Overview
As a Lead AI Engineer at Mastercard, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and scaling AI microservices that transform PoC notebooks into robust, production-ready components. You will play a pivotal role in creating the foundational AI services that power our next-generation solutions, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and seamlessly integrated into the broader Mastercard ecosystem
Key Responsibilities
Lead the E2E design and development of AI-powered microservices, focusing on modularity, scalability, and reusability, to support various business units and applications
Drive the transition of AI models from notebook-based PoCs and experimental phases into hardened, production-grade components and services, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability
Design and implement robust APIs for AI microservices, facilitating seamless integration with existing Mastercard platforms and external systems.
Identify and address performance bottlenecks within AI microservices and their underlying infrastructure, optimizing for latency, throughput, and cost-efficiency.
Work closely with data scientists, MLOps engineers, and product teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications for AI services. Mentor junior engineers on best practices for AI software development and scaling
Implement rigorous testing strategies, including unit, integration, and performance testing, to ensure the quality, accuracy, and stability of deployed AI microservices
Research and evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies related to AI software development, microservices, and large-scale data processing to continuously improve our capabilities
Ensure all AI microservices adhere to Mastercard's security standards, compliance policies, and ethical AI principles
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred
Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years specifically focused on building and deploying AI/ML-powered applications or microservices in production environments
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in Python
Extensive experience in designing, developing, and deploying RESTful APIs and microservices
Proven experience in scaling machine learning models from prototype to production, including familiarity with feature stores, model registries, and inference patterns
Solid understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle, from data preparation and model training to deployment and monitoring
Experience with cloud platforms and their relevant compute, storage, and AI/ML services
Proficiency with containerization technologies
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of software and AI models
Experience with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Dask) is a plus

The COIN Project (Control-Oriented Innovations for Future Ocean Energy Farms) is focused on advancing renewable ocean energy in response to climate goals and growing concerns over energy security and pricing. By developing innovative solutions such as smart connectors for mooring and power, real-time AI-based wave prediction, and digital twin-based health monitoring, the project aims to overcome technical and economic challenges in wave energy. These technologies, supported by a techno-economic optimization framework, are designed to improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of ocean energy systems and support the transition to a cleaner energy future. The AI Research Lab (AIRL) focuses on applied ML research and applications of interest to HPE and HPE's customers. AIRL's research focuses on Reinforcement Learning applications in sustainability, digital twins, complex scientific applications (like fusion energy), LLMs, trustworthy and responsible AI, and the data foundation infrastructure for AI. Our team is diverse, with a broad range of skill sets and expertise that enables the exploration of innovative ideas that are not possible in monolithic research organizations.
We are seeking highly qualified candidates to join our team as a machine learning research engineer. We are interested in individuals with a background in machine learning, time series analysis, reinforcement learning and Digitial twins. Digital twin applications require a strong engineering background with an aptitude to model physical systems. The ideal candidate demonstrates an entrepreneurial interest in creating new products and technologies with a fluency in system level analysis and design.

Education and Experience
- PhD degree (or MS with equivalent research and innovation experience) in a relevant discipline (e.g., computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, math, physics, statistics, mechanical engineering, etc.)
- Proven record of innovation with Deep Learning or with scientific and engineering computation involving the application of Machine Learning.
- Demonstrated experience with innovative solution development, developing proofs-of-concept, first-of-a-kind solutions, and technology transfer.
- Strong software development skills in Python and Pytorch are required.
- Strong application experience of Machine Learning with physical systems is required.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Drive Honeywell COE Gen AI strategy. Establish current and future state landscape & roadmap with deep consideration of security, safety, and integrity of services.
+ Provide Subject Matter Expertise on Generative AI adoption and Impactful deployment for cybersecurity for internal architecture, third party integration, and custom models.

**YOU MUST HAVE:**
+ Overall 10+ years of experience, out of which 5+ years of experience in cyber security identifying security risks, identifying best practices, and developing solutions
+ Solid understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning etc.
+ Working knowledge in LLM models like Gemini, Llama, GPT, DALL-E and frameworks like LangChain & Vector databases like Faiss, Pinecone etc.
