This will include the following on a day-to-day basis: Complete repair orders for general repair as requested. Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. Perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, kitchen, and laundry equipment. Maintain adequate levels of spares, stock and supplies, ensuring effective forward planning. Undertake repair and maintenance tasks to a high-quality including plumbing; joinery and carpentry; painting/decorating; maintenance of lighting and required statutory testing. Understand and respond to health and safety matters in an appropriate & timely manner. Moving furniture and heavy items from location to location on site as required. Ensure all common parts of the site including refuse and recycling facilities are frequently inspected and maintained to the highest standards of repair & cleanliness. Ensure the gardens and grounds maintenance to the property are well maintained, clean, tidy and hazard free. Demonstrates appropriate safe behaviours in accordance with Company, property, and departmental policies, procedures, and standards by immediately reporting any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, employee/visitor/patient injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to appropriate individual(s). Identifies areas for improvement, offers suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity, and implements ideas that achieve operational excellence. Complies with company's safety / security rules and instructions in performing work efficiently. Participation in a rotational on call system. To prepare for, participate in and attend ward rounds and other multi-professional meetings, such as Tribunals and supporting the nursing team to undertake this role. To ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatments including the custody, storage and administration of medicines. To maintain a high standard of nursing care during procedures and treatments through supervision and instruction. To ensure patients' rights are maintained and protected under the Mental Health Act. Assist the Director of Nursing to ensure that allocated staff are aware of Individual care plans and objectives, together with any set activities to be undertaken. Complete supervision and appraisals of junior staff members. To take charge of the Centre in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Nursing, exercise leadership within the service by ensuring sound organisation, good communication and relationships within the nursing team and the MDT. Inform the Director of Nursing and of any professional issues as necessary in line with NMBI codes of conduct and support with the initial investigations, as necessary. To partake in the planning and preparation for MHC visits and inspections. To take the lead in working alongside outside agencies to ensure effective communication across services. Skills Requirement Qualification: Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (QQ1 Level 8 or higher) or working towards and/or equivalent may be an advantage, or a contractual undertaking to acquire within 3 years from the date of appointment. Knowledge: Knowledge, understanding and familiarity with the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice. Experience: A minimum of 5+ years post qualification/registration Psychiatric nursing experience. A minimum of 3+ years relevant experience in a management position within the area of Psychiatric nursing. Skills: An ability to empathise with and understand the needs of others. A strong desire to be ones best. Excellent organisational skills / self-motivated / self starter. Excellent verbal, written communication, and IT skills. Willingness to work as part of a multi-departmental team. Willingness to learn.
