High Voltage Expert & Vehicle Diagnostic Technician

Pilsen Auto - is seeking to further strengthen our team with an enthusiastic, motivated Volkswagen Audi Group Qualified Diagnostic Technician.

The candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience at a senior technician level & undertake the repair and servicing of vehicles having a key focus on diagnosing faults across the team & the service dept., ensuring all work is completed safely, to the highest standards and to customer satisfaction.

This position will include support driving productivity across the department. Working closely with our Workshop Controller highlighting any issue that need attention & proposing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring exceptional customer service standards are met.
  • Demonstrates the Pilsen Auto First Customer Behaviours in daily activities and in all interactions with customers.
  • Questions and probes issues to find an effective resolution for all customers.
  • Leading by example in all aspects, supporting & assisting in motiving each team member when required.
  • Take responsibility for the repair and servicing of vehicles.
  • Completing work orders including details of repairs completed, parts required and labour to be charged.
  • Analysing work orders and assesses the accuracy of the diagnosis across the workshop.
  • Tests vehicles using measuring devices and provide diagnostic reports.
  • Interprets and uses technical data and instruction provided by the manufacturer (e.g., Skoda System)
  • Ensures any faults have been reported and noted on job cards and inform the Service Manager of any additional faults not covered in the scope of the repair and delay to completion.
  • Inform the Service Advisor and parts department if a part needs to be ordered.
  • Ensures vehicles are protected and kept clean during service and repair.
  • Ensures vehicle safety standards have been complied with when returned to customers.
  • Carries out vehicle health checks and identifies areas of concern.
  • Conducts routine service work on vehicles brought into the workshop.
  • Performs technical repair work in accordance with established and documented procedures.
  • Records all hours and material usage accurately and probes for efficiencies.
  • Checks quality of work through diagnostic and road testing.
  • Ensures all work is completed to Manufacturer standards and rules.

Works as a full member of the Dealership Team

  • As a Diagnostic Technician support the team to meet objectives with key focus in the area of Diagnostic.
  • Work with colleagues and other teams across the Dealership to seek out and deliver continuous improvements and provide a seamless service to customers.
  • Plans and delivers training sessions to support the development of Technicians & Apprentice Technicians in Diagnostics.
  • Uses feedback to improve own skills and performance.
  • Maintains a professional manner and high standards of personal presentation at all times, ensuring that work area and protective clothing is kept clean, tidy and in a safe condition to uphold Pilsen Auto and dealer standards.
  • Adheres to legal, environmental and health and safety requirements whilst ensuring the safety and security of people, vehicles and property at all times, reporting any known faults or hazards.

The Project
The role is within the chief infrastructure office of a semi-state organisation in Ireland. Overview of role:

Design & Engineering Execution:

· Lead the electrical design of HV/MV substations (AIS and GIS) including:

o Primary design, lightning design, earthing design, and cable routing.

· Supervise and coordinate outsourced design consultants and engineering service providers, ensuring adherence to project requirements, quality standards, and schedules.

· Prepare and review technical specifications for major equipment: power transformers, switchgear, CTs/VTs, and perform calculations for major materials (ie. Busbar, cables, etc.).

· Perform system studies: short-circuit, load flow, CT and VT suitability calculation and earthing.

· Ensure compliance with Irish Grid Code, IEC standards, and relevant health & safety (HSA) regulations.

· Coordinate with civil, structural, and control and protection/telecom design teams to ensure interface alignment.

· Review supplier documentation, manage FATs, and provide technical oversight during installation and commissioning (with limited visits to site).

Essential Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

· Degree in Electrical Engineering (Level 8 or above).

· Minimum 7–10 years of experience in substation design.

· Familiarity with EirGrid /ESB specifications (desirable) and TSO/DSO procedures.

· Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward chartership (Engineers Ireland), preferred

but not essential.

· Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP/DigSILENT, EPLAN and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Strong communication skills with experience in client-facing and interdisciplinary roles.

  • Hands-on experience with electrical design software, such as SolidWorks Electrical or EPLAN.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial machinery safety systems and compliance with standards and directives.
  • Proven experience working with robotic systems, servo drives, and custom machine designs.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with components such as AC/DC motors, servo systems, sensors, power distribution systems, and control panels.
  • Understanding of functional safety, risk assessment methodologies, and the integration of safety devices.

Role Overview

Davenham Switchgear Ltd, a Legrand group company are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer (Switchgear) to join our industry-leading Electrical Engineering team based in Clondalkin, Dublin22.

This is a fully onsite role, where you will collaborate with stakeholders to design and manage electrical switchgear assemblies. The successful candidate will have prior experience in the design of low-voltage switchgear products and should be proficient in AutoCAD. Experience with other design software is also an advantage.

You will manage various projects from inception to completion, overseeing the design process or providing technical expertise on specialised projects. This role involves managing multiple projects concurrently, ensuring seamless project delivery and maintaining our high client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design: Participate in all aspects of the electrical design process for switchgear control units, from concept to completion.
  • Develop: schematic designs, wiring diagrams and layout drawings using CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, EPLAN) and ensure all designs meet company and national standards and safety regulations.
  • Project Management: Oversee the entire project lifecycle as the point of contact, including scope management, design approval, and ensuring timely deliveries. Coordinate with production teams to manage scope changes, project milestones, and client expectations. Attend vendor meetings and manage outsourced services (e.g., 3D/BIM modelling).
  • Team collaboration and client engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships, handling technical inquiries, project updates, and ensuring smooth handovers. Prepare for and lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), supporting clients with test documentation and guidance through the FAT process.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Manage and submit all necessary documentation throughout the project, including as-built drawings, test certificates, warranty information, and final handover documents (H2C). Ensure proper handover documentation and O+M Manuals are uploaded to client systems on completion of each phase/project.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 - 4 years of post-graduate experience, ideally in LV switchgear design
  • Experience in producing drawings, calculations, and technical specifications
  • Familiarity with engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and industry standards
  • Effective time management skills to meet tight project deadlines
  • Certification in Project Management is an added advantage

Personal Qualities

About the role

ROD is focused on the delivery of large-scale public infrastructure projects, and we are excited to be expanding our energy team to capitalise on the Government's commitment to the expansion and renewal of the energy grid.

Reporting to our senior electrical engineer, you will be supporting the delivery of our increasing number of energy projects, which currently include:

  • electrification of Cork Area Commuter Rail Network, with associated grid extensions and substations
  • various grid connections for private energy developers
  • HV cable diversions to support transportation infrastructure
  • planning applications for new ESB substations

You will be required to have ample knowledge of power generation, power system planning, power system protection and power system transmission and distribution.

Essential
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
  • At least two years' post-qualification experience in the design or construction of energy projects, such as wind and solar farms, high voltage substations and/or HV cable systems
  • Good knowledge of EirGrid and ESB standards
  • Good knowledge of the design and construction of energy projects
  • Experience in preparing reports
  • Experience in implementing quality procedures and records
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Desirable
