The Role
As a Lead Developer within the Airtricity Digital Web Platform team, you will collaborate with fellow developers using Agile methodologies to digitise SSE Airtricity's web and mobile solutions, lead API rewrites, and support AI integration. You Have

  • Proven experience leading development teams, with expertise in building robust and scalable applications using .NET Core, C#.NET, RESTful APIs, JWT, OAuth 2.0, OpenID, Azure AD B2C (Customer Identity and Access Management), GraphQL, Blazor, and object-oriented programming. A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
  • A strong .NET development background with a focus on Microsoft Azure cloud services, including serverless solutions using Azure Functions, integration orchestration with Azure Service Bus and Logic Apps, and CI/CD automation via Azure DevOps.
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI services into enterprise applications, particularly using Microsoft Azure AI tools such as Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, or Machine Learning Studio.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop scalable cloud-based applications, with a solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and database systems (SQL and NoSQL). Azure certification is a plus.

S/he is a senior hands-on technical lead with proven track record leading engineering teams and managing projects with acute awareness and accountability for financial and risk related objectives. S/he has strong technical and architectural skills and proactively contributes to the new technical vision and engineering best practices.

  • You should be hands on with strong analytical and technical ability with 5+ years of experience. An additional 3-4 years involved with complex medium to large projects in a dynamic financial environment is desirable.
  • Willing to learn new techniques, particularly, low code platforms like Appian
  • There is a requirement to lead day to day delivery work and clearly set out a strategic architectural vision and identify project/program delivery risks and work on risk mitigation.
  • You should have good analytical skills to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex material from multiple sources and employs skills and knowledge of the business to develop creative solutions to meet client and business needs.

Role

  • Lead planning, design and implementation of technical solutions for global customers (internal and external).
  • Design, build, roll out, and maintain UI components and patterns that will be used with multiple teams.
  • Continually ideate, scope, develop, deliver, test and iterate features for the constantly evolving and growing API Platform.
  • Contribute to Mastercard Open Source projects.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of automation are adopted (build, deploy, configure, validate, monitor).
  • Teach and mentor junior engineers and other team members. As an SME on frontend technologies, teams will look up to you for guidance.
  • Liaise with other global technology, storage, and operations teams to execute.
  • Act as subject matter expert for API Platform and services to support customer integrations on occasion

All About You

  • 8+ years professional, hands-on, frontend application development experience.
  • Expert React ES6 Javascript and Typescript skills including areas of functional and asynchronous programming.
  • Expert CSS development knowledge and experience with both native and using frameworks e.g. bootstrap, tailwind, mui, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of , NPM, Webpack and Jest.
  • Knowledge of NextJS, Jamstack (Hugo) is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in building interactive web applications with polished, good looking, consistent, responsive and accessible UI/UX.
  • Proven track record in web application development.
  • Strong fundamentals of working with APIs.
  • You care about the technical architecture and design - ensuring that the solution is flexibly designed and performs efficiently.
  • Experienced working in an Agile environment with a global team that makes frequent production releases.
  • Background in Dev/Ops a distinct advantage.
  • Background in automation a distinct advantage.

ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM

As a Lead Software Developer and Technology Owner, you will lead an established team in developing scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications. You will oversee the complete lifecycle of both hosted and customer-deployed solutions, ensuring they adhere to robust architectural principles, incorporate modern design elements, and feature seamless cloud integration. Collaboration with business stakeholders and the portfolio architect will be key to clarifying requirements and defining the solution scope. Additionally, you will establish initial solutions to address these requirements and work closely with the Portfolio Architect and domain experts to guarantee alignment with architectural strategy and organizational policies. This role involves partnering with distributed teams across various locations and time zones to deliver innovative products and services that advance our organization's strategic objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Collaborate the Portfolio Architect and team to design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end applications and services using Java.
  • Lead team efforts to modernize legacy systems to make them cloud native.
  • Lead team effort to build and enhance cloud-native applications leveraging the Azure technology stack, such as Azure Functions, App Services, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB.
  • Lead team effort to maintain and improve a C-based integration platform.
  • Lead team effort to develop modern, responsive user interfaces using ReactJS and TypeScript.
  • Lead team effort to write and maintain automated integration, regression, and performance test suites for both back-end and front-end applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and distributed teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Lead team efforts to ensure application performance, quality, and security through best practices and rigorous code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the full software stack to ensure system reliability and availability.
  • Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and fostering technical growth within the team.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and contribute innovative ideas to improve products and processes.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Expertise in secure coding practices and application security fundamentals.
  • Expertise building back-end applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience developing modern web applications with ReactJS and TypeScript.
  • Experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications on Azure.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL database technologies.
  • Experience working with message queue technologies (JMS, AMQP, etc.) for efficient communication between distributed systems.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes on Azure).

NICE-TO-HAVE:

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code using Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with working in teams who employed Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience working with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
