Role Profile
We have an opportunity in Dungarvan for a Laboratory Technician to join us on a fixed term contract. As a Lab technician, you will be working with a dedicated team of technicians, laboratory manager and team members to carry out a range of Chemistry and Microbiology analyses relevant to milk quality control and quality assurance.
Our laboratory is fully accredited to CLAS. We are committed to ensuring you are fully onboarded in our in-house training, the quality assurance system, accreditation process and internal audits.
Key Responsibilities
Raw Milk analysis including a range of:
- Chemistry methods including FTIR, Gerber, Kjeldahl; LCMS/MS;
- Antibiotic/ Inhibitor analysis;
- Microbiological methods including Testing of private well water, SPC, culture methods;
- Rapid Microbiology Tests: Bactoscan, Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA), PCR,
- Completion of all documentation and maintenance of records;
- Implementation and participation in internal and external proficiency tests;
- Equipment cleaning, maintenance and calibration;
- Day to day maintenance of laboratory hygiene standards;
- Timely escalation of non-conformances or potential non-conformances including participation in laboratory investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Requirements
- A qualification in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or equivalent quality-related course;
- Knowledge of and track record in the Agri/Dairy sector is preferable but not essential;
- A good communicator and ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent IT skills;
- An ability to interpret test data and problem-solving skills;
- Flexible and dynamic with good organisational ability;
- Willingness to do further relevant training and improvement.

Our client, a global pharmaceutical company are looking for Lab Technician within the QC Bioanalytical laboratory on an initial 11 month contract in North Dublin. This is a great opportunity for junior technicians and those looking to get experience within a GMP laboratory setting.
Responsibilities
- Sample Management within the QC Bioanalytical Laboratory. This will include management of the samples from receipt through to disposal.
- Aliquotting of in-process, release and stability samples.
- Daily calibration of instruments within the QC Bioanalytical Laboratory e.g. Balances, pH meters etc.
- Maintenance and cleandown of equipment within the QC Bioanalytical Laboratory e.g. HPLC's, plate washers, PCR's and BSC's
- General lab housekeeping. This will include waste management, reagent stock checks and maintenance of glassware within the laboratory to support testing.
- Solution preparation required for testing e.g. HPLC Mobile phases, raw materials solutions etc.
- Support MPS activities within the QC Bioanalytical Laboratory.
- Perform periodic reviews of lab systems as required.

Responsibilities
This qualified and motivated Lab Technician will join a dynamic R&D team to support the development of novel immunoassays. This individual will join a team to help plan, design, and conduct advanced studies. He or she will anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical problems. He or she will act as independent contributor or interact/coordinate with other groups and functions on project development and improvement. The candidate will conduct lab experiments, maintain data records, analyse data from experiments, and formulate conclusions. The successful candidate must have strong analytical and quantitative skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Complete assigned tasks and support assay execution in a cleanroom/high biosafety level environment.
- Under direction, develops and maintain documents to support Design History File.
- Draft and submit defined protocols in collaboration with the R&D team to perform testing and data analysis.
- Prepares reports and may deliver presentations to internal groups. Shares knowledge and expertise with others in work group.
- Centre of Excellence R&D lab set-up: Author standard operating procedures, Lab equipment procurement and purchase co-ordination, laboratory equipment and maintenance documentation.
- Author/revise Operating Procedures and other documentation as appropriate.
- Ensure safe work practices and behaviour on the job at all times.
- Ensure that activities are completed within budget e.g. waste levels, per plan requirements.
- Ensure quality compliance by adhering to internal procedures and supporting quality management system documentation implementation.
Experience
- Higher Certificate, Ordinary or Honours Bachelor's Degree in scientific and technical field is desired or relevant combination of education and experience.
- 18 months experience and a proven track record in a relevant industrial environment.
- Willing to learn, understand and train in design and optimisation of serological diagnostic tests.
- Willing to take on new and challenging assignments and to implement new ideas or alternative solutions.
- Capable of adjusting to dynamic working environment and changing priorities, and of ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.

Job Summary
- To perform work as allocated by Shift Supervisor to the high standards of quality required and to inform Shift Supervisor in cases of doubtful validity of results.
- To ensure that agreed quality systems are continually adhered to such as calibration checks, internal quality controls, daily checks, and spiked samples.
- As a member of the team, to ensure that laboratory areas are kept tidy, especially designated area.
- Ensure all operations are carried out in a safe manner with due regard and compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and procedures.
- Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times with respect to customer information.
- Perform other duties as required.
Starting salary
of €29,063 rising to €31,063 within 6 months depending on performance. Additional shift allowance available for staff working on a shift pattern.
Required Education, Skills And Qualifications
- Third level qualification in Science or related discipline
- Experience in laboratory testing would be a distinct advantage but is not essential
- Excellent standards of PC literacy (Excel, Word)
- Analytical and logical approach with a keen eye for detail
- Keen interest on food science and food safety
- Able to thrive under pressure and work as part of team in a fast-paced environment.

- Conduct microbiological analysis of powder, butter, cream, and environmental samples.

- Conduct QC checks and shelf-life analysis.

We are now seeking applications for the position of Milk Intake Laboratory Technician based in Bailieborough. Reporting to the Milk Transport Manager, Food Ingredients, the successful candidate will have responsibility for:
• Efficient operation of all aspects of the milk intake lab
• Maintaining & improving standards of quality, hygiene & safety
• Testing all milk, skim, buttermilk, whey, wpc, standardised milk, fat filled milk and cream silos for pH, acidity, fat, temperature, etc.
• Analysing incoming and outgoing loads in conformance to Lakeland Dairies and customer specifications.
• Carrying out investigative sampling and testing to improve product quality and hygiene standards.
• Maintaining GLP, good Health & Safety practice and laboratory ISO documentation; ensuring the laboratory is clean and tidy.
Key Competencies:
Individual:. The successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with a high level of attention to detail. Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as interaction with people in other functions will be essential. Those interested in applying for this position should have the flexibility to work both shifts and weekends as required by the business.
Experience: Previous relevant experience is desirable for this position.
Educational: The Ideal candidate is required to have a third level qualification in a related discipline together with a high level of computer skills.
