rise to are clearly specified, carefully articulated and the means to realise them are understood and accepted as part of the delivery roadmap.
  • Carefully communicate the vision and the associated execution strategy to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Become an expert on the new processes and systems and ensure compliance with relevant Group policies, regulatory requirements (OSFI) and professional guidance.
  • Guide and oversee the Actuarial teams' migration across to the new processes and systems, ensuring the targeted benefits are fully realised across the Actuarial Function.
  • Support the development of an environment, and ultimately a culture, that encourages new approaches, challenges the status quo and inspires creativity. Explore the use of emerging technologies and develop an understanding of how they can be leveraged for actuarial processes.
What you will need to be successful in the role

The ideal candidate will have:
• Significant experience operating in an actuarial environment in an insurance or reinsurance company.

To oversea a team of AD scientist for method development/optimization, validation, transfer, Daily/weekly planning and execution of experiments.
To provide analytical expertise and technical support for all phases of drug development to support the introduction of new products, process development, plant investigations and regulatory activities.
To lead analytical projects for the introduction of new products to the Site, including method assessment, method development, validation/qualification and transfer.
To provide lead technical and analytical support to the team resolution of operational, technical and analytical issues within the Analytical Development (AD) laboratory.
To promote and supervise laboratory GMP / Safety within the Analytical Development (AD) group such that the AD laboratory is maintained as an inspection ready facility.

**Laboratory GMP Compliance**

+ Carry out calibration of equipment and analytical balances as required.
+ Ensure that the validation/calibration documentation associated with instrumentation is appropriately signed off before use.
+ Maintain good housekeeping standards. Carry out laboratory housekeeping audits and assigned self inspections in accordance with defined schedules. Complete assigned actions in a timely manner and report any deficiencies.
+ Participate in both internal and external audits as required.
+ Maintain individual training records on an ongoing basis.
+ Participate in the training of team members as appropriate.
+ File all data as appropriate and facilitate appropriate archiving.
**Technical Support or Troubleshooting for Existing Products**
+ Provide technical data/opinion to both internal and external customers where required.

Within Foundry, the Manager, Product Development will be supporting the execution of new to market product development - including the identification, execution, and in-market delivery of new products and solutions. - 4-5 years relevant work experience.
- Natural problem solver: analytical, curious, and fact-driven approach to product development.
- Collaborative team player: proven track record in collaborating with multiple cross-functional (both internal and external) teams across multiple locations; facilitating challenging conversations and managing ambiguity.
- Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Extensive experience in product development, including rapid opportunity assessment, concept creation, business model innovation, and global in-market testing.
- Strong background in translating stakeholder needs into functional specifications, user stories and process flows.
- Strategic thinker with strong technical acumen and hands-on experience collaborating with technical teams.

**To be successful in the role, you will have:**
+ **Proficiency in French (business level)**
+ Undergraduate degree or its international equivalent from an accredited institution required or equivalent experience
+ Inside sales experience or related experience that requires the employee to communicate with potential clients
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Must be familiar with maintaining and managing a customer relationship database
+ Good time management skills
+ Must be able to demonstrate persistence
