Your new company
A Site Engineer is required to work on large civils project (flood relief schemes) in the Midwest region.To assist with the completion of various schemes, there is an immediate requirement to appoint a Site Engineer. The Site Engineer will be required to work on drainage maintenance and capital projects across the Southwest Region. Areas covered by the Southwest Region include schemes in counties Limerick, Kerry, Galway, Clare and Tipperary. The Site Engineer will be assigned to their respective area/s and project/s as the business need dictates. Site Engineer will predominately work out of their assigned office and will be expected to travel to their respective assigned sites within the Southwest Region on an as-necessary basis. The Arterial Drainage Maintenance and Construction Services is responsible for the management of the maintenance requirements of drainage schemes and for the construction and maintenance of capital flood relief schemes. The works involve:
- Maintaining the Arterial Drainage and Flood Relief Schemes and the existing Coastal Protection Schemes in proper repair and effective condition.
- Managing the construction of a few flood relief schemes through the Direct Managed Works Model and assist in the management of schemes being delivered by contract.
- Management of large capital and structure upgrade and refurbishment works programs
- Planning and managing direct labour crews in the delivery of channel maintenance operations in accordance with works programmes.
- Planning and managing direct labour and external contactors in the delivery of the structure maintenance programme, including the upgrade and replacement of bridges and ancillary structures (sluices, culverts etc.)
- Installation of culverts, sluices and upgrades to various existing structures.
- Planning and managing direct labour and external contactors in the delivery of the embankment maintenance programme.
- Delivery and management of large capital works programmes, including embankment upgrade works and sluice replacement programmes.
- Execution of Flood Relief Scheme Maintenance activities.
- Assessment of Coastal & Non-Coastal Minor Works Applications including Coastal Erosion in conjunction with Hydrology& Coastal Section
The working hours will be from 09:00 to 17:00 hours from Monday to Friday, inclusive. On occasion, the successful candidate will be expected to work outside these hours as business needs dictate. Candidates must have at least 3 years' experience with a main contractor on construction of civil engineering projects.
Experience of river / flood defence work would be an advantage.
The following are the essential requirements for a candidate to be considered.
- Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering;
- 3 years' experience with a main contractor on the construction of civil engineering projects;
- Current Safe Pass Card.
- Valid driving licence;
- Use of own transport.
The role requires the management of the day-to-day activities of a direct labour workforce of up to 20 personnel and specialist subcontractors. The following is a non-exhaustive list of duties for the Site Engineer:
- Organisation, direction and supervision of project construction and maintenance, including direction and supervision of the direct labour force
- Production of method statements and risk assessments and checking that work is carried out in accordance with such documentation.
- Setting out including levelling / Total-station / GPS work in accordance with the drawings and specifications provided.
- Assisting in the assessment of Section 50 and Minor Works applications.
- Monitoring the works and ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with the design drawings and specifications.
- Managing the Quality Assurance file, including but not limited to the following; concrete QA including making of concrete cubes, earthworks QA, Survey QA including maintenance of etc.
- Investigation and reporting on matters arising from project construction and maintenance, including review of technical reports and outputs prepared by engineering consultants as part of the delivery of flood relief schemes
- Liaising with other public bodies, local authorities, local organisations and individuals, including the assessment of applications for funding from local authorities to undertake minor flood alleviation and coastal protection works
- Implementing QA procedures, concrete pre- / post-pour checks, RFI's and resolving technical issues
- Management of subcontractors.
- Disseminate information from drawings, specifications, etc. to supervisors, operatives, subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required
- Interpret design plans, specifications, and technical drawings to determine accurate on-site locations, measurements, and levels for construction activities.
- Providing assistance with the procurement of goods and services.
- Attending site meetings.
- Liaising with the local authority and stakeholders, including statutory agencies.
- Disseminate information from drawings, specifications, etc. to supervisors, operatives, subcontractors, so that they clearly understand what is required
- Prepare and maintain accurate site reports and records, including daily diaries, site inspections, and progress reports
- Interpret design plans, specifications, and technical drawings to determine accurate on-site locations, measurements, and levels for construction activities.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including setting out records, as-built drawings, and quality control reports.
- Utilise computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant software tools for data analysis, modelling, and documentation purposes.
- Provide guidance and technical support to construction teams and subcontractors to ensure accurate execution of setting out activities.
- Implement company health, safety, environmental and quality policies in conjunction with the Safety Officer & PM

We are recruiting for a Senior Engineer / Sub Agent to join our civil team on a project based in South Dublin.
The Glenamuck District Distributor Road Scheme is the first project of our new Framework Agreement with our Client Dunlaoghaire Rathdown County Council.
This project includes the construction of 890m of four lane dual carriageway, 1800 m of dual carriageway, existing junction upgrades, and includes structures, drainage, utilities, Accommodation Works and substantial traffic and pedestrian management with the existing live roads in the area.
Your mission
- Prepare programme and working budget with your manager: synchronise with labour and plant budgets, decide critical path & ensure day-to-day activities are prioritised and planned.
- Ensure the works are carried out in accordance with the contract documents and relevant Instructions.
- Identify and analyse problem areas/activities – particularly those with cost or program
- Organise and schedule resources in a productive and cost effective manner.
- Manage the flow of information and documentation. Ensure all documentation relevant to the Contract (technical, financial contractual, and administrative) is prepared in a timely manner. Ensure effective systems exist for the tracking of dockets, the approval of labour & plant allocation sheets, etc.
- Arrange and run weekly site meetings - delegate action items and follow up. Support your foreman.
- Check outputs, quantities, critical activities and costs on a weekly basis (costs vs. budget re labour, plant, material, sub-contractors and day-works). Give feedback to Tendering dept. on actual outputs.

- Procure, negotiate and let subcontract and supplier packages in conjunction with the PQS, your manager and purchasing department where appropriate. Enforce the 'calling off ' of materials.
- Implement the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) on site. Ensure that the Site Quality Plan is developed from the QMS and that all personnel on site, including subcontractors personnel, are fully aware of their requirements and that they operate the system effectively.
- Review and approve temporary works methods. Implement in accordance with the Company Temporary Works Procedures.
- Maintain the trust of others in your day-to-day dealings, and in so far as it depends on you, maintain good relations with the client's team - keep them informed of program, plans, claims & delays.
- Manage & lead those staff assigned to the project. Recruit, select, develop, inspire, praise, correct & discipline as appropriate. Monitor industrial relations issues with the hourly-paid workforce.
- Conduct performance reviews with all subordinate staff. Ensure site staff receive relevant and appropriate training. Mentor junior staff.
- Assume the duties of a senior engineer where necessary.

Field Engineer (Surveying Engineer)
As an Engineer / Surveyor at XYZ, you'll be wearing the Atom and using it to eliminate construction and design errors on site, which would otherwise lead to costly and time-consuming rework. You'll visualise the design models in holograms through the visor, and provide regular updates of potential clashes/errors in what has been, or is to be, installed by verifying what you're seeing in front of you.
You may work on a project long term (multiple months/years at a time) or for short term cover/deployment to set up a new project, during a project peak that requires more resource or whilst another Engineer is unavailable.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting daily site inspections using the Atom (Augmented Reality headset) to ensure works are installed/being installed correctly, as per the BIM Model.
- Using a Robotic Total Station; establish and maintain our primary control network on site for the longevity of the project.
- Producing reports based on the inspections from that day.
- Attending meetings to coordinate with contractors to plan daily activities.
- Processing and reviewing all acquired data to ensure it is accurate and reliable.
- Reporting to the Senior FAE / FAE Manager, maintaining an efficient workflow and ensuring all requested inspections are conducted within the specified time frame.
- Working with the Contractor to devise a weekly lookahead of inspections in line with the master construction programme in order to de-risk incorrect installation from taking place in the field.
- Obtaining and preparing the latest approved Revit models to export into HoloSite
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
- A qualification in land surveying, geospatial or geodetic engineering, mechanical, electrical or civil engineering, construction management, construction engineering, BIM, or similar
- Ability to operate a Total Station
- Experience working on construction projects
- A strong work ethic, ambition and interest in new technology
- Any knowledge related to 3D software (Revit, Navisworks etc) or BIM / BIM360 is desirable
- Must be confident in using Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word & Excel

- Typically 4+ years' experience with a main contractor on comparable large‑scale commercial/residential or mixed‑use builds. Experience in RC frame, foundations, brickwork, cladding etc.
