**What does a successful Senior Platform Engineer do?**
You will be responsible for designing, building, and ensuring production-grade support for **Kubernetes** and **Cloud** **platform** at a global scale. Also, you will help application teams to onboard, monitor, and run the applications in a fast & secure manner while making sure the right technology is used for the specific application. This includes using the latest technology and the ability to greatly contribute and shape the solution with your input. The target of our initiative is to enable dev teams to onboard and work with the platform in a self-service way.
**What you will do:**
+ Build & maintain our platform that serves as self-service for development teams
+ Help application teams to be onboarded and provide technical guidance to use the maximum of our platform on-prem or in the cloud
+ Cooperate with other departments within the organization (security, middleware team, Linux team, .)
+ Implement middleware application specific requirements as needed, ensuring that integration across components in the provided environment is functional.
+ Stay up to date on technology trends, direction and innovation related to business process and technology areas of focus for the position

+ Be part of on-call duties to support the platform - "you build it, you run it".

Reporting to: Dean of the School of Computing Key Relationships: Dean/Vice-Dean of School of Computing Faculty/Programme Directors Programme Co-ordinators Students Computing Support Tutor Teaching Responsibilities: Actively participate in the School's teaching provisions at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Supervise and mark student research projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Attend committees and meetings appropriate to School programmes. Engage in the assessment processes of the College including setting and marking examinations and assignments, attending assessment boards and liaising with external examiners. Programme Development: Assist in the development of existing and new programmes. This may involve drafting submission documents, writing new modules and revising existing ones, liaising with the validating bodies, and promoting, implementing, and reviewing complete programmes. Research & Innovation: Carry out research and innovation activities relevant to College activities, consistently publishing findings in peer-reviewed high-impact journals and reputable international conferences and fostering foreground knowledge activities such as innovation disclosures, patents, software development, etc. Pursue funded research projects, consultancy endeavours, and development work as appropriate. Actively participate in the conception and development of project proposals aligned with the School's research interests to attract external research and innovation funds from external entities such as Enterprise Ireland, European Union, SFI, etc. General: Act as programme director for undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in consultation with the Dean of the School. Contribute to academic and disciplinary committees as requested. Represent the College at exhibitions, open days, recruitment trips, industry engagements, and other external events. Undertake the duties of the role by the requirements of the College Quality Assurance arrangement. Carry out administrative and other duties as deemed necessary by the Dean of the School. The candidate should be able to teach the technical/practical areas of the subject area. Teaching experience at the undergraduate or postgraduate level is required. Evidence of research funding (for Academic II). Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. **What you will bring**
