A Little Bit More About Your Role

  • Deliver consulting services to internal and external clients in the areas of conceptual model development, hydraulics, engineering design, hydrology, mine water management, stormwater management, water balance assessment, dam break assessment, flood-modelling and flood risk assessment, water quality assessments and water conservation & demand management.
  • Direct and review water resource aspects of a range of international mining and water resource projects, including environmental assessments, environmental permitting, and engineering design projects.
  • Assist with developing projects and services which support climate change reporting, resilience and adaptation, including nature-based solutions.
  • Project coordination, managing and participating actively in the development of budgets, schedules and plans for projects and proposals.
  • Mentor junior staff within the Mine Water team to support their career development, technical excellence and commercial awareness.
  • Project based travel and site work, working both in the UK, Ireland and internationally.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting projects, so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and WSP's standards.

Our UK and Ireland Mine Water team is formed of surface water, groundwater and geochemistry professionals with expertise spanning from recent graduates to individuals with more than 30 years of knowledge. This presents an opportunity to work on projects internationally and learn from experienced colleagues with different areas of technical expertise and to mentor more junior team members. We contribute to all parts of the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure.

This role is predominantly within the mining business, with the potential to also work with other local sectors including infrastructure and land development.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, hydrology or a related field / postgraduate qualification in engineering or environmental management.
  • Previous demonstrable experience conducting hydrologic and hydraulic assessments and design of water management infrastructure.
  • Technical report writing skills and ability to guide / peer review contributions.
  • Experience of project management or coordination and financial tracking skills.

About the Role:

Key Requirements:

Role

  • Assist senior engineers & managers with projects or process improvements

Senior Environmental Engineer – Civil and Environmental Engineering
to join our
Circular Economy and Environment
team, based in our Cork, Dublin, or Carlow offices. This position is a key part of our growing business and involves close collaboration with a team of experienced professionals.

We are looking for candidates with at least 8 years of relevant experience. The successful applicant will become part of an established and reputable company, with opportunities to further develop both technical expertise and managerial capabilities. This role also provides a defined pathway for career progression to the level of Principal Engineer.

What would my main responsibilities be in this role?

  • Overseeing the planning and management of design work and CAD documentation, in close collaboration with Project Engineers and Engineering Technicians
  • Participating in on-site meetings with clients and other professionals
  • Ensuring adherence to the company's Quality Assurance and Management Systems
  • Complying with all relevant health and safety regulations
  • Coordinating activities and deliverables with other members of the project team

Irish Cement Limited is a fully owned subsidiary of CRH plc and has manufactured cement in Ireland for over 85 years. It operates two cement-manufacturing facilities, one situated in Platin, approximately 5km from Drogheda, Co. Louth and a second in Castlemungret, Co. Limerick. Production uses the most advanced, energy-efficient technology to create a range of high-quality cements to the highest Irish and International standards.

Irish Cement Limited is seeking to recruit Graduate Environmental Engineers to join the 3-year Graduate Development Programme. The successful candidates will report to the Works Environmental Manager. The role requires a strong technical background combined with excellent interpersonal skills to interact with internal (various departments at all stages of the production process) and external (EPA, Neighbours, Accreditation bodies) stakeholders. This role starts in our Platin location

Purpose:

The key responsibilities of the position are to provide assistance to the Environmental Manager primarily for the production, but also for the maintenance departments, including but not limited to:

  • IE Licence application, compliance and correspondence
  • Green House Gas (GHG) reporting and monitoring under EU ETS
  • Group (CRH) environmental reporting
  • ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and BES 6001 compliance and internal auditing
  • Environmental engineering and performance monitoring
  • Relevant Health and Safety awareness and contributions

Other Duties are as follows:

  • Assist on any IE licence and GHG related queries
  • Liaising with Production and Maintenance departments
  • Preparation and recording of documentation, correspondence, manuals/processes.
  • Assist with environmental projects and both energy and process improvement assignments
  • Resolve environmental engineering problems and implementation of improvement programs

Candidates should ideally possess:

  • A degree qualification in Environmental Engineering or related discipline, relevant industry experience would be an advantage.
  • Proven track record of excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • A pro-active, self-starter with proven technical skills and business acumen

Ideal Candidates will be aiming for a 1.1 /minimum 2.1 honours degree. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be a distinct advantage.

Graduates will also take part in the CRH management development program, which will guide you through a semi-structured program across the various sections of the business in order to develop technical, interpersonal, commercial and management skills. )
