Join our dynamic Nature team as Technical Director in our UK and Ireland offices, including Manchester, Leeds, Basingstoke, Birmingham,Newcastle, Glasgow, Cambridge, Dublin, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Bristol and Liverpool offices (other locations across the UK may be considered). We operate a hybrid working model so you can be in the office or work from home to suit you and the requirements of the job.
Our Nature team are working on a mix of large infrastructure projects in the energy, water, renewables, defence and transport sectors, alongside managing smaller local projects. The vast majority of our projects are based in the UK and Ireland.
We are looking for a technical leader, someone that can help us shape and drive the ecology team within UK&I. We will call upon your in-depth expertise on ecological assessments and project management to ensure that projects are delivered on time, to budget, and to the high standard expected by AECOM, our clients, and the ecology profession. You will be a member of the wider ecology leadership team in UK&I and will have a say in shaping the direction and future of our team and our work. You will be client facing as well as a coach and mentor to our team. Your work will be a balance between work winning, project management, and delivery.
In this role, depending on your interests and skillset, you will have opportunities to support on a variety of areas such as: using innovative survey techniques for species and habitats surveys, data capture and reporting; work winning; management of projects, Habitats Regulations Assessments; and leadership and coaching opportunities. + Lead the planning and delivery of ecological inputs for both internal and external clients;
+ Produce and technically review a range of ecological assessments including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal; Protected Species Baseline Reports; Ecological Impact Assessments; Habitats Regulations Assessment; and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations;
+ Provide technical leadership to support the delivery of proportionate and pragmatic solutions;
+ Project manage the ecology input into large schemes;
+ Lead consultation and engagement with clients and key project stakeholders including planning authorities, statutory bodies and the public;
+ Play a key role in the continued development of our technical capabilities and encourage the embedding of innovation/research;
+ Lead the production of bids and tenders for ecological services;
+ Mentor and support both junior staff and peers.

**Qualifications**
**_Here's what we're looking for:_**
+ Degree (or equivalent) in ecology or an associated subject;
+ Membership of an appropriate professional institution and working towards or obtained Chartered Ecologist or Chartered Environmentalist status;
+ Excellent knowledge of relevant biodiversity legislation and policy, and reporting skills;
+ Experience of leading and managing biodiversity assessments (major planning applications and DCO submissions) as demonstrated by suitable professional experience;
+ Experience in managing projects, project budgets and leading stakeholder discussions, and bidding/tendering
+ Experience of reviewing/verifying technical work and supporting wider team members.

This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP's Mining & Metals business in the UK & Ireland.
WSP has a new opportunity for a Principal to Technical Director Level Groundwater Modeller to join our UK & Ireland Mine Water Team on a full-time basis based in the UK or Ireland.
This position would be involved in technical leadership and delivery of mining hydrogeology projects internationally, supported by a multidisciplinary team of hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geochemists and engineers. We work on projects at all parts of the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure.
**Key duties and responsibilities of the Job include:**
+ Deliver consulting services in the areas of groundwater modelling, hydrogeology, mine dewatering and depressurization, mine water management, environmental social impact assessments and risk assessments, and water supply work.
+ Development and review of numerical and analytical groundwater models using state of the art modelling software.
+ Project coordination, managing and participating actively in the development of budgets, schedules and plans for projects and proposals.
+ Collation, analysis and quality management of hydrogeological, hydrological and geotechnical data.
+ Supporting the development and maintenance of client relationships, either through project-based client interaction or through supporting business development efforts of other senior staff.
+ Mentor junior and intermediate staff within the Mine Water team to support their career development, technical excellence and commercial awareness.
+ Working in a collaborative manner with colleagues from other disciplines within WSP Mining as required.

+ Advanced use of GIS and coding (e.g. Python).
+ Use of geological modelling packages such as Leapfrog.
+ Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
+ Previous experience of field work (e.g. groundwater monitoring, drill rig supervision, aquifer testing etc).
+ Display initiative and engage decision making skills.
+ Good organisational abilities and time management skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP's Mining and Metals business in the UK&I. This position would be involved in the delivery of mine waste projects domestically and internationally, supported by a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists. Members of the mining team come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring different experiences to the group. This diversity is seen as a strength of the team and valued within our business. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will go through an integration period that will enable them to familiarise themselves with the members of the team in the UK, Ireland, and further afield, as well as provide the team with an opportunity to learn more about them.
This is a leadership role with the UK and Ireland Mine Waste team (and globally), and the role will comprise a combination of technical leadership, project direction, business development, and client liaison. Your main responsibilities will include:
+ Deliver consulting services for mine waste projects, which may include the design and inspection of mine waste storage facilities, the construction of tailings deposits, stability and seepage analysis and closure design
+ Work as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientistsand modellers from conceptual design through to detail design and engineering

**A little more about your role:**
This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP's Mining and Metals business in the UK&I. This position would be involved in the delivery of mine waste projects domestically and internationally, supported by a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists. Members of the mining team come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring different experiences to the group. This diversity is seen as a strength of the team and valued within our business. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will go through an integration period that will enable them to familiarise themselves with the members of the team in the UK, Ireland, and further afield, as well as provide the team with an opportunity to learn more about them.
This is a leadership role with the UK and Ireland Mine Waste team (and globally), and the role will comprise a combination of technical leadership, project direction, business development, and client liaison. Your main responsibilities will include:
+ Deliver consulting services for mine waste projects, which may include the design and inspection of mine waste storage facilities, the construction of tailings deposits, stability and seepage analysis and closure design
+ Work as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientistsand modellers from conceptual design through to detail design and engineering

You will work with the Director of Engineering, the other Discipline Technical Directors and other Heads of Services to determine how we efficiently and consistently deliver design services across the Group. This is a group wide role, covering all 20 design offices. You will contribute significantly to the companies improved performance, to the delivery of safe assets to our customers and to the creation of a work environment that is conducive to enabling a safe, healthy and motivated workforce. This is a senior appointment, reporting to the Director of Engineering, with responsibility for leadership, governance, troubleshooting and for defining the ways of working in Electrical Engineering Design. We offer a flexible working environment, providing a hybrid working arrangement with the option to work from home up to two days a week for this role. Interested applicants should submit their CV Responsibilities 1.1 PM Group Strategy for Electrcial Engieering As the Technical Director you will lead the development of the discipline in support of PM Group's strategy and local Business Unit plans. Key aspects include; 1. Develop a strategy for Electrical Engineering across the Group i.e. to forecast and plan the required capability and capacity. 2. Support the Business Units with strengthening and growing their departments i.e. department profiling, team competency gaps and associated training needs etc. 3. Develop targeted SME areas within Electrcial Engineering e.g. sustainability. 4. Work with Architecture and the Engineering Disciplines to align and develop cross functional competencies targeted at key sectors and technologies. 5. Define, for our core sectors, the range of design activities and deliverables required to deliver the projects safely and efficiently. 1.2 Digitalisation of Business Processes / ways of working 1. Define and implement a strategy for continuous improvement of Electrical Engineering 2. Develop and improve the Electrical Engineering Service Delivery Platform (SDP) as part of our Quality management System (QMS). 3. Create a Group wide standardized way of working for Electrical Engineering taking into account the specific requirements in local code and industry norms 4. Ensure the integration of key considerations such as digitally enabled lean design DeLPD, sector specific approaches and our design office locations. 5. Business transformation projects are an investment cost (i.e. unsold) and their own time is managed by the Technical Director. 1.3 Governance of Design Delivery 1. Support / input to key Sales Proposals as requested by the Director of Engineering. 2. Work with the Director of Engineering to establish a 'watch list' of key projects based on the extent of design challenge and technical integrity risk. 3. Influence the early stages of design on key projects. 4. Chair Single Discipline Design Reviews (SDDRs) on key projects. 5. Review Project Basis of Safety documents as required by the Director of Engineering. 6. Input to end of Concept / BoD 'go, no go' reviews for high risk challenging projects. 1.4 Troubleshooting 1. Be a 'first responder' for critical issues regarding Electrcial Engineering design across the Group. 2. Meet with senior members of both our own and the customer's team. 3. Agree corrective actions / way forward. 4. Act as Technical Sponsor for the corrective actions. 5. Keep PM Group management updated on correction action progress.
