One of Europe's leading building contractors has an exceptional opportunity to work on a high profile commercial construction project in Dublin City. The project is currently in delivery phase and they are looking to source a Senior Safety Advisor on site to work with an established safety team. The role will report to a Safety Manager who is collaborative and passionate about safety and people. Your Qualifications And Key Criteria
To be considered for the role of Health and Safety Specialist, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • 3rd Level Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in a Health and Safety management environment. (Experience in aviation would be advantageous).
  • Experience in developing and maintaining internationally recognised occupational safety management systems (I.e. ISO45001 & ISO45003).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Personable and approachable.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at management and operator levels within an organisation.
  • A team player (with ability to work off own initiative when required).
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
  • Experience in Interpreting safety metrics and effectively communicating insights to leadership to drive action and accountability.
  • Provide 2 verifiable references.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.

Your role

The Safety Specialist Manager is a People Manager role, responsible for leading the team of Corporate Safety Officers (Safety Specialists) and overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Aer Lingus' risk management policies and procedures. This role ensures alignment with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and the company's integrated (safety) Management System (MS), supporting a proactive and resilient safety culture across all operational and maintenance domains.

This role shall manage the data structure, quality and processes for safety databases to improve end user experience and increase productivity thus contributing greatly to the quality of our ability to manage risk.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the team of Safety Specialists, including Flight Safety, Risk, Dangerous Goods, and Emergency Response Planning Officers.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture aligned with Aer Lingus values and safety objectives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional safety initiatives and ensure consistent application of safety practices across departments.
  • Own and evolve the corporate risk management framework, including Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) processes.

  • Act as a key liaison between the DSS, operational departments, and external regulatory bodies.
  • Represent Aer Lingus at industry forums, regulatory meetings, and safety working groups.
  • Promote Just Culture principles and facilitate open communication on safety matters.
  • Emergency & Crisis Preparedness:
  • Support the Emergency Response Planning Officer in maintaining readiness and executing the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Participate in emergency exercises and post-incident reviews.
  • Ensure all documentation is maintained and up to date, incorporating relevant legislation changes, industry best practice changes etc.
  • Manage & support Aer Lingus senior management and external advisors on a range of ad hoc projects supporting the strategic development of safety
  • Fulfil role of Safety Manager in the event of an Emergency Response, coordinating with DSS in Strategic Response Centre.
  • Day-to-day management of Safety & Security Office including logistical and administrative support
Your qualifications and key criteria
  • Proven leadership experience in aviation safety, risk management, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of ICAO Safety Management Systems and EASA regulations.
  • Experience with safety data analysis tools (e.g., FDM, SafetyNet) and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Relevant academic qualifications in aviation safety, risk management, or a related discipline.
  • Training in Fatigue Risk Management, Accident Investigation, and Dangerous Goods (desirable).

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager the successful Health & Safety Officer will be involved in the following support production, maintain utilities, develop projects & ensure EHS compliance.

  • Maintains the Chemical Register for the site and works with the relevant stakeholders to introduce new chemicals to the site.
  • Emergency Response Planning for the site inclusive of training teams based on risk profile for the site.
  • Manages the Contractors Management and the Permit to Work Process for the site.
  • Provide monthly Metrics reports for the site and ensure on time submission of monthly reports to Corporate EHS in CURVE.
  • Chairs and leads bi-monthly meetings with the sites EHS Refresh Team ensuring compliance to the relevant standards is met as well as key deliverables.
  • Creates and delivers presentations for the EHS Management Reviews.
  • Provide and develop Chemical Awareness, Manual Handling and EHS Induction Training, Contractor Management, Permit to Work and other Safety Training as required.
  • Perform quarterly walkdowns / audits / program reviews to ensure compliance with the Standard and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support for Good Saves, Incident & accident investigations and close out of CAPA's in CURVE
  • Assist in the preparation, implementation, and review of EHS Procedures and other EHS documents appropriate to the scope of site activities and in compliance with requirements and ISO14001:2015 implementation.
  • Provide technical support for the site risk assessment / JSA program and assist in implementing appropriate control measures for identified risks.
  • She/he will have a strong EHS general/technical knowledge and experience in the MedTech industry or equivalent, be a strong effective communicator with all stakeholders.
    She/he will be a strong collaborator with a proven track and a strong networker able to leverage EHS expertise on and off site.

Key requirements:

  • A relevant third level qualification in Science, Engineering or EHS, with at least 5 years' experience in the environment, health, and safety area, ideally in the MedTech or Pharma industry.
  • Good overall knowledge of legal requirements and best practices in Environment, Health, and Safety
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Excellent Computer skills and Knowledge of EHS software management systems
  • Knowledge of Chemicals and Chemical Safety
  • Good computer skills with the ability to create dashboards, work in Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to track and trend KPI's, assembling information into clearly written reports, documented findings or recommendations and communicate this progress in an easily understandable manner to all stakeholders.

DESIRABLE:

  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 would be a distinct advantage.
