About the role
We're looking for an experienced payroll specialist to join Rippling's Global Payroll Operations team. We are rapidly expanding Rippling to serve the needs of employees and employers all over the world. Our Global Payroll Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our global payroll products, which are natively built and fully integrated with Rippling's broader suite of products.
As Rippling expands its product offerings globally, there is a critical business need for Rippling to develop new muscles around global product operations and country-specific payroll expertise outside of the US.
This role, Global Payroll Operations Specialist, is a critical hire for the Global Payroll Operations team that will be fully dedicated to developing and executing these new capabilities. This role will own all operational aspects within Ireland, which includes tax issue resolution on behalf of our customers, communication with government agencies, and collaboration with R&D teams. Additionally, this role brings critical country-specific payroll expertise to support the development of our natively built payroll software.
This is an exciting role that requires significant cross-departmental engagement with a major impact on the product and customer experience.
What you will do
- Execute timely filings and payments for all customers in Ireland alongside the R&D team
- Drive issue resolution and communication with various government agencies
- Provide excellent customer service by answering payroll-related questions and resolving any issues in a timely and efficient manner
- Reconcile and validate payroll outputs, including payslips, tax filings, and social security contributions
- Conduct periodic payroll audits to ensure data accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve any payroll-related issues
- Carefully document processes and tasks to streamline operations and share knowledge across the department, ensuring efficient workflows
- Work closely with Global Payroll Engineering and Product teams to ensure that:
- Natively built payroll software supports key payroll and tax compliance requirements in Ireland and UK region
- Product bugs and product issues (e.g., calculation errors, file generation errors) are quickly addressed
- Internal tooling requirements and automated solutions are properly prioritized and implemented
- Help the organization scale and grow with the business
- Participate in ad hoc special projects to improve payroll processes
What you will need
- Deep understanding of Irish payroll required. Key areas of expertise include: tax calculations, filing and payment requirements, and tax notice resolution
- Familiarity with UK payroll processes is strongly preferred
- Proven experience in handling audits, queries, calls and disputes with Revenue Ireland and HMRC on behalf of clients
- Minimum of 3+ years in a client-facing role
- Ability to manage and solve a queue of customer support tickets
- Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills: high attention to detail with excellent work product, time management, and execution
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex payroll calculations and reconciliations
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively address client inquiries and concerns related to payroll
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, thriving in a fast-paced environment
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with changes in Irish payroll regulations and best practices
- Experience with Google Suite or Microsoft Office, especially Docs/Sheets/Excel, for data analysis and task organization; familiarity with Salesforce queues, JIRA, and Confluence a plus

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the payroll department, including weekly and monthly payroll runs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery using Megapay payroll software.

Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field; or a recognised payroll qualification (IPASS / CIPP) or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional payroll experience in Ireland and/or the UK; EMEA experience is an advantage.
- Expertise in payroll systems; Megapay experience is a distinct advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Irish and UK payroll legislation, with a proven history of ensuring compliance.
- Experience in auditing and reconciling payrolls with high accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects successfully and simultaneously.
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions, particularly payroll integration, is an advantage.
