Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Income Tax Professional to join our Dundalk team on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Tax Compliance and will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and filing income tax returns, CGT tax returns, and inheritance tax returns for individuals, sole traders and partnerships.

In addition, this role will involve coaching junior members of the tax team and supporting the wider firm on Income Tax queries as they occur. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations, while also identifying opportunities for tax savings and providing strategic advice to clients on best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file income tax returns, capital gains tax returns and inheritance tax returns for individuals, sole traders and partnerships.

  • Advise on income tax optimisation strategies, including pensions, tax credits, deductions, and any other opportunities to reduce client's tax liabilities.

  • Assist in the management of billings and fee collection for allocated clients.

  • Present in-house tax training and assist with client presentations as required.

  • Attend and lead client income tax meetings;

  • Ensure compliance in line with local tax laws and regulations.

  • Work closely with the Audit and Accounts teams across both offices to provide guidance where required
  • Assist with tax planning and projections throughout the year.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Provide income tax advice to high-net-worth individuals and families;

  • Liaising with other service providers such as solicitors and banks; and
    Liaising with Irish Revenue with regard to client income affairs and Revenue audits and queries.

About You

  • Fully qualified Chartered Tax Advisor/ Tax Technician
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Irish tax legislation;
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Confidence in dealing with people and strong client-facing skills;
  • Self-starter with the ability to use initiative and to prioritise with excellent time management skills;
    Strong attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of complex corporate tax compliance and advisory projects for financial services clients, including banks, insurers, and asset managers, ensuring technical accuracy and commercial relevance.
  • Manage tax implications of cross-border transactions, including structuring, due diligence, and post-acquisition integration, with a focus on BEPS Pillar 2 and international tax reform.
  • Interpret and apply Irish and international tax legislation to client scenarios, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, and VAT, ensuring compliance and identifying planning opportunities.
  • Oversee preparation and review of corporate tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate submissions, and liaising with tax authorities on audits and inquiries.
  • Develop and implement tax risk management strategies, including governance frameworks and documentation protocols for financial services entities.
  • Advise on tax technology and automation solutions, including analytics tools and robotics, to streamline compliance and reporting processes.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, providing technical training, performance feedback, and career development support across multiple locations (Dublin, Cork, Galway).

Skills and attributes for success

  • A self-motivated and ambitious individual, with a determination to develop their career and grow a business in fast paced and ever changing environment.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Professional qualification in ACA (or equivalent), law and/or Tax; or
  • AITI qualified or equivalent qualification in a Commonwealth country (such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, UK).
  • 2-3 years relevant post qualification tax experience.
  • Experience working in industry or practice as a tax professional
  • Strong technical skills and be keen to develop further.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Financial Services experience or a genuine interest in the financial services sector.
  • Big 4 Tax experience.

About The Role
As a Manager you will be responsible for day to day team supervision and assisting with project leadership. This entails a variety of challenging activities:

Our Banking and Capital markets clients cover the spectrum of domestic and global institutions, to include the new tech focused banking sector, an area in which there has been significant recent growth. You will work with our clients to formulate effective strategies for optimising taxes, to implement efficient structures and to manage compliance obligations. 

As a Manager in FS Tax, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve complex tax and broader business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing your own challenging, evolving and varied client portfolio, including managing existing client engagements, winning and developing work, and participating in a variety of consultancy and tax planning projects,
  • Discussing potential innovative projects with our clients linked to economic, business and technical reality in order to help them to grow in the market.
  • Keeping abreast of OECD and EU Tax developments.
  • Building your professional network and managing client relationships in order to find business opportunities with innovative companies.
  • Playing an active role in training and coaching our junior staff members, promoting a learning culture.
  • Bringing business knowledge, innovation and insight to create value for clients and the firm.

About you – Key skills and competencies:

  • At least 5+ years experience in Tax consulting.
  • AITI/CTA Qualified with a strong academic record.
