Job Summary:
The candidate will be partially based in the office (location to be agreed following appointment) and partially on site, and will report directly to the Senior Asset Planning Engineer in the Asset Planning Maintenance Team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Senior Asset Planning Engineer for the prioritisation and identification of Water and Wastewater process sites with Asbestos.
  • Be able to review Asbestos Risk Assessment Surveys carried out by others and devise an Asbestos strategy for that building / site to bring it up to Health & Safety and other statutory legislation standards.
  • Scoping out the requirements for existing Asbestos management control, remediation works including removal and disposal of Asbestos to relevant statutory legislation.
  • Be able to conduct an Asbestos risk assessment survey on existing process site buildings and identify deficiencies with Health & Safety and Building Regulations compliance.
  • Be competent in Asbestos Safety and Management.
  • Be competent in auditing Asbestos remediation works on site.
  • Play a key role in stakeholder management with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performing other such duties in relation to work and asset management as required.
  • Establish an Asbestos Register.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant engineering or scientific qualifications to third level, Asbestos or relevant Health & Safety Qualification.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience working in the area / management of Asbestos Remediation and Standard Operating Procedures for areas with existing Asbestos where work activity is on-going.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and statutory compliance with respect to Asbestos and materials containing Asbestos.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Develop strategic relationships and promote cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead a culture of change and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and guide teams to deliver and provide coaching in the development of the technical skills and abilities in others.

What you can expect in a typical day
:

The Functional Safety Engineer is accountable for all lifecycles associated with Safety Instrumented Systems in support of Technical, Maintenance, Operations, HSE and Capital Projects. This extends to informing the organization of new discipline legislation and auditing compliance with IEC 61511, driving company awareness and resulting implementation. This is to ensure functional safety is maintained and improved where possible across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for reviewing and maintaining SIS/Functional Safety documents.
  • Accountable for providing functional safety expertise for Process Safety Studies, e.g. PHAs, HAZID's/HAZOPs, SIL reviews and LOPAs.
  • Provide functional safety training and guidance across all disciplines onsite.
  • Plan/coordinate all necessary functional safety activities encompassing the life cycle of the product, while also defining project responsibilities regarding functional safety (safety plan).
  • Create/publish reports regarding the functional safety status monthly for KPI reports.
  • Prepare Safety requirements, Functional safety assessment, Site acceptance test and proof test procedures.
  • Provide support during commissioning of functional safety systems.
  • Perform safety validation, revalidation and verification activities using ExSILtia software.
  • Participate in risk assessment activities as the Functional safety SME related to functional safety.
  • Assist the Maintenance Department in addressing Functional Safety issues including management and updating of existing proof test procedures and technical support for replacement of SIL rated equipment.

Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae in all pack sizes under the brand name "Similac". To complement the range of "Similac" infant formulae, the facility also manufactures a range of follow-on formulae under the brand name of "Gain". The essential ingredient is liquid skim-milk and this is combined with carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins and minerals. The product is blended, pasteurised, dried and packaged at the site and once packaged, is distributed to Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada.

Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility for the production of infant formulae within the Abbott Corporation worldwide. Primary Function I Goals / Objectives

  • The Food Safety Specialist has the responsibility for reviewing all SOP's for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure he/she fully understands and adheres to the SOP.
  • The Food Safety Specialist provides guidance and direction of plant sanitation for manufacturing operations, warehouse and plant grounds.
  • The purpose of the job is to implement food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance policies, procedures and training.
  • This Job function will change where update procedures to GMP, EHS, Technical/ New Equipment, Quality Procedures & SOP's are made.
  • This list of responsibilities may change depending on plant needs and employees are expected to be adaptable and flexible were this need arises.

Major Responsibilities
The role of the Food Safety Specialist is part of the site's success and compliance by:

  • Driving and implementing holistic plant sanitation programs, policies and procedures for plant, warehouse and plant grounds; Assuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and all food safety policies and procedures
  • Acting as sanitation support in the process of assessing and mitigating safety risk associated with construction and major maintenance.
  • Collaborate/Coordinate with Facility Supervisor, Operations Leadership, Operations Associates and Site Cleaning staff to achieve desired Environmental Monitoring performance and Pest Control performance
  • Evaluating facility sanitary conditions, assessing risk based on food safety and public health principles, prioritizing corrective actions, and verifying sanitation activities and validation testing
  • Evaluating monthly environmental samples for monitoring of pathogenic organisms in plant, trending the results and developing corrective actions
  • Conformance to master cleaning schedule and applicable cGMP guidelines, best practices and requirements.
  • Assist in developing and implementing all sanitation related training for sanitation and plant employees as needed;
  • Ensures all safety requirements related to sanitation are met including proper

chemical storage, MSDS, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and procedures.

  • Maintaining and writing detailed clean up procedures and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures for all plant equipment, driving towards reduced water and air usage.

Education & Experience
You will have BSc a in plant quality/food safety/Sanitation with a minimum of 3yrs experience in a similar role with demonstrated Leadership skills (direct or cross functionally leadership skills)

Certification as a Sanitarian and Pesticide Application is an advantage for this role

Key Skills

  • Understanding and application of microbiological principles with in depth food borne pathogen knowledge.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Sanitation principles and Food Safety Preventive Controls (FSPC)
  • Understanding of the appropriate wet cleaning and dry cleaning methodology.

About The Role
As a Road Safety Auditor, you will be responsible for assessing and evaluating road infrastructure to identify safety risks, ensuring compliance with road safety standards, and contributing to the development of safer transport systems across the country. You will work closely with engineering teams, local authorities, and contractors to improve road safety across new and existing road networks through the defined Road Safety Audit process.

About You
You will be experienced in conducting Road Safety Audits on private development and public investment schemes such as new roads schemes, road modifications, active travel schemes, private developments, Quality Audits, Road User Audits and DMURS audits.   • Leads/participates in cross functional teams for EHS issue resolution or for new equipment/process approval.
  • Provides consultation and assists with initiatives related to EHS projects and programs to include, but not limited to: maintaining Plant's Hazard Communication Plan, Hearing Conservation Program and other programs as required by local law.
  • Assists in development of safe work practices, institutes and revises lockout/tag-out procedures, confined space/permit program and, process safety rule procedures.
  • Conducts safety audits, supports inspections & maintains local regulatory required documentation.
  • Works on the development of hazardous incident procedures.
  • Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of safety programs such as: management systems requirements, hazard communication, control of change, reporting site key performance factors, personal protective equipment, emergency response plan, regulatory reporting and data collection. 
  • Maintains site permits and complies with all reporting and permit application requirements under all related local and regional laws and regulations.
  • Performs facility tours and inspections of manufacturing operations and office.  Ensures compliance with EHS policies including operating procedures and protective equipment requirements.  Mentors sites for the implementation of Global and Regional EHS initiatives.
  • Coordinates with process engineering departments and operations management to review and revise process procedures and equipment. 
  • May be required to train other department employees to perform internal EHS management systems audits.  May be required to perform quality system audits to reciprocate for quality department audit service provided against EHS systems.
  • Develops employee’s safety training and awareness programs.  Audits site employee safety orientations, hazardous communication training and emergency evacuation training for effectiveness and records to meet Jabil, governmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitates Jabil customer requirements as well as Jabil Sr. Management initiatives to implement site-regional and/or global certification programs at all levels required. Works closely with Business Unit Managers to insure that customer specific EHS requirements/records are identified, recorded and fully addressed.
  • May author global documentation in support of global EHS management systems.
  • May be responsible for submitting global reports to outside agents including, but not limited to customers, governmental agencies.
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security and records management policies.
  • May lead or participate on a team responsible for accident/incident investigations.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in analyzing manufacturing processes, evaluating production machinery.
  • Experience in implementing and/or maintaining ISO 14001 and 45001 standards (non-negotiable)
  • Working knowledge of all applicable local, regional and international government regulations that apply to employees’ health and safety & hazardous substances management.
  • Strong technical and organizational skills with a preferred demonstrated track record of timely compliance with filing requirements of various regulatory agencies.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfortable in leading meetings and formally presenting recommendations. English speaking and writing skills a requirement.
  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), email, and database management skills required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related Health/Safety Engineering experience. 
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

We are looking for Senior Fire Safety Engineers to join the infrastructure team in our Dublin office. Candidate will be required to assist in Fire Safety Engineering design and monitoring of building and site development projects. The role will involve working on exciting projects across various sectors including Transport, Leisure, Educational, Commercial, Healthcare, Industrial, Storage and Residential for both public and private clients.

Preference will be given to those whose qualification is suitable to attain the title of Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland. A driving licence and own transport is required.
