The Data Center Global Services team is looking for a Controls Engineer for Construction (BMS/EPMS), responsible for the building automation systems within Amazon data centers to join our EMEA team. Our Control Engineers technical background across project/construction management, mechanical, electrical or technology background enable them to undertake the challenges of sophisticated controls platforms to strategically align building controls and automation with the larger objectives of the business. They work individually and as part of a team to develop new products, support existing products, test and evaluate equipment.
Controls Engineers in AWS deploys , maintains BMS(Building Management System) & EPMS(Electrical Power Monitoring System) across our leased/colocation data centers.
They co-ordinate with AWS DCEO( Data Center Engineering Operations) teams to implement new builds, upgrades etc and ensures high availability and high resiliency of these control systems.
Key job responsibilities
Your role responsibilities:
Ascertain customer needs to help develop project scope and specifications.
Manage scopes of work relative to the site specifics and customer needs.
Manage project engineering to determine the scope of work relative to the design intent of the customer needs.
Read and interpret specifications and implement those specifications as they apply the work environment.
Develop control panel BOM's
Develop ISA data sheets for temperature, level, flow, and pressure transmitters along with ISA data sheets for control valves, positioners, analytical, and various other types of instrumentation.
Develop drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes. Included in the drawings are the general arrangement, internal layout, schematics and interconnection and wire diagrams.
Develop logic diagrams in the International Automation format for complex logic devices such as Programmable Logical Controller and Distributed Control System.
Prepare cable, routing plans and schedules.
Perform inspections, testing, and commission of the facility systems.
Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.
Coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
Travel domestically and internationally to support other regions
A day in the life
Controls Engineer's day may begin with deployment efforts including on-site site management works , directing Controls vendors for installation / commissioing works and is responsible for quality and on time delivery of the tasks / project. While managing service works, CE will co-ordinate with Operations teams for permits and engages Vendor or performs services confirming to the task lists.

Basic Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC, or other related engineering degrees
- Minimum Three (3) years in BMS or EPMS Controls related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have an understanding of: electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, industrial HVAC.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams, preferably in a Controls, Mechanical or electrical construction environment
- Experience as a Controls Engineering Specialist
- Minimum 3 years of field service experience preferably with the following products: Siemens: Apogee Honeywell: Building Controls/Trend Schneider Electric: PowerLogic/Struxureware Power User Level Windows Skill Set. Project management, organization and problem solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple task
- Masters in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC, or other related engineering degrees Certificates including (Project Management qualification (PMP, IPMA,IPMC), Lean or Six Sigma, Trend / IQ Vision Certified, Niagra N4 Certified, Schneider certified Engineer, Distech certified Engineer)

Within this role you will be responsible for providing engineering support, troubleshooting, subject matter expertise to the Facilities Operations, Utilities and HVAC teams. You will be designing, specifying and commissioning new and renovated biopharmaceutical utilities and HVAC equipment, managing small to mid sizes projects relating to utilities and HVAC equipment & services. As a Facilities Engineer, a typical day might include, but is not limited to, the following: Designing and specifying cGMP clean/grey utilities, & HVAC equipment, piping, ducting and/or controls Managing small-to-mid sized projects related to utilities and HVAC equipment and services Conducting troubleshooting for complex issues with plant equipment issues and associated systems, identifying and recommending corrective actions Assisting in the design review, site acceptance and installation of equipment Supporting the QA validation department by preparing design documents and assisting in protocol execution Assisting in investigations of utility systems, and control system anomalies as well as safety incidents Implementing corrective/preventative actions for existing equipment and maintenance processes Preparing engineering evaluations and test plans for and executing modification change control documentation Interpreting P&IDs, equipment/system layouts, wiring diagrams and specifications in planning and performing maintenance and repairs Supervising mechanical, electrical, and automation contractors Maintaining a clean and safe working environment by enforcing procedures, policies, and regulations Maintaining company reputation by enforcing compliance with all relevant laws, policies and regulations This role might be for you if: You possess logical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills You have good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact cross functionally You have strong analytical and organisational skills To be considered for this opportunity you must hold a level 8 within an engineering discipline or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in engineering preferred.
