What You'll Be Doing

As an HVAC Technician, you'll be responsible for:

Performing on-site pre-commission cleaning and flushing of closed-loop systems

Conducting air and water balancing to optimize HVAC performance

Using instruments to measure and record flow, pressure, and temperature data

Interpreting schematics, drawings, and technical specifications

Ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements

Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other technicians on-site

Maintaining detailed project documentation and service reports

The ideal candidate will have:

2+ years' experience in HVAC systems, water treatment, or mechanical services

Strong technical knowledge of commissioning practices, water chemistry, and system diagnostics

Familiarity with balancing equipment and instrumentation

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

A full, clean driving license (required)

Safe Pass and Manual Handling certificates (or willingness to obtain)

Wastewater Plant Process Technician

  • A process background (especially in drinking water treatment) is preferred and some mechanical/electrical experience (especially in SCADA related programmes and instrumentation) would be beneficial.

  • Routine operational duties and regular maintenance tasks are a basic function of this role.

  • Treatment process is fully automated and has a comprehensive control system. Proficiency in computers important.

Skills / Attributes;

About Our Client

About the Role

They are now seeking a skilled and experienced 
Senior
 
Pre-Commissioning Water Treatment / Flushing Engineer
 to carry out the pre-commission cleaning, chemical dosing, flushing, and treatment of closed and open loop systems (including CHW, LTHW, condenser, and domestic water). This role is nationwide and critical to ensuring systems are delivered to specification, compliant with 
BSRIA BG29/BG50
, and fully prepared for commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-commission cleaning, dynamic and static flushing, chemical dosing, and sampling of HVAC and water systems in accordance with BSRIA and project specifications.
  • Carry out closed and open loop water system flushing (CHW, LTHW, condenser, domestic hot & cold water).
  • Conduct water quality testing, interpret results, and make treatment adjustments as needed.
  • Complete on-site testing (pH, conductivity, iron, hardness, bacteria sampling Legionella, TVC, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate documentation including flushing certificates, test results, and compliance records.
  • Coordinate with mechanical and commissioning teams to ensure timely delivery of pre-commissioning works.
  • Operate pumps, dosing rigs, side stream filters, and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all works comply with HSE regulations and COSHH guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve water quality or system performance issues.
  • Attend client/site meetings and provide technical input as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in water treatment, pre-commission cleaning, or mechanical flushing.
  • Strong working knowledge of 
    BSRIA BG29 & BG50
     guidelines.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, pipework layouts, strainers, valves, and test points.
  • Experience handling treatment chemicals including inhibitors, biocides, and cleaning agents.
  • Ability to use and calibrate basic water testing equipment.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Full, clean driving licence
     and willingness to travel.
  • Safe Pass
     card required; additional site certs (e.g. confined space, MEWP) are a plus.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience on large-scale projects (data centre, commercial, life sciences, industrial, or healthcare).
  • Knowledge of closed loop, domestic systems, cooling towers, or cleanroom water treatment.
  • Legionella awareness training or water hygiene qualification.

About Our Client

Our client is a trusted provider of commissioning and building services solutions, delivering specialist water treatment and flushing services to projects across data centres, pharmaceuticals, commercial, and healthcare sectors. About the Role

They are now seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Pre-Commissioning Water Treatment / Flushing Engineer to carry out the pre-commission cleaning, chemical dosing, flushing, and treatment of closed and open loop systems (including CHW, LTHW, condenser, and domestic water). This role is nationwide and critical to ensuring systems are delivered to specification, compliant with BSRIA BG29/BG50, and fully prepared for commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-commission cleaning, dynamic and static flushing, chemical dosing, and sampling of HVAC and water systems in accordance with BSRIA and project specifications.
  • Carry out closed and open loop water system flushing (CHW, LTHW, condenser, domestic hot & cold water).
  • Conduct water quality testing, interpret results, and make treatment adjustments as needed.
  • Complete on-site testing (pH, conductivity, iron, hardness, bacteria sampling Legionella, TVC, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate documentation including flushing certificates, test results, and compliance records.
  • Coordinate with mechanical and commissioning teams to ensure timely delivery of pre-commissioning works.
  • Operate pumps, dosing rigs, side stream filters, and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all works comply with HSE regulations and COSHH guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve water quality or system performance issues.
  • Attend client/site meetings and provide technical input as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in water treatment, pre-commission cleaning, or mechanical flushing.
  • Strong working knowledge of BSRIA BG29 & BG50 guidelines.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, pipework layouts, strainers, valves, and test points.
  • Experience handling treatment chemicals including inhibitors, biocides, and cleaning agents.
  • Ability to use and calibrate basic water testing equipment.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Safe Pass card required; additional site certs (e.g. confined space, MEWP) are a plus.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience on large-scale projects (data centre, commercial, life sciences, industrial, or healthcare).
  • Knowledge of closed loop, domestic systems, cooling towers, or cleanroom water treatment.
  • Legionella awareness training or water hygiene qualification.
  • Understanding of commissioning timelines and coordination with mechanical packages.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior technicians or subcontractors.

Market Information / Intelligence:

  • Research market and customer information and performance in the marketplace.
  • Update and maintain information on the in-house customer database.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years' experience working in a similar role
  • Knowledge of working within Quality Systems.
  • Knowledge of Distribution within the Industrial and Water Treatment Industry.
  • Strong Customer Service skills including use of Customer Relationship Management tool.
  • Proven ability to formulate and implement dynamic sales strategies.
  • Strong ability to build and nurture client relationships and proven track record of customer relationship establishment and development.
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions.
  • Be meticulous in your work with attention to detail.
  • Reliable, hardworking and flexible, team player, fast learner.
  • Excellent communication both verbal and comprehension.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).

+ Undertake numerical analysis including the use of computer-based programmes to assist with the study of potable, surface and wastewater system
+ Undertake technical and feasibility studies to appraise the practicability of alternative solutions in aspects such as potable water, foul water, surface water and attenuation requirements, including appropriate calculations
+ Undertake structural analysis and design such as determination of the design situation and load cases, including calculation and use of analysis software
+ Produce designs of water infrastructure such as pump systems and pipe networks with attenuation to safety in design, such as creating a Designer's Risk Assessment document
+ Produce sketches, check and consolidate final working drawings created by Technicians
+ Keep up-to-date with developments in regulatory legislation and guidelines that may affect design work
+ Working with other team members to undertake technical work, site work, and project management
+ Opportunities for working on site and site visits, to develop wider understanding of how designs are implemented
