+ Drive behind the delivery of technical excellence, team engagement, and the go-to in developing their key clients in this discipline.
+ Be the expert to our clients and that all important first point of call.
+ Lead discussion with design team, building control and fire service.

+ Supervise and train graduate engineers.
**Requirements and Qualifications**
To set you up for success in this role from day one (at a minimum) the following qualifications/experience are required:
+ A background in fire engineering preferably within a consultancy environment
+ A bachelor's degree or higher within Fire engineering
+ Ideally working towards becoming a Chartered engineer
+ The right to work in Ireland
+ The ability to undertake works independently
+ The ability and desire to mentor and manage our young professionals

Join our dynamic Nature team as Technical Director in our UK and Ireland offices, including Manchester, Leeds, Basingstoke, Birmingham,Newcastle, Glasgow, Cambridge, Dublin, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Bristol and Liverpool offices (other locations across the UK may be considered). We operate a hybrid working model so you can be in the office or work from home to suit you and the requirements of the job.
Our Nature team are working on a mix of large infrastructure projects in the energy, water, renewables, defence and transport sectors, alongside managing smaller local projects. The vast majority of our projects are based in the UK and Ireland.
We are looking for a technical leader, someone that can help us shape and drive the ecology team within UK&I. We will call upon your in-depth expertise on ecological assessments and project management to ensure that projects are delivered on time, to budget, and to the high standard expected by AECOM, our clients, and the ecology profession. You will be a member of the wider ecology leadership team in UK&I and will have a say in shaping the direction and future of our team and our work. You will be client facing as well as a coach and mentor to our team. Your work will be a balance between work winning, project management, and delivery.
In this role, depending on your interests and skillset, you will have opportunities to support on a variety of areas such as: using innovative survey techniques for species and habitats surveys, data capture and reporting; work winning; management of projects, Habitats Regulations Assessments; and leadership and coaching opportunities. + Lead the planning and delivery of ecological inputs for both internal and external clients;
+ Produce and technically review a range of ecological assessments including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal; Protected Species Baseline Reports; Ecological Impact Assessments; Habitats Regulations Assessment; and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations;
+ Provide technical leadership to support the delivery of proportionate and pragmatic solutions;
+ Project manage the ecology input into large schemes;
+ Lead consultation and engagement with clients and key project stakeholders including planning authorities, statutory bodies and the public;
+ Play a key role in the continued development of our technical capabilities and encourage the embedding of innovation/research;
+ Lead the production of bids and tenders for ecological services;

**Qualifications**
**_Here's what we're looking for:_**
+ Degree (or equivalent) in ecology or an associated subject;
+ Membership of an appropriate professional institution and working towards or obtained Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist status;
+ Excellent knowledge of relevant biodiversity legislation and policy, and reporting skills;
+ Experience of leading and managing biodiversity assessments (major planning applications and DCO submissions) as demonstrated by suitable professional experience;
+ Experience in managing projects, project budgets and leading stakeholder discussions, and bidding/tendering
+ Experience of reviewing/verifying technical work and supporting wider team members.

WSP has a new opportunity for a Principal to Technical Director Level Groundwater Modeller to join our UK & Ireland Mine Water Team on a full-time basis based in the UK or Ireland.
This position would be involved in technical leadership and delivery of mining hydrogeology projects internationally, supported by a multidisciplinary team of hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geochemists and engineers. We work on projects at all parts of the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure.
**Key duties and responsibilities of the Job include:**
+ Deliver consulting services in the areas of groundwater modelling, hydrogeology, mine dewatering and depressurization, mine water management, environmental social impact assessments and risk assessments, and water supply work.
+ Development and review of numerical and analytical groundwater models using state of the art modelling software.
+ Project coordination, managing and participating actively in the development of budgets, schedules and plans for projects and proposals.
+ Collation, analysis and quality management of hydrogeological, hydrological and geotechnical data.
+ Supporting the development and maintenance of client relationships, either through project-based client interaction or through supporting business development efforts of other senior staff.
+ Mentor junior and intermediate staff within the Mine Water team to support their career development, technical excellence and commercial awareness.

+ Advanced use of GIS and coding (e.g. Python).

+ Display initiative and engage decision making skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP's Mining and Metals business in the UK&I. This position would be involved in the delivery of mine waste projects domestically and internationally, supported by a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists. Members of the mining team come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring different experiences to the group. This diversity is seen as a strength of the team and valued within our business. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will go through an integration period that will enable them to familiarise themselves with the members of the team in the UK, Ireland, and further afield, as well as provide the team with an opportunity to learn more about them.
This is a leadership role with the UK and Ireland Mine Waste team (and globally), and the role will comprise a combination of technical leadership, project direction, business development, and client liaison. Your main responsibilities will include:
+ Deliver consulting services for mine waste projects, which may include the design and inspection of mine waste storage facilities, the construction of tailings deposits, stability and seepage analysis and closure design
+ Work as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientistsand modellers from conceptual design through to detail design and engineering
+ Provide specialised technical input focused on tailings management facilities, water impoundments, waste rock dump design, soil mechanics, soil improvement methods, geosynthetic materials engineering and related civil engineering work for projects worldwide
+ Lead and input into the design and assessment of mine waste facilities, including tailings facilities, water storage facilities, waste rock dumps and integrated waste facilities, from concept design stage, through detailed design stage and into the operational and closure phases of a project
+ Assist project managers in the successful delivery of projects by managing own involvement in projects, including time, budgetand quality control
+ Leading, mentoring, and working with a team of scientists, engineers, and other professionals within the Mine Waste team to support their career development, technical excellence, and commercial awareness.
+ Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities, and cost estimates
+ Provide technical direction and supervise junior and intermediate staff
+ Provide input to team strategy development
+ Participating in global corporate technical practice groups with the goal of elevating our technical excellence and visibility in the eyes of our clients.
+ Exciting opportunities to travel within Ireland and internationally to assist clients in solving engineering problems and support construction of WSP designs. Travel outside of Ireland will require overnight stays, and likely duration will depend on the nature of the project/client needs and project location
+ Develop and maintain good relationships with new and existing clients and be able to effectively represent WSP on site
+ Prepare proposals and technical reports
+ Act in the spirit of WSP's values and do not misinterpret their meaning. Adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct at all times and raise concerns as appropriate. Regularly familiarise self with the Code of Conduct and how it is applicable to own role/position within the organisation

**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:**
+ Demonstrated experience of technical leadership, collaboration, and delivery.
+ Substantial and broad experience in mine waste and tailings.
+ Commitment to internal and external client service
+ A proven track record in the delivery of large, multi-disciplinary projects on-time and on-budget
+ Excellent interpersonal skills with verbal and written communication skills with respect to technical, business development and strategy.
+ Degree qualified within civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology, with a strong emphasis on and proven ability in soil mechanics
+ Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations
+ Mining and geotechnical experience relating to mine waste disposal/facilities
+ The ability to interpret and monitor results and use a variety of tools to monitor and design geotechnical structures and assist clients with operational requirements
+ Ability to manage and work effectively within a team environment
+ Chartered professional with relevant body.
+ Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally, and on occasion to remote environments.
