Role Overview
The European Technology department of Canada Life Group Services provides critical services that underpin the daily operations, business growth and delivery of business strategies.
We deliver the technology and connectivity for the day-to-day running of these businesses and their interactions with partners and customers on a 24 x 7 basis. We also protect the business from disruptive events or threats.
We are looking for a candidate to join the Network Security team as a Senior Security Specialist. The Network Security team report to the Head of Security Operations, providing security services to the European group of companies. The Senior Security specialist will report to the Network Security Manager within Central Security Services.
What you will help us to achieve
This position is to Manage the optimisation, integration & customisation of security technologies within the Network Security Team. Focus on continuous improvement and to seek opportunities to exceed expectations. Specifically, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Promoting awareness of Cyber risks and policies across the business.
- Management and administration of security technologies and services.
- Responds to incident and problem management efficiently and effectively documenting lessons learned and future prevention, and completing the tasks on service rota when assigned.
- Carries out technology deployments, building and deploying new Security infrastructure
- Maintain and promote security policies, standards and awareness
- Acts as a role model in executing governance and compliance policies and procedures and participates in audit reviews of same
- Act as a project resource and maintain strong relationships with the other technology teams and our Canadian peers.
- Act as a champion for security technology process and or requirements.
- Ensure that adequate controls are in place, with appropriate dashboards and metrics for your service.
- Advises and coaches more junior staff in the team
- Any other duties as assigned by your manager
What you will need to be successful in the role
The successful candidate ideally should have:
- Third level qualification in Information Security or IT, or equivalent work or education-related experience preferable.
- At least 3-5 years' experience in an IT Security industry role, with hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations and five plus years' experience in the IT industry.
- Proven hand on experience and knowledge of the following security technologies including configuration, monitoring and issue resolution of Web Gateway, Web Application Firewall, IDS/IPS.
- Deals with technical issues - dealing with multiple systems and multiple features.
- Implement components of the technical infrastructure and be a resource for other technologists, architects and management
- Owns the resolution of incidents and problems. Acts as lead technologist. Ensures that solutions arrived at are comprehensive and of high quality.
- Ensures that their assigned tickets are actively managed and positive impact on the teams SLA.
- Provides leadership to and advises, coaches and mentors' less senior staff.
- Acts as a role model in executing governance and compliance policies and procedures and participates in audit reviews of same.
- Have the ability to identify gaps in process and systems and identify automation opportunities to improve the service delivery.
- Develop Dashboards in Service Now and automation of reporting in Power BI.

- Oversee the artefact management o Review and manage key governance artefacts to ensure compliance and oversight. o Ensure artefacts are correctly stored within the designated Product & Technology repository. o Maintain accessibility of relevant information for the right stakeholders at the right time. o Identify and rectify any missing or misfiled artefacts to support regulatory compliance and enhance governance
- Oversee all IT and Security audit engagements. o Serve as the primary mediator between the Product and Technology teams and Internal Audit during audit engagements. Facilitate the collection of relevant documentation, coordinate with key stakeholders for fieldwork, and ensure effective tracking and resolution of audit findings. o Monitor the resolution of any audit findings across outsourced service providers and internally and ensure these are documented accordingly. o Establish action tracking and deliver reporting monthly o Verify that optimum controls are in place and operating effectively o Conduct formal monitoring to ensure that Product and Technology controls are being met, document results and ensure remediation and training where necessary.
- Ensure adequate oversight of Incident, Problem and Change as part of reporting metrics and continual service improvement in line with controls.
- Manage the engagement with the Risk Function as SPOC. o Support the completion of annual risk assessments Act as SME on risk work completing first pass on RCSA / RAS / KRI/s /Process & Risk Taxonomies o Chair and manage the monthly ICT Risk Register meetings Ensure actions and approvals are managed to timelines and shared to Risk Function.
- Keep up to date on delivery of all new technology and functionality, ensure relevant controls are updated and adhered to.
- Ensure documentation meets required industry and corporate standards and Supervise and support the Policy Review cadence in the company.
- Manage the preparation of the Board and Board Committee materials and ensure that items are submitted within the relevant deadlines.

Each SEC filing contains thousands of characters of text and tables in multifaceted sections. A single study by the IMF processed 4 million news articles. The students will work to create a toolkit that showcases an AI solution targeted at fintech.
Key job responsibilities
- You will manage a chat queue, phone communications, generate and/or manage trouble tickets, handle incoming chats, and provide support to customers.
- Drive security awareness campaigns aimed at enhancing security vigilance and effectiveness

About the team

- Experience working in a data centre environment.
