**About the Role**
Diageo's Procurement structure is a matrix model using both Global and In Market resources and this role is a part of the Global Category team. The Global Category Specialist, Customer Marketing is an agile role within the wider Global Customer Procurement team covering Point of Sale, Experiential, Value-Added Packaging, and strategic A&P investment in service of our Commercial (Sales) strategy and Customer. In addition, the role will have a discrete category focus on Shopper Marketing (create) working closely with our Global Development Procurement team, and provides the opportunity to get involved across various projects and programmes within the wider Global Marketing Procurement team.
This role will effectively business partner and collaborate across Procurement CoEs, Marketing, Commercial, and Finance stakeholder communities to lead the development of the combined Diageo, Procurement, Commercial, and Marketing integrated strategies to maximise high impact brand building investment, cost and cash delivery, and long term NSV growth.
This includes (but is not limited to):
+ Contribute towards Diageo's overall $625m cost savings Accelerate target delivering productivity savings targets and establishing a pipeline of value for future years across Customer A&P
+ Contribute towards Diageo's overall $3b free cash flow target identifying cash opportunities across Customer A&P and developing a robust cash delivery pipeline for future years.
+ Drive an optimised shape of Diageo's Customer A&P (55/35/10) to maximise growth and performance by reducing areas of inefficient and ineffective spend leveraging investment insights, data, and strategy specifically across the '35' and shopper '10'
+ Work alongside the Global Customer Marketing Procurement and Marketing Effectiveness teams to deliver a 'One Customer' effectiveness strategy - enhancing data and insights globally and across markets.
+ Enhance strategic partnership and business value between the Global Commercial and Procurement functions actively driving core workstreams
+ Collaborate and support in the delivery of Diageo's Society 2030 ambition
+ Apply strategic procurement excellence, through creation of or support in creation of category strategies built on Diageo's best methods, standards and tools, to deliver procurement value.
+ Lead or support Sourcing activities for specific categories of spend procured globally. Ensure agency commercial terms, capabilities, and contracts are aligned with Diageo's performance ambitions to maximise Diageo value.
+ Develop subject-matter expertise for specific spend categories, supporting collection and leverage of external market / industry expertise and clear direction for development and application of market data and insights into strategy development and sourcing.
+ Adhere to and always promote the highest standards of compliance. This includes risk management processes, contract management and cost modelling / benchmarking.
+ Work dynamically across categories and pro-actively look for opportunities where flexible resourcing could be set-up.
+ Active participation in a global community of procurement professionals in one or more spend categories, including joining and leading regular meetings, supporting alignment around strategy, supporting development of own and others' capabilities & expertise and sharing of best practices. The GCS is typically a leading voice in the global community.
+ Work with Finance, Data & Analytics to enhance spend analytics, A&P investment insights, and cross-category collaboration and value in line with our investment optimisation strategy - enhancing core systems such as Nucleus and adoption of DSC strategy.
**Experience, skills & capabilities required**
+ Significant experience in Procurement, Commercial, Finance, Marketing or other relevant role.
+ Member of CIPS or another professional procurement organisation preferred.
+ Skilled at building partnerships, both externally with our agencies and suppliers, and internally with our business partners / commercial / marketing team members.
+ Demonstrated performance in projects and in cross-market teams, experience developing and executing category and procurement strategies, managing and negotiating with suppliers
+ Strong analytical, financial, and commercial awareness including a strong understanding of business requirements / targets and financial goals & value drivers relevant to the categories in scope - and how to influence and deliver against them.
+ Track record of generating insights to influence decision-making; good commercial savvy
+ Technically literate with proven record of using systems successfully
+ Strong verbal, written and presentation; strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work and communicate effectively with collaborators across different markets and timezones.
+ Generate insights and have good commercial foresight to objectively challenge established practice to stimulate alternative thinking and influence decision-making through industry and external benchmarks
