Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a working supervisor, assisting on the production floor with troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Supervise and motivate the maintenance team to execute safe, timely, and cost-effective maintenance programs.

Requirements:

  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment alongside technicians.
  • Solid understanding of preventive maintenance systems and overall manufacturing maintenance operations.

This is a hands-on role.

  • The Supervisor shall be accountable for expenditure made by the department.
  • He/she shall also from time to time be assigned budgets in respect of minor capital works and shall be responsible for the procurement and execution of same.

  • The supervision of staff as assigned to him/her, management of time sheet's and certification as appropriate for salary returns.
  • Development and implementation of a comprehensive maintenance programme for buildings, plant, building services and equipment, utilising the best available practices and exploring advances in information technology to achieve this.
  • Manage energy usage. Implement, manage and maintain energy and building management systems.
  • Manage environmental issues as appropriate to the team function.
  • To implement and manage emergency on-call / call-out systems.
  • To arrange maintenance contracts (and other SLAs) for specialised plant, services and equipment in his/her area, supervise work of the maintenance contractors and certify completion of work before payments are processed.
  • Where appropriate to prepare feasibility reports, estimates, tender documents (drawings, specifications and contract conditions), obtain tenders, review method statements and other documentation, arrange contracts, supervise construction and commission approved minor capital and major maintenance works. To prepare reports and maintain records on the progress of the works. To certify monies due to contractors for the works.
  • To be aware and implement all Safety, Health and Welfare at work legislation, regulations and good practice relevant to the role of supervisor as it applies to the Health Service Executive and contractor's staff. To ensure that all staff under his/her control are aware of the Health Service Executive's policies in relation to Safety, Health and Welfare at work legislation and that the relevant NMH policies are adhered to. To arrange appropriate training programmes for staff. To ensure compliance with the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction Regulations 2001) in relation to maintenance and minor capital works. To act as Project Supervisor Design Stage or Project Supervisor Construction Stage as appropriate for maintenance and minor capital works. To carry out annual safety audits in areas under his/her control and liaise with the local Health & Safety Officer on the updating of the relevant safety statements and procedures. Your Job

Overview
PepsiCo is on the look-out for a Maintenance Shift Associate Supervisor to join our Maintenance function based in Little Island, for a one-year fixed-purpose opportunity.

The main objectives of the role are to ensure that the maintenance program and strategies are delivered across the Little Island site. The shift team lead is responsible for ensuring machinery used to produce our concentrate products run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment (including software programming) across 24/5 operation with some systems running 24/7.

Responsibilities

  • The maintenance shift team lead will coordinate the day to day reactive, preventive maintenance and statutory compliance schedules across shifts.
  • Lead the Maintenance Shift Team in the repair of day-to-day equipment and system issues to minimise downtime. Support the Maintenance continuous improvement culture through team participation in various initiatives across the technical function.
  • The maintenance shift team lead will organise the reactive, preventive maintenance and statutory compliance schedules for plant equipment and facilities across the Little Island site.
  • Co-ordinating the frontline craft shift team on repair and maintenance of facilities and plant equipment across the site, including various contractors/ vendors. This includes review of method statements, risk assessments, LOTO and issuing of work permits and review and signoff of service reports etc.
  • Liaise with production on machine uptime and availability of equipment and drive machine performance through data review and performance metrics of the Maintenance teams across each shift.
  • Lead the Maintenance team in implementing the plant preventive maintenance schedule and ensure preventative maintenance system is kept up to date based on functional KPI's. Provide leadership and supervision to the Maintenance team in the maintenance, repair, modification and continuous improvement, project support, installation and testing of all types of plant equipment and automation systems. Plan out and assign work. This will involve delegation of assigned work task to individual craft members and ensuring timely completion of same.
  • Provide technical support to each function on day-to-day activities and across shift, manage and process high volume of calls and request.
  • Support the maintenance department in problem solving, root cause investigation and major breakdown reports, reliability centred maintenance, update shift handover to reflect daily issues/challenges. Developing robust detailed handover reports at the end of shift and lease with incoming shift on key priorities and watchouts.
  • Support project & equipment handover, ensure all new equipment is added to CMMS and all maintenance work tasks are developed as per recommendation (site requirements, vendor recommendations etc).
  • Support daily/weekly shift meetings and other site initiatives across 24/5 operation.
  • Adhere to all the H&S and Quality requirements in site by actively leading the team in the sites drive to Health and Safety Excellence and culture-based system journey.
  • Ensure delivery of the maintenance weekly plan and compliance to the global monthly Maintenance KPI's.

Qualifications

  • Min 5 years technical experience in a manufacturing environment with significant people management of frontline unionized employees.
  • Ability to track and manage ordering of supplies, services and spare parts.
  • Solid understanding and experience of Plant and facilities technologies.
  • PLC & SCADA control system.
  • Fire Alarm and fire protection system.
  • Air handling & HVAC system.
  • Boiler and compressed air systems.
  • Computer skills required include MS Office/ Excel/ PowerPoint/MS Teams.

Job Description
We are recruiting a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Cork. This position reports to the Operations Engineering Manager. This Maintenance Supervisor manages day-to-day Maintenance Department activities on site to ensure that all products are manufactured to GMP guidelines. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvements and maintenance excellence through our MEP (Maintenance Excellence Programme). They will also ensure that the Equipment P.M & Calibration schedule, stores stocks and spare part list are maintained and up to date.
Roles and Responsibilities
+ Staff organization within the department including holiday cover and review of timekeeping and holiday requests.
+ Ensure that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
+ Maintain training and safety awareness records and attendance records and ensure that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
+ Responsible for all facility and live utility maintenance and upkeep
+ Preventative Maintenance / Calibration organization, control, and reporting
+ Work Request organization, control, and reporting
+ Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets
+ Establish and maintain computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, time allocation and maintenance history of plant equipment.
+ Maintain and is responsible for Calibration systems and compliance, including discrepancies, KPIs, SOPs related to calibrations
+ Department Audit Leader
+ Supervision and coordination of Reliability Engineering activities including Department Metric reporting to Management and external stakeholders, analysing data from QA relating to equipment malfunctions, with a view to improving equipment availability and reducing instances of downtime.
+ Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement.
+ Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
+ Track, analyse and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
+ Play an active role in Change Control committee for equipment changes
+ Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians.
+ Ensure statutory inspections relating to the maintenance department are always achieved.
+ Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.
Qualifications
+ Craft Qualification in electrical or mechanical trades
+ 3 - 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with experience of supervising/managing a team.
+ Computer literate - MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Strong problem-solving skills.

The Role
The Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating all technical and maintenance activities in support of production in a safe, cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner, assuring capacity and achieving plant performance metrics.

Duties Include

  • Lead Technical Team with a key focus on timely completion of PMs, Calibrations (on or before due date on SAP) and Equipment Downtime Resolution.
  • Responsible for the development and tracking of the departments KPIs in order to measure equipment and maintenance performance i.e. MTBF, MTTR, OEEs, schedule attainment, labour utilisation, work order backlog, PM / calibration completion rates, spare usage and costs control.
  • Responsible for all maintenance information including specifications, drawings, manuals and SOPs are up to date and located in shared folders for access and retrieval by colleagues.
  • Follow the appropriate SAP Next procedures.
  • Use defined maintenance data generated allied to equipment and business understanding of site needs and impact (e.g. knock-on effects of poor equipment reliability) to justify capital expenditure.
  • Plan, organise, direct and control maintenance project activities to meet defined site objectives and to provide technical support to the maintenance group by taking the lead on issues.
  • Develop scientific risk-based approach to identifying key critical spares for plant and equipment and ensure that critical spares are in stock or are always readily available. Ensure that an effective program is then maintained.
  • Placement of Purchase Orders for equipment and spares is within the job role as is other administration work required to carry out your functional work.
  • Setup of SLAs as appropriate.
  • Timely resolution of Unplanned Works and recording of resolution, resource hours, costs via SAP Work Order.
  • Work with the Planner (where applicable) to setup Optimised PM and Calibration Frequencies.
  • Present technical data and lead tours of internal and external audit groups and customer visits
  • Manage on site contractors under area of responsibility including the preparation of all required work permits and the review of risk assessments and method statement for the required tasks or work.
  • Ensure that comprehensive maintenance documentation exists for each equipment item & that it is filed in an organised & legible manner in the designated shared folders.
  • Ensure strict compliance of GMP and SOP procedures during the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and electronic plant and systems associated with producing the finished products.
  • Lead shutdown activities including planning, execution and lessons learnt.
  • Travel as appropriate to support project FAT's, development work or training as needed.
  • Reporting of equipment and process performance utilising OEE tools to identify and address efficiently losses i.e. Availability x Performance x Quality.
  • Formal Setup of Equipment associated Spares, PMs and Calibrations in SAP.
  • Manage the department discretionary spend and capital budgets on a monthly and quarterly basis and avoid overspends.
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives identified through on-going assessment of equipment issues and reliability (based on gathered data and statistical analysis).

Who You Are

  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in an Engineering / Maintenance Leadership role, preferably within the Life Science, Medical Device and / or Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Engineering Degree (Minimum Level 7, Level 8 an advantage) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or recognised equivalent.
  • Experience or Qualification in Reliability Engineering an advantage.
  • Trades Qualified an advantage.
