You will play a fundamental role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products: you will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting validation activities at sub-component and system design and integration levels. This includes designing and executing systems design, requirements analysis, test plans, and preparing validation and verification procedures. You will also work closely with the product teams (Embedded Software, Electronics, Mechatronics, Photonics, Optics and Assembly-Integration-Test) and project managers to ensure that systems are appropriately specified and meet all relevant specifications and requirements. Our products and projects are for both space and terrestrial applications, requiring a high level of quality assurance and planning.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our rapidly growing organization. This is a highly technical role providing excellent career development opportunities for the successful candidate. You will be working with other Systems Engineers and Sr. Systems Engineers in a very collaborative environment which allows for very quick technical growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform IT Support services to users onsite
  • Use of a ticketing system to manage support queries

Requirements

  • 2 years of IT Experience (Desktop Support, Systems Engineering, Systems Administration)
  • End User Support / Desktop Support: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, desktop, and mobile device troubleshooting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Support of primarily Microsoft 365 stack (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Intune, Azure AD)
  • Systems Administration: Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Platforms as well as Active Directory, Group Policy, good if you are familiar with Citrix XenApp
  • Support of Sophos or similar products for endpoint threat management
  • Basic understanding of virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Understanding of networking: TCP/IP, LAN / DMZ / WAN, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Switching, and Firewalls
  • Experience working in an MSP environment
  • The candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job, which include but are not limited to, the following; must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs; stand/sit for extended periods of time; push/pull; climb stairs; stoop, kneel or crouch; use fingers/hands to handle or feel; reach above head or below knee level; and the ability to work around machinery and material handling equipment.

Desirable Qualities

  • Financial industry experience including familiarity with market vendor applications: Bloomberg, Thompson Reuters, FactSet, CapIQ
  • Significant experience in an MSP environment, particularly utilizing the ConnectWise suite of products
  • Exposure to/ability to support workloads in Azure or AWS
  • Experience with vendors such as Google Workspace, Box, Dropbox, Duo, Okta, AirWatch
  • Experience with and ability to support Citrix XenApp or similar products
  • Experience with cybersecurity solutions such as Carbon Black, Cylance, Crowdstrike, Cyberhat
  • Experience with Mimecast or other mail security gateway solutions such as IronPort or Proofpoint
  • More than a basic understanding of Storage and Virtualization platforms such as Nimble, Pure Storage, NetApp, EMC, VMware, Hyper-V, XenServer

Description

As a Systems Engineer on the Cloud Storage team, you will be at the heart of developing, debugging, and maintaining the disaggregated storage software that underpins critical cloud platforms at Apple. You will: Tackle complex challenges in distributed systems to deliver reliable, scalable, and performant storage solutions. Collaborate closely with teams within ASE and across Apple to understand requirements and integrate solutions. Design, implement, test, and debug software components for our storage systems. Write high-quality, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews. Develop and review detailed design documentation for new features and system architectures. Participate in the qualification, deployment, and monitoring of software across large-scale production clusters. Benchmark, analyze, and optimize system performance, scalability, and resiliency. Uphold the high standard of quality and reliability expected of Apple products and infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong systems programming skills and a deep understanding of operating system fundamentals (memory management, concurrency, I/O, networking).
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience, plus experience in system software development, OR an MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Solid grasp of concurrency, parallelism, and distributed systems concepts (e.g., consensus, consistency models, failure modes).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions clearly within the team and to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with distributed storage solutions (e.g., Ceph, ScaleIO, GlusterFS, HDFS) is highly desirable.
  • Experience developing and managing applications on Kubernetes; experience writing CSI plugins is a plus.
  • Familiarity with using or contributing to cloud infrastructure technologies (e.g., AWS S3/EBS, GCP Cloud Storage/Persistent Disk, OpenStack Swift/Cinder).
  • Proficiency in Go (Golang) applied to systems-level development.
  • Experience building software solutions in other relevant languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, or Swift.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    A genuine enthusiasm for building high-quality, robust systems.
