My client, a global pharmaceutical company have a new opportunity for a Medical Advisor/Medical Science Liaison.

The Position

The Medical Advisor (MA)/Medical Science Liaison (MSL) demonstrates mastery and innovation in the ability to develop on-going professional relationships with national and regional healthcare opinion leaders and healthcare professionals to provide medical and scientific support in selected therapeutic areas. Within the agreed strategy, the MA/MSL educates healthcare professionals, internal colleagues (e.g., Medical, Marketing, and Sales), and decision makers in healthcare systems regarding therapeutic areas and related products and services. The MA/MSL identifies and establishes networks for most effective and efficient medical-scientific communication. The MA/MSL may also deputise for the Country Medical Affairs Manager Ireland as Local Safety Officer, Medical Information or Quality Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities

•Based on pre-defined segmentation and profiling criteria, identifies, and maps qualified thought leaders and scientific networks on an international, national, and regional level

•Develop and execute an external stakeholder engagement plan in close collaboration and coordination with the respective cluster organization in Medical Affairs, Commercial and Market Access

•Builds rapport and maintains peer to peer relationships with key influencers at major academic institutions, hospitals, and scientific societies.

•Support speakers and key influencers in preparing and delivering presentations and scientific contributions upon request, e.g., accompanies to international and national congresses and scientific events.

•Ensures medical value messages on the products/areas of therapeutic interest are conveyed and advocacy for contributions to medical practice (products, studies, and services) is developed.

•Enhances company reputation in terms of medical and scientific expertise by engaging and discussing with thought leaders and key influencers on a high scientific level. Communicate non-promotional general information about our company, including pipeline, research and development programs and other relevant information.

Your profile:

Essential

•Physician (preferred), pharmacist (preferred), PhD in biomedical sciences or similar.

•Experience working in a Medical Advisor/MSL role, clinical research, or similar role where there is strong evidence of gaining healthcare professional insight and providing medical input into brand strategy.

•Ability to quickly and comprehensively learn about new therapy areas and environments.

•Knowledge of the Healthcare System and the pharmaceutical industry.

•Knowledge of local and EU regulations e.g., GVP, GCP.

•Knowledge of clinical trial design and process.

•Experience in Oncology Disease Areas

•Innovative approaches to managing external customers and internal partners.

•Leading edge approaches to capturing customer insights.

•Previous experience of leading and managing teams.

•Knowledge of key markets research terms and modes of analysis

Children's Health Ireland are seeking to fill this Consultant Paediatric Respiratory Physician post on a specified purpose contract 37 hours per week at Children's Health Ireland. This includes 18.50 hours per week at CHI at Temple Street and 18.50 hours per week at CHI at Tallaght. Purpose of the Role: Strategy: i) To reduce extremely long waiting lists for outpatient clinic review: currently there is a two year waiting list for a routine new appointment with a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine at CHI at Temple Street and 1 year at CHI at Tallaght. ii) To reduce waiting lists for investigations of sleep disordered breathing. Currently there is a two year waiting list for overnight studies to diagnose these disorders e.g. overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide studies and overnight oxygen studies. There is a two year waiting list for both of these studies at CHI at Temple St. At CHI at Tallaght, there is a 20 month waiting list for overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide studies, a 29-month with for overnight oxygen studies and a 5 month waiting list for cardiorespiratory polygraphy (CRPG). iii) To reduce waiting times for investigations to assess and regularly monitor gas exchange in children on long term ventilation (e.g. CPAP and BIPAP: overnight sleep study waiting times as outlined above. Specialities whose workload will change: This will reduce the waiting time for patients referred for Respiratory review and investigation from other specialties including ENT, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Metabolic, Endocrine, Neuro-disability, General Paediatrics, Craniofacial etc. This will reduce waiting time for GP referrals for secondary and tertiary respiratory review. Respiratory service: Currently, there is a two year waiting list for routine new outpatient paediatric Respiratory appointments in CHI at Temple St. and a one year waiting time in CHI at Tallaght. There is a two year wait for overnight oxygen studies investigations for sleep disordered breathing in CHI Temple Street and 29 months waiting list at CHI Tallaght. There is a two year wait for overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide studies for routine assessment of children on long term ventilation (e.g. CPAP and BIPAP) and those with sleep disordered breathing at CHI Temple St and similarly a 20 and 18 month waiting list espectively at CHI Tallaght (e.g. overnight oxygen and carbon dioxide studies). These studies are important to assess and regularly monitor the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. Provision of a long term ventilation service for children: the number of referrals for this service from a broad range of sub-specialities has hugely increased over the last few years as have referrals from across the country. Eligibility Criteria Professional Qualifications and Experience Mandatory: a) Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of Paediatrics and b) Two years certified postgraduate training in paediatric respiratory medicine The successful interviewee must be registered as a specialist in the relevant specialty on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland, within 180 days of the day of interview and before taking up appointment. In exceptional circumstances proleptic appointments may be considered for candidates engaged in relevant training programmes. The Consultant must, at all times while continuing to hold office, continue to be registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. Documentary evidence of Medical Council Registration is required and must be produced annually to the Medical Administration Department within the Children's Health Ireland. Should the successful candidate not be registered as a Specialist at that time, the post may be offered to the next suitable candidate.
