The role of the
Quality Assurance Assistant

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the

will work in a team ensuring that the packing centre maintains its high levels of quality control and food safety. This person will support the implementation of 3rd party and customer standards ensuring all requirements are met. The successful candidate will support audits and compliance projects.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist in carrying out internal audits on a routine basis/ ensure the factory is compliant with all quality regulations & requirements.

· Maintain detailed and accurate records of all quality checks performed during production.

· Ensure HACCP, VACCP and TACCP principles are continuously met for product safety and process control.

· Ensure BRC requirements are maintained as set down in the relevant standard and ensuring traceability is maintained for all lines.

· Ensure cross-checking traceability for each delivery and contact all suppliers to obtain traceability in advance.

· Work closely with the production team to uphold and improve quality standards. Analyse Production Quality KPI's and proactively report trends and liaise with production teams & Farm Officers in problem solving.

· Support with development, implementation, and management of food safety management systems (FSMS) in accordance with current legislation, and to prescribed standards including certification standards, customer standards and industry best practise standards to develop policies, procedures and SOP's and relevant records to ensure the requirements of an effective FSMS is documented and recorded satisfactorily.

· Proactively identify and address hazards to prevent risks to product safety, initiate corrective and preventative actions, and oversee their effective implementation to address problems and drive continuous improvement.

· Work closely with the QA Manager to ensure that corrective actions are delivered, and non-compliance issues are resolved on time.

· Work closely with the QA Manager to review external non-conformance and complete complaint investigations, to ensure a rigorous approach to root cause analysis and that corrective and preventative actions are put in place in a timely manager.

· Monitor compliance of traceability systems, log, trend and communicate results.

· Conduct mass balance exercises as part of customer traceability tests and routinely to verify product "claims".

· Pest control monitoring

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Support:

Qualification and Experience:

ISO17025 Quality Accreditation-Quality System Management

  • Assist in the management and maintenance of ISO17025 Quality Accreditation System;
  • Assist in the training and development of the Quality Team and the laboratory on ISO17025 Quality Accreditation requirements;
  • Assist in the control and collection of all mandatory ISO17025 (INAB), Corporate and Company documents, to meet ISO17025 standards, and work closely with all teams and departments;
  • Assist in maintenance and compliance procedures and track metrics to demonstrate quality achievement-Effectiveness;

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented QA Assistant Manager to support our Quality Assurance department. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Production Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs.
  • Supervise and support QA team members in daily activities, including inspections, testing, and audits.
  • Conduct routine inspections of production lines, raw materials, packaging, and finished products to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and report on key quality non-conformances, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in internal audits
  • Train and coach production staff on quality standards, food safety protocols, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliance.
  • Assist in the development and review of SOPs, quality manuals, and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in quality assurance within the food manufacturing industry
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO, and relevant food safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Assistant/Deputy Quality Manager
to join our team at our yogurt manufacturing facility. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the Quality Manager in overseeing all aspects of quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have
strong auditing experience
, a solid background in food manufacturing, and the leadership potential to
serve as the Quality Manager's successor
in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management and continuous improvement of Food Safety & Quality Management System
    in compliance with relevant standards (e.g., BRCGS, various customer standards (Tesco, Lidl, Musgrave, Aldi, M&S))
  • Lead and manage internal audit programs
    to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company standards.
  • Coordinate third-party audits
    , including preparation, hosting, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Support and mentor the QA team
    , providing guidance and training on quality procedures, policies, and food safety.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Maintenance teams to resolve quality issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Maintain product specifications and ensure raw material and finished product testing meets regulatory and company standards.
  • Review and analyse quality data, trends, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as a deputy in the absence of the Quality Manager.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and departmental goal setting as a key member of the quality leadership team.
  • Prepare for future succession into the
    Quality Manager
    role through ongoing leadership development and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food manufacturing quality assurance
    , with a strong emphasis on
    audit management
    .
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and standards (e.g., BRCGS, HACCP, GMP).
  • Certified Internal Auditor (preferred) or significant auditing experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership ability and a desire to grow into a senior management role.
  • Experience in dairy or cultured products (preferred but not required).

What you'll be doing:

  • Champion compliance across supplier monitoring and control processes
  • Manage customer specifications, questionnaires, and tender documents with accuracy and efficiency

  • Support new product development projects, ensuring products meet both customer and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee calibration of all measuring equipment on site

  • Solid knowledge of HACCP, QMS, BRC, and retailer standards
  • IT savvy with strong attention to detail and organisational skills
