Our growing UK&I Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) team is looking for a Principal Environmental Compliance & Permitting Consultant in Ireland to support the delivery of the EHS compliance and permitting business across our existing client base and new clients. The role is to participate with our team in the delivery of a broad range of EHS compliance and permitting services across many sectors including, but not limited to, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals/Biopharmaceuticals, Water, Alternative Fuels, Hi Tech, Commercial and Energy.
This role would suit a consultant with proven industry experience in environmental compliance and permitting. Experience in Industrial Emissions / Integrated Pollution Control licensing in the Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical sector is important. Some health and safety experience and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards would also be beneficial.
You will play a key role in supporting the growth and continued success of the Environmental compliance and permitting business in the UK and Ireland. Based within a specialist team but working as part of the wider AECOM business you would provide environmental compliance and permitting support across all industry sectors, through a combination of global framework agreements and site-specific commissions. You would support AECOM's clients from established process industries, manufacturing and power generation companies with the management of compliance requirements for current and planned activities. AECOM is also helping to shape the development of good compliance practice for the transition to a low carbon economy.
**As our EHS & Remediation team covers Ireland & UK, and as we support hybrid working we are flexible in terms of base location. This position can be based from our offices in Dublin, Cork or Belfast.**
**_Here's what you'll do:_**
**Environmental Permitting and Compliance Support**
+ Advising clients on the implications for their business of legislation, environmental regulatory guidance and Best Available Techniques (BAT) to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, best practice and BAT standards. This could include undertaking licence compliance studies, liability risk assessments and BAT studies.
+ Assist clients in developing and implementing mitigation measures, management plans, and management systems. Managing and completing EHS audits including legal and operational compliance.
+ Support the preparation and submission of environmental permit/licence applications particularly in the Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical sector.
+ Help ensure ongoing compliance with permit/licence conditions and knowledge of ISO 14001 standards
**Regulator and Stakeholder Engagement**
+ Facilitate engagement with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
+ Assist clients in fulfilling permit/licence obligations, including reporting requirements and addressing pre-operational or improvement conditions. Examples include licence applications, licence variations and licence surrender.
**Business Development**
+ Contribute to business development efforts by building and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients.
+ Help expand AECOM's compliance and permitting service offerings.
**Quality and Technical Assurance**
+ Conduct quality assurance and technical reviews of work completed by team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
**Mentorship and Professional Development**
+ Mentor and support the growth of junior team members and emerging professionals in the field of permitting and compliance.

**Education and Qualifications**
A base first degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering or science discipline.
**Professional Experience**
Demonstrable experience in a consultancy role.
Proven track record in delivering environmental compliance and permitting services, particularly in the Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical sector.
Significant experience with Industrial Emissions / Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) licensing.
Demonstrable experience managing consultancy support across a range of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) compliance areas, including industrial emissions licensing and permitting, and pharmaceutical sector.
**Legislative Knowledge**
Extensive working knowledge of relevant UK and European environmental legislation related to EHS compliance consulting.
**Technical Skills**
Excellent report writing and technical review capabilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
**Teamwork and Work Ethic**
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple projects, including those with tight deadlines.
A proactive, positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills.

Building a sustainable tomorrow We are seeking highly skilled Environmental Sustainability Managers to join our team and help us to deliver a sustainable tomorrow. As an Environmental Sustainability Manager you will report to a Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager (SESM). Your key driver is to accelerate BAM's transition to a more sustainable business. You will coordinate regional activities and implement our sustainability strategy. Your expertise will drive internal continuous improvement. You will support project teams, work winning, upskilling and BAM's progress towards its sustainability targets whilst you oversee the execution of environmental compliance to ISO14001. You will be the go-to resource for specialist environmental sustainability advice when needed and may have a matrix relationship within the operational business. Please note nationwide travel will be involved in this role. Your mission Demonstrate a proven track record of delivering environmental improvements within the sector and across associated trades. Possess advanced knowledge of ISO14001 compliance and assurance, along with key environmental aspects. Lead management reviews, and ensure associated procedures and plans are continually improved. Have a good working knowledge of key strategy aspects (decarbonisation, circular economy, climate adaptation, and biodiversity) applicable to your role. Adhere to industry standards, company procedures, and legal requirements. Communicate identified opportunities and threats to team and relevant projects. Understand sector-specific reporting standards and key performance indicators. A good knowledge and preferably experience of environmental certification/assessment tools (e.g., BREEAM, LEED, WELL, NABERs). Translate complex technical information into clear direction for operational teams. Conduct awareness and training sessions across the value chain. Promote awareness and support delivery of decarbonization, circular economy, climate adaptation, and biodiversity. Attend key operational meetings as required by the SESM. Undertake regular data reviews to identify trends and improvement opportunities both at site and regional level. Understand data governance and analytics and how this can deliver meaningful KPIs. Monitor productivity and deadlines and ensure tasks add value. Collaborate with the ES team as required to define a cohesive way forward as BAM UK&I Possess an awareness and understanding of the interdependencies Environmental sustainability with other key themes and functions. Hold full membership and/or chartership with a relevant professional institution. Who are we looking for? The ideal candidate will have a good depth and breadth of relevant experience and be willing to travel nationwide as part of their role. Your expertise will drive our internal continual improvement, support work winning and oversee and execute compliance to ISO14001. Minimum Level 8 Degree in Environmental or similar related discipline. Proven track record of supporting environmental and sustainability performance on projects. Ability to travel nationwide. Detailed knowledge of national and EU Environmental legislation and policy. Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems. Excellent communication skills. What's in it for you? Opportunities! Our Client, a leading medical device Company based in Limerick are seeking an Environmental, Sustainability, Health and Safety Officer.  This role is pivotal in ensuring that the operations adhere to the highest standards of environmental sustainability, health, and safety. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, implementing sustainability initiatives, and fostering a safe working environment.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Environmental & Sustainability Compliance:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all environmental & Health & Safety Regulations

  • Develop and implement programs to minimize environmental impact, including waste reduction & pollution prevention.

  • Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other sustainable practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote sustainability initiatives and engage employees in environmental stewardship.

Health & Safety:

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate workplace hazards.

  • Provide training to employees on health and safety practices and procedures.

  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay up-to-date on changes to environmental, sustainability, and health and safety regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies' requirements.

  • Maintain records and documentation related to environmental permits, safety inspections, and training.



  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in environmental, sustainability, and health and safety roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data and metrics related to ES&HS performance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with ISO 14001 management systems is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and implement sustainable practices within an organisation.
