Our Operations Professional Development Program (OPDP) is an entry-level, three-year rotation program designed to offer hands-on experience while promoting personal and professional growth. As a participant from Ireland, you will begin the program and first two rotations in your home country, then you will complete your final-year rotation abroad.
We currently have a number of open positions on our OPDP Program in Ireland.
Upon completion, PDP participants graduate into their next full-time position in their home country, continuing to grow their career and contributing as an Abbott professional using the foundation of skills, experience and network developed during their time in the program.
**As a OPDP participant you will:**
· Be a regular full-time employee of Abbott and qualify for the same competitive salary and benefits as other Abbott employees.
· Assume full responsibility and contribute as a functional operation professional.
· Rotate through three challenging, demanding, and diverse assignments.
· Develop a well-rounded skill set through assignments in the established learning tracks (see below) for the program.
· Relocate to various sites around Ireland to experience assignment diversity and operations
· Work within multiple business units during your rotational program at Abbott.
· Have the opportunity to explore possible crossover assignments within other Operation Programs (i.e. Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operational Excellence).
· Be paired with a mentor to assist in the development of your operations career.
· Create a personalized growth plan to serve as a step-by-step guide towards the experiences, knowledge, and resources necessary to achieve your career goals
· Obtain training customized to support your individual growth and development.
· Report to a department manager in each assignment who will oversee your day-to-day responsibilities.
**OPDP rotation overview:**
· In Ireland, the OPDP rotation is based on 12month rotations in the first two of three years. Your rotations will involve working across functional areas - Technical, Operations Planning, Quality Assurance, Project Management and Engineering.
· No assignment is repeated; each is with a different Assignment Manager
· OPDP participants starting the program in July 2026 will complete a three-year program with the final international (overseas) rotation ending in June 2029
**Requirements:**
+ Bachelor's Degree/master's in Engineering?(Automation / Mechanical / Electrical / ?Automation) Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Food Science, Supply Chain (Business Studies with major/minor Supply Chain) or related disciplines (grade 2:1 or higher)
+ Tracking to or have a minimum of 2.1 Grade in your undergraduate course with a track record of outstanding co-curricular activities
+ Interest in pursuing a career in Operations - Production, Engineering, Plant Quality, etc.
+ Geographically mobile and willing to do at least one year assignment outside of home country
+ Unrestricted authorization to work in home country (within Europe)
+ Fluent level of English for written and verbal business communication.

Abbott's Financial Professional Development Program (FPDP) prepares college graduates with majors in Accounting and Finance for financial management roles.
The goal of the program is to identify and develop Abbott's future global Finance leaders. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities.
Each FPDP member will be assigned to a senior financial leader who will mentor and advise them.
Each FPDP member spends two years in the program, during which time they will complete four different six-month assignments across a variety of Abbott businesses and areas of Finance, such as corporate and division headquarters, manufacturing plants, and other operating environments. + Leads all Capital management activities in the department, ensuring all project managers manage their budgets and implement on time and in full, without impacting daily production activities.
**Primary Function / Goals / Objectives**
+ Follow all Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.
+ Maintain plant safety at the highest level with a zero accident target and with immediate response and thorough investigation and corrective action for all hazardous occurrences and accidents.
+ It is important that GMP is a main priority in any operation carried out in this job function.
+ The Principle Projects Manager is responsible for consulting any SOP's for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure they fully understand and adhere to the SOP.
+ Implements a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, writing justifications for additional personnel, obtaining approval for changes and co-ordinating the selection process with human resources.
+ Develop direct reports by securing appropriate training, assigning progressively challenging tasks, applying progressive disciplinary action as appropriate and conducting formal written and verbal performance reviews.
+ Monitors daily work operations and provides direction and guidance to lower - level managers, experienced employees to achieve project goals.
+ Oversees the project management activity in the department by closely monitoring all Capital, PIER, OEE, Quality and other project related initiatives ensuring all are implemented compliantly, on time, in full and within budget.
+ Interacts with internal and external customers, by meeting regularly, responding to requests and explaining procedures.
+ Interprets and executes policies that affect work processes and personnel within the assigned organisation unit.
+ Monitors internal and external indicators by reviewing reports and organisation literature, meeting with peers and reading departmental reports.
+ Contributes to the development and monitoring of area budget through regular analysis of cost and spending.
+ Participates in validation activity. Role may vary between providing input to owning activities such as protocol/report writing and managing execution of validation activities.
+ This job function will change where update procedures to GMP, EHS, Technical/New Equipment, Quality procedures and SOPs are made.
+ Managing new product launch / first lot to stock to ensure release is on time and in full.
+ Manager to several Project Engineers
+ Provides direction and guidance to managers, experienced technical individuals, evaluates performance of and assists in career development planning for subordinates.
**Education Required**
+ Required: National Framework of Qualification (Level 7 qualification) in Business, Science, Food Technology or Engineering with 7+ years' experience in manufacturing leadership role. Preferred: Advanced Degree / Masters in Business, Science, Food Technology or Engineering. Greenbelt / Blackbelt certified.
**Technical / Business Knowledge**
+ Monitors progress of individuals, teams, managers or technical individuals towards departmental goals, monitoring costs of projects and compliance to related regulations.
**Cognitive Skills**
+ Develops and/or identifies new work processes and the improved utilisation of human and material resources within the department or related departments, to ensure continuous improvement; investigates and solves problems that impact work processes and personnel within the department or related departments.
**Influence / Leadership**
+ Promotes the attainment of group goals by selecting, motivating and training capable staff. Provides leadership to department by communicating and providing guidance towards achieving group objectives.
**Planning / Organisation**
+ Schedules human and material resources within a group in conjunction with near term plans to ensure availability; carries out operations within an established budget.
**Supervision Received**
+ Work under minimum supervision. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

**Whilst the nature of program management requires an element of flexibility on location, your initial role will involve leading on a key strategic Rail program based in Dublin.**

+ Work with Global Business Lines, Regional leadership, and Market Sector Leaders to identify strategic new business opportunities and develop solutions to address them.
+ Identify areas of high risk and pro-actively take action to positively impact program outcomes.
+ Contribute to the global learning and people development strategy for program management, including identification of talent and development of resourcing plans.
+ Assess long-term and disruptive trends in their area of expertise, proactively addressing emerging challenges and opportunities.
+ Propose skill development approaches and workforce planning to deliver capabilities for the future.
+ Actively lead and support the attraction and retention of top-tier talent within program management.

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ BA/BS in a relevant discipline such as architecture, engineering, or project management plus 20 years of professional experience with a minimum of 15 years in a leadership role focused on capital infrastructure programs or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ Your track record of driving high performance, achieving complex strategic objectives, and leading large organizations in the realm of capital infrastructure projects positions you as a leader in the field.
+ Your ability to navigate complexity and drive innovation in program management practices for capital projects sets you apart as a trailblazer in the infrastructure industry.
+ Your industry recognition and substantial network demonstrate your influence and impact in the world of capital infrastructure project management.
+ Your commitment to fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture specific to capital projects will empower your colleagues to excel and thrive.
**Qualifications**
+ PMI-PgMP, APM-RPP or CMAA-CCM Certification (or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
