About the Role
We're seeking a professional, customer‑focused Security Guard / Loss Prevention Officer to help keep our retail environment safe, compliant, and welcoming. You'll deter theft, respond to incidents, support colleagues with stock loss prevention, and protect customers and team members while upholding our brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a visible, proactive security presence on the shop floor, stockroom, and delivery areas.
- Deter, detect, and resolve theft and fraud in line with company policy and the law (non‑confrontational, evidence‑based approach).
- Monitor CCTV (where applicable) and conduct floor/exit checks, bag checks, and receipt validation in line with GDPR and store policy.
- Complete accurate incident, witness, and evidential reports; preserve evidence in accordance with procedures.
- Liaise professionally with store management, colleagues, centre/retail park security, Gardaí, and third‑party partners.
- Conduct regular patrols, risk checks, and safety observations; escalate hazards (slips/trips, blocked fire exits, suspicious activity, etc.).
- Support delivery days: queue/traffic control, stockroom integrity, and controlled access to back‑of‑house areas.
- Assist with civil recovery/evidence packs and support formal statements when required.
- Use radio/comms professionally; maintain situational awareness and excellent customer service at all times.
- Contribute to shrink‑reduction action plans
Essential Requirements & Licences
- Valid PSA (Private Security Authority) Licence – Security Guard (Guarding) (Licence Number to be verified).
- Right to work in Ireland, with checkable employment/education history with suitable references.
- Strong knowledge of retail security best practice, relevant Irish legislation, and GDPR in relation to CCTV/incident data.
- Proven experience in a retail security/loss‑prevention role (or similar customer‑facing security environment).
- Confident, calm, and respectful when engaging with the public; able to de‑escalate conflict professionally.
- Excellent observation, report writing, and communication skills; fluent English.
- Physically able to stand/walk for long periods and respond quickly to incidents.
- Basic IT literacy (incident systems, email, handheld devices).
Desirable skills (but not mandatory)
First Aid Responder (FAR), Manual Handling, or Fire Warden certification.
Training in conflict management / physical intervention (non‑aggressive).
Knowledge of civil recovery processes and evidence handling.
Experience with retail CCTV monitoring and evidence export.
Hours & Roster
Ideally seeking multiple candidates to cover across 7 day rota
Flexibility to cover shifts at short notice is an advantage.
