Our growing UK&I Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) team is looking for a Principal Environmental Permitting Consultant in Ireland to support the delivery of the EHS compliance and permitting business across our existing client base and new clients. The role is to participate with our team in the delivery of a broad range of EHS compliance and permitting services across many sectors including, but not limited to, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals/Biopharmaceuticals, Water, Alternative Fuels, Hi Tech, Commercial and Energy.
This role would suit a consultant with proven industry experience in environmental compliance and permitting. Experience in Industrial Emissions / Integrated Pollution Control licensing in the **Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical** sector is important. Some health and safety experience and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards would also be beneficial.
You will play a key role in supporting the growth and continued success of the Environmental compliance and permitting business in the UK and Ireland. Based within a specialist team but working as part of the wider AECOM business you would provide environmental compliance and permitting support across all industry sectors, through a combination of global framework agreements and site-specific commissions. You would support AECOM's clients from established process industries, manufacturing and power generation companies with the management of compliance requirements for current and planned activities. AECOM is also helping to shape the development of good compliance practice for the transition to a low carbon economy.
**As our EHS & Remediation team covers Ireland & UK, and as we support hybrid working we are flexible in terms of base location. This position can be based from our offices in Dublin, Cork or Belfast.**
**_Here's what you'll do:_**
**Environmental Permitting and Compliance Support**
+ Advising clients on the implications for their business of legislation, environmental regulatory guidance and Best Available Techniques (BAT) to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, best practice and BAT standards. This could include undertaking licence compliance studies, liability risk assessments and BAT studies.
+ Assist clients in developing and implementing mitigation measures, management plans, and management systems. Managing and completing EHS audits including legal and operational compliance.
+ Support the preparation and submission of environmental permit/licence applications particularly in the Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical sector.
+ Help ensure ongoing compliance with permit/licence conditions and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards
**Regulator and Stakeholder Engagement**
+ Facilitate engagement with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
+ Assist clients in fulfilling permit/licence obligations, including reporting requirements and addressing pre-operational or improvement conditions. Examples include licence applications, licence variations and licence surrender.
**Business Development**
+ Contribute to business development efforts by building and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients.
+ Help expand AECOM's compliance and permitting service offerings.
**Quality and Technical Assurance**
+ Conduct quality assurance and technical reviews of work completed by team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
**Mentorship and Professional Development**
+ Mentor and support the growth of junior team members and emerging professionals in the field of permitting and compliance.

**Education and Qualifications**
A base first degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering or science discipline.
**Professional Experience**
Demonstrable experience in a consultancy role.
Proven track record in delivering environmental compliance and permitting services, particularly in the **Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical** sector.
Significant experience with Industrial Emissions / Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) licensing.

**Knowledge / Skills & Experience**
**Essential:**
+ Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical/engineering discipline or associate degree or Diploma / Certificate. May substitute experience in lieu of educational requirements.
+ Minimum 2 years' experience working in quality, validation or compliance role within the biological and/or pharmaceutical industry.
+ Knowledgeable of EU regulatory requirements applicable to pharmaceuticals. Ability to apply GMP regulations and other FDA and international guidelines to all aspects of the position.
+ Capability to set clear goals, communicate these clearly and ensure progress to completion meeting predefined targets.
+ Client Facing experience
**Desirable:**
+ Experience in auditing of external suppliers, contractors and vendors.

In this role, you will; Support the Head of TPRM in the development and execution of the TPRM strategy and roadmap.
Develop, maintain and enhance the TPRM governance framework, ensuring alignment with internal risk appetite and Irish and EU regulatory requirements.

Lead regulatory and best practice horizon scanning to track critical TPRM developments and assess their impact on the framework.

Integrate ESG criteria into third-party onboarding, due diligence, and monitoring processes.

We are looking for a candidate that has significant experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, or sustainability within Irish or EU financial services.
A solid understanding of Irish and EU regulatory frameworks relevant to outsourcing and ESG and experience working with the Central Bank of Ireland or other regulatory authorities.
