Electrical Engineering Technician Reporting to the Engineering Manager - you will deliver a high-quality electrical maintenance service to production, & be part of a multidisciplined team of Fitters & Electricians delivering maintenance work. Key Responsibilities: Providing both reactive & planned maintenance support to the full site Carry out installations & commissioning of plant/ equipment & trouble shooting of same Carry out basic programming & diagnostic of plant & equipment Contribute to the efficiency of the operation by maximizing uptime of machinery & minimise downtime in production & utility areas Carry out the execution of the preventive maintenance programs Troubleshooting using PLC Programs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, General Electric & Schneider Electric PLCs) Technical support for all the plant facilities (including but not limited to compressed air & refrigeration Support & participate in all environmental, H&S & quality activities Carry out engineering work orders in a timely & safe manner while maintaining adherence to cGMP As part of the Maintenance team, you will need to work with equipment suppliers on new equipment, installations, & modifications Have working knowledge/experience with a "Lock -out Tag-out" programme Adhere to all site policies on Quality, H&S, e.g. clean overalls, clean work boots, hair nets, hearing protection, h& washing, LOTO etc Assist the H&S team in carrying out risk assessments of new & existing machines Ensure H&S training is rolled out to the Maintenance team Closely monitor line, machine performance & improve where possible Fully support the line leaders/ line support i.e., Overtime, shifts cover, phone support & callouts Overseeing contractors on site Provide general maintenance support as designated by supervisors/ manager to include any or all the following areas: process equipment; HVAC equipment; refrigeration; packaging equipment Provide the Eng Dept with the highest levels of support. **_Technical Competencies:_**
+ Under supervision, the intern will assist in the following areas to support the design, development, and verification of electrical components for medical devices:
+ Prototyping Design & Evaluation: Contribute to designing prototypes and evaluating their performance through systematic testing.
+ Benchtop Testing: Perform hands-on bench testing to verify electrical subsystems and assess device performance.
+ Design Analysis including the system stack-up and component tolerances through calculations, simulations and testing.
+ PCBA design including schematic and layout of rigid and flex PCBs
+ Generation of electrical prints and required files for manufacturing (Gerbers, drill files)
+ Design for Excellence (DFX): Assist in DFM, DFF & DFT reviews.
+ Engineering documentation such as notebooks, architecture definitions
**_Additional Responsibilities:_**
**_-_** Support problem-solving and root cause analysis to identify and evaluate potential solutions against defined requirements.
- Conduct research and studies to support innovative product design.
**_Clinical Understanding:_**
- Develop a deep understanding of the relevant anatomy, pathology and treatment regarding the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT).
- Understand the customers' needs and pain points in the operating room to help improve device design and overall workflow.
**_Med Device Compliance:_**
- Learn fundamental industry standards (such as IEC, IPC) and the design requirements and test strategies which align with regulatory requirements.
- With supervision, create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures.
- Learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.

**What you will need:**
+ Studying / completed a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
**_Fundamental Knowledge:_**
+ A good understanding of fundamental electrical engineering principles including:
+ Passive components (RLC circuits) and filter design
+ Analog circuits including Op Amps
+ Digital circuit design
+ Familiarity with embedded systems and software through microcontrollers or Arduino based projects.
+ Basic understanding of programming languages such as C, C++, Matlab or Python.
+ Basic understanding of common communication protocols such as I2C, UART, CAN and SPI.
+ Familiar with basic concepts relating to Electromagnetics and Power Electronics such as DC Motors and SMPS design.
**_Design Tools:_**
+ Exposure to eCAD tools for schematic capture and basic layout design (e.g., Altium Designer or similar tools).
+ Awareness of circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, Multisim) through coursework or personal projects.
**_Analysis Skills:_**
+ Ability to perform basic analysis tasks, including:
+ Understanding component tolerances and their impact on design.
+ Simple statistical methods for data evaluation.
**_Manufacturing & Materials:_**
+ Introductory knowledge of PCB design and construction as well as manufacturing processes (rigid, flex, rigid-flex boards)
+ Awareness of Design for Excellence (DFX) concepts (basic understanding is sufficient).
**_Documentation:_**
+ Ability to interpret basic electrical drawings and schematics.
+ Exposure to preparing or understanding engineering reports and documentation through class assignments or internships.

As an R&D Co-Op Student, you will perform a wide variety of technical work in planning and design of medical devices for Orthopedic Surgeons to allow them to plan and perform their procedures. This role will support the R&D New Product Development Teams as they bring new medical devices products to market.

+ BOM Management: Support the generation, scrubbing, and review of Bills of Materials (BOM).
+ Prototype Design & Evaluation: Contribute to designing prototypes and evaluating their performance through systematic testing.
+ Bench Testing: Perform hands-on bench testing to verify electrical designs and assess device performance.
+ Electrical Stack-Ups: Participate in stack-up analysis, including:
+ Component de-rating analysis
+ Worst case/Monte Carlo analysis
+ LTspice simulations
+ Design for Excellence (DFX): Assist in Design for Manufacturing (DFMA), Design for Fabrication (DFF), and Design for Testability (DFT) reviews.
+ PCB and PCBA Print Review: Generate and review PCB and PCBA prints, including detailed D-prints for manufacturing.
+ Engineering Documentation: Draft engineering specifications, including:
+ Engineering Design Documents (EDD)
+ Engineering Requirements Specifications (ERS)
+ Architectural Requirements Documents (ARD)
+ Full Design Review: Participate in comprehensive design reviews, covering schematics, layouts, BOMs, print packs, and WCA design review with electrical engineering subject matter experts (EE SMEs).
+ Trainer Competency Report: Collaborate with trainers and evaluators to meet competency requirements and pass technical evaluations (e.g., AO EE, Design EE, etc.).
