Role Description
The Cloud Platform Engineer is responsible for the support of complex Cloud solutions across Azure/AWS/GCP. Typical day-to-day workload would focus on the development and creation of automations to support the delivery of Cloud resources, management, and consumption in an enterprise environment. An ideal candidate will have background experience related to Cloud engineering or Cloud development, with experience in automated solutions against a Azure Cloud.
Role Objectives
This role is responsible for the creation of automated solutions and support regarding SMBC Americas Cloud platforms, notably Azure, across all SMBC/Group Company entities in the Americas and EMEA Division. In This Role, You Will
- Build and manage AWS infrastructure using IaC technologies (mainly Cloud Formation)

What will make you stand out?
Significant experience of cloud technologies, especially AWS and native services is crucial (Azure DevOps and Terraform will also help you stand out).
Experience of implementing and operating resilient and highly available systems at enterprise-scale.
Strong background in infrastructure management and design, with proven experience of best of breed solutions for security, scalability and cost management will make you stand out
Experience with scripting technologies (such as bash, python)
Comfortable working in Agile teams with working knowledge for Agile processes and tools required to promote this methodology.

The CCoE helps lead the organisation in cloud adoption, migration, and operations ensure the strategy executions and the benefits of the cloud.
This is a hybrid onsite role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as ITC, Cabinteely, Dublin 18. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration - exact frequency to be agreed with manager. #IJ-HYBRID

Responsibilities
- Lead a team responsible for ensuring teams are empowered by self-service Platforms to carry out software development activities
- Lead a team responsible for creating, maintaining and improving CI/CD frameworks as part of the development platforms from medium to enterprise scale
- Collaborate with Software Development, QA Engineers, and System Architects to continuously improve the efficiency and reliability of overall SDLC
- Work to continually identify and remove software development bottlenecks
- Support multiple project teams and codebases to enable the deployment of application releases to control test and production environments
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years' experience, which include 2 years as a Team lead
- Technology background, preferably with Platform engineering or DevOps experience
- Preferably professional experience working with .NET or Microsoft technology stack
- Debugging and troubleshooting knowledge and experience
- Experience using GitFlow or knowledge of branching methodologies
- Passion for innovation and creative problem solving and intellectual curiosity

Overview
The Open Banking platform engineering team is looking for a senior platform engineer that has significant FinOps experience to help advance our platform, and help drive cost optimisation, efficiency and data-driven decision making across our cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, financial acumen, and a strong ability to present data in clear, actionable ways. This role is critical to ensuring our platforms are scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives.

- Architect and optimize scalable systems and applications with a focus on performance and reliability.
- Traverse and analyze large datasets to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.

Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Golang and Python, with hands-on experience building and maintaining complex microservices applications.
- 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure management, with a deep focus on cloud cost optimization.
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), with advanced knowledge in cloud cost management and FinOps practices.
- Strong ability to analyze large datasets, identify cost inefficiencies, and present data through dashboards and visualizations.
- Proven experience in cloud cost management, FinOps practices, and scalable architecture design.
- Proficiency in traversing and analyzing large datasets, with expertise in tools like SQL, Python, or other data processing, query languages.
