This is an exciting opportunity to work with adults aged 1865 years in a sensory-focused setting, providing assessment and intervention for clients with a range of complex needs.
You will manage a varied caseload that may include individuals who are: Non-verbal and/or have communication difficulties Living with physical and intellectual disabilities Recovering from acquired brain injuries Living with spinal injuries This is a collaborative role, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to support clients in maximising independence, participation, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist: Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention for adults with complex needs.
Deliver evidence-based, client-centred interventions in sensory, functional, and rehabilitation contexts.
Support clients to develop independence in daily living skills, communication, and community participation.
Work collaboratively with families, carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Contribute to service development and promote best practice in sensory-focused occupational therapy.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service audits and reporting.
Provide clinical supervision and support to students or junior colleagues where appropriate.
Essential Requirements for the Occupational Therapist: BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU).
CORU registration Minimum of 1-year post-qualification experience (staff grade) or 3+ years (senior grade).
Experience working with adults with physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities.
Access to own vehicle and full licence.

Qualifications & Requirements of Speech and Language Therapist A recognized qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (BSc/MSc).
Registration with the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) and CORU.
Minimum of 2 years' post-graduate experience in a similar setting, ideally within an acute hospital environment.
Proven experience working with patients with complex medical conditions, including dysphagia and neurological disorders.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The primary aim of the OPAL team is to optimise the quality of care and patient experience of older adult cohort living with frailty who present to the ED.
The team aims to identify frail older persons presenting to the ED, provide a comprehensive older adult assessment and make recommendations to support the patient in accessing the most appropriate frailty pathway".
Responsibilites of Senior Occupational Therapist Acute Elderly To identify and assess the frail population presenting to ED as part of the OPAL Team.
To be highly competent in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of clinical presentations relevant to a frail ED population, considering both the acuity and existing frailty syndromes.
To act as a senior decision-maker, with recommendations regarding intervention requirements & need for hospital admission, where appropriate.
To utilise advanced skills and experience in the clinical field to provide a case consultation service to staff within the ED, the OPAL team and the Occupational Therapy team.
To practice within the team ethos of providing an evidence based and person centred service, with emphasis on valuing the beliefs and needs of the patient during the decision making process.
Be responsible for the maintenance of standards of practice of self and staff appointed to clinical / designated area(s).
Be responsible for managing own caseload and for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes for service users according to service standards.
Participate in the integrated discharge planning process in line with the HSE Code of Practice and the Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons.
To build excellent working relationships with community colleagues, working together to promote and enhance appropriate discharge pathways.
To ensure effective and timely communication with patients and families /carers as part of the occupational therapy process.

This is a 35-hour week spread across Monday Friday for a long term contract.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the assessment and management of swallowing and communication difficulties in paediatric inpatients.
Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
Provide clinical supervision and support to junior SLTs and students as appropriate.

Requirements: CORU registration is essential.
