**Job Summary**
You will be a key strategic partner to our global proprietary business, leading product costing, accounting, and process and system enhancements within the centralized cost accounting COE, supporting West's Global manufacturing operations across the globe.
We are seeking an experienced leader for this team who has a strong understanding of cost accounting as well as with business process definition, system implementations, and working cross-functionally with the global leadership team. This role is responsible for managing aspects of manufacturing accounting for multiple plants and setting the strategy around costing for the division. This includes developing and monitoring the accuracy of inventory valuation and standard costs in accordance with GAAP requirements as well as month-end financial closing, reconciliations, and reporting.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Setting strategic goals and long-term objectives within the cost accounting team
- Developing and maintaining policies and procedures within the cost and inventory accounting function and drive consistency and standardization within the wider cost accounting team
- Drive value in West through collaboration with senior leaders to align departmental strategies with organizational goals, and ensure execution on these strategies
- People:
o Lead and mentor a team of professional accountants
o Focus on talent development, building a strong team
o Develop a customer-centric culture in your team with highly collaborative relationships with the relevant stakeholders
- Own inventory valuation and product costing processes within scope of role
- Lead SAP implementation for the FICO module as it relates to plant accounting, product costing, and associated master data as plants transition manufacturing to S4
- Oversee the plant level month end close tasks including the preparation of journal entries, reserve and variance analyses, and account reconciliations for all manufacturing locations supported by the wider cost accounting team
- Responsible for coordinating all the details to develop the annual standard costs in collaboration with FP&A, Supply Chain Planning and Operations
- Ensure appropriate controls and compliance with US GAAP
- Support and assist in the global initiatives relating to cost accounting for all regions/divisions of West
- Support and assist other functions within the business as required
**Education**
+ Bachelor's Degree required
**Work Experience**
+ Minimum 10 years within Cost Accounting with
+ Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in a manufacturing industry required
+ Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as leading the Finance function of a company required
**Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Extensive knowledge of SAP
+ Understanding of the manufacturing environment and the associated financial processes
+ Knowledge of supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, operations process and manufacturing principles
+ Strong ability to assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
+ Ability to effectively analyze transactional level detail in an enterprise resource planning system and articulate the key findings to senior management

**General Ledger Accountant Coordinator**
The General Ledger Accountant Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the management of accounting activities handled by our 3rd Party service provider (Business Process Partner - BPP) who is completing transaction work on behalf of UPS.
This position includes overall governance, review and approval of these activities and ensuring fulfilment of contractual obligations - such as compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and operating level agreements (OLAs) - process management/ improvement, effective communication, and migration of new record-to-report work to the 3rd Party service provider.
The candidate will have working finance and accounting knowledge along with familiarity with RTR (Record to Report) processes. Experience working with vendors is a plus. The General Ledger Accountant Coordinator will facilitate timely and accurate completion of 3rd Party vendor activities within his/her tower in the GAC.
**Job Duties (not restricted to):**
+ Manage Close Activities
+ Approve journal entries generated by the BPP and monitor month-end close progress
+ Prepare for and execute monthly pre/post close calls with the BPP
+ Review the monthly task dashboard & highlight progress, risks, issues, overdue items at the daily close touch points.
+ Performing control checks during the close & remediation of errors
+ Report progress, highlight risks & issues and escalate to key stakeholders and partners
+ Provide Trial Balance Oversight
+ Approve balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the BPP, monitor aged items and assist with resolution of issues and aged reconciling items - facilitate escalation where necessary.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Responsibility for the monthly general ledger close activities for US GAAP
+ Review and preparation of monthly reconciliations & journals to ensure high quality compliance with US GAAP
+ Complete SOX controls in line with control matrix
+ Work closely with outsourced business partner
+ Maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholders and provide information and support as needed
+ Ensure timely completion of Internal and External audits.
+ Identify opportunities for improvement of processes and work on key team projects
+ Support Corporate Function with FP&A activity, including building BTS annual planning and forecasting and ensuring robust financial governance in operation
+ Complete month end close activity for the Corporate function including variance analysis and commentary
+ Other ad-hoc activities

**Abbott Galway** is now recruiting the position of **Senior Accountant** to support our Rapid Diagnostics business.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Ensure adherence of processes to company's policies and procedures, internal and external audit requirements and local rules and regulations; support strengthening of financial processes and controls and continuous process improvement.
+ Interpret accounting guidelines and deliver guidance, insight, and technical expertise on how it relates to general accounting scenarios.
+ Support resolution of complex accounting and tax issues.
+ Lead the transition of GL functions both into and out of the shared service centre.
+ Provide financial support to local, regional and global projects, as required.
+ Perform ad hoc and special projects assignments, as required.
+ Participate in process improvement reviews across current finance structure, identify areas requiring change and lead the change process.
+ Lead & take ownership for delivery of functional projects across GL Team as required.
+ Review and correction of journal entries and balance reconciliations at month end and identify corrective actions.
+ Collaboration with external audit staff for periodic year-end review procedures and local statutory audits as required.
**Education & Experience**
+ Accounting Qualification - ACA, ACCA, CIMA
+ Third Level Degree or equivalent
+ 3-5 years relevant experience - preferably with Shared Service Centre and multinational corporation background
+ SAP/Oracle or other major ERP Systems experience is desirable
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
+ Able to work alone to understand and summarise financial data into high quality, accurate and usable summaries
+ Strong computer skills especially MS Office
+ Fluency in a European language an advantage
+ Occasional travel may be required

We are looking for an experienced General Ledger Accountant to join our Galway team. **Please note this position is a 12 month fixed term contract**
Key Responsibilities:
+ Preparation of monthly financial reports including analysis of Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss;
+ Preparation and review of Statutory Financial Statements;
+ Liaising with external auditors for periodic and year-end review procedures for local statutory audits;
+ Liaising with Tax Specialists and Advisors ensuring compliance with all external reporting requirements including VAT, Corporation tax, CSO, etc.;
+ Assisting with requirements for SOX Compliance and Reporting;
+ Preparation, analysis and posting of journals at month end;
+ Preparation and analysis of balance sheet reconciliations at month end;
+ Ensure compliance with Corporate policies and accounting standards;
+ Enhancement of existing processes and development of new ones to ensure the most efficient completion of duties.
What you'll need:
+ Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA equiv) with strong technical accounting skills.
+ Third Level Degree or equivalent.
+ 0-5 years relevant experience - preferably with Shared Service Centre and multinational corporation background.
+ SAP/Oracle or other major ERP Systems experience is desirable.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
+ Be an effective team player with ability to work under own initiative.
+ Strong computer skills especially MS Office.
