About the Role
As an international protection accommodation service provider, we offer responsive, inclusive, and high-quality accommodation services that promote the health, safety, dignity, and social integration of international protection seekers. Your primary role as a Child and Youth Support and Advocacy Officer will be to facilitate age-appropriate educational, recreational, and psychosocial services and support, serving as a key point of contact for external child-focused services. As a Child and Youth Support and Advocacy Officer you will advocate for children's rights, create a positive and nurturing environment, and ensure child and youth resident safety, well-being and development.
Key Responsibilities
● Child and Youth Support: Provide direct support to children and youth, including emotional support, listening to concerns, and helping them access necessary services.
● Family Support: Work with families to identify challenges and provide guidance on parenting, child development, and access to services such as healthcare and education.
● Advocate for Children's Rights: Ensure children's rights are upheld in line with national and international child protection standards.
● Safeguarding and Child Protection: Implement and monitor safeguarding and child protection policies within the centre. Conduct regular child risk assessments. Document incidents or concerns related to the safety or well-being of children and report to relevant authorities, such as Tusla.
● Program Development and Coordination: Organize recreational, educational, and cultural activities tailored to the developmental needs and interests of children and youth in the centre.
● Community Engagement: Collaborate with local community services, youth organisations, and healthcare providers to ensure children's access to education, health, and community resources.
● Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting: Keep secure records of each child's needs, development, and any interventions or services provided. Regularly assess the effectiveness of child and youth programs, collecting feedback from residents.

Qualifications and Experience
● Educational Background:
○ QQI Level 6 in social care (or equivalent; early childhood care, health promotion, etc.). Additional training or qualifications in youth support, child safeguarding, children first procedures and social care are an advantage.
● Experience:
○ Prior experience in a similar role within a residential facility or working with children and young people, or with children who have experienced trauma, or organising child-focussed programs or events, or in a social services context is highly desirable.
● Knowledge:
○ Familiarity with International Protection Accommodation Service and the needs of vulnerable populations.
○ Understanding of the policies and procedures of the IPAS National Standards.
○ A strong understanding of children's rights and the ability to advocate for their protection and welfare.
● Technical Skills:
○ Proficiency in basic IT tools (Excel, email systems, Sharepoint).

This is a Monday to Friday - Full-Time role.
The successful candidate will support the Team Leader, Residential Team Leader and Residential and Day Services Manager in the following:
- Ensuring the physical and emotional well-being, as well as the personal hygiene, of people with intellectual disabilities as assigned by the Unit Team Leader.
- Supporting service users and residents in living in the community, choice and control, social and civic participation, personal relationships, education and personal development, etc.
Key Duties
- To accept delegated responsibility for the physical and emotional well-being as well as the personal hygiene of people with intellectual disabilities (children and/or adults) attending the Unit and as assigned by the Unit Team Leader.
- To cooperate with other staff members in creating an environment where service users can continue to develop which would include:
- Cognitive development
- Communication
- Gross and fine motor skills
- Play, P.E., swimming, bowling, sporting activities
- Physiotherapy (under the direction of a physiotherapist)
- General medical and dental care including hospital appointments
- Behaviour modification
- Social integration, including use of local community facilities
- Kitchen skills, cookery etc.
- Implementation of dietary programmes
- Literacy and numeracy programmes as appropriate

- To be responsible for the hygiene of the equipment, both educational and play. Many people with intellectual disabilities attending the service are susceptible to infection and require very high levels of hygiene.

- To be a link, under the direction of the Unit Team Leader, between the Unit and the Family.
- To maintain confidentiality in all dealings.
- To participate fully in regular staff meetings where all aspects of the Unit's functioning are discussed with a view to maintaining high standards, open communication among staff and good levels of staff morale.
- To participate as required by the Unit Team Leader in the planning, developing and implementing agreed individual and group programmes and become involved as in PCP reports and action plans.

The Support at Home service offers support to individuals recovering from illness or surgery and those facing a general decline in health. Support at Home is a 365 day a year, 7 day a week service. Typically, our shifts run between the hours of 7:30 am – 9:30 pm and are worked over a fixed fortnightly working pattern. This will include weekend and Bank Holiday rotas.
About this opportunity
As a Community Support Worker, you will get the opportunity to know people individually and support their wellbeing through both physical and emotional care.
Responsibilities can include assisting with medication and providing personal care such as washing and dressing, meal preparation and supporting with mobility needs. Help may also be needed to establish daily routines which may include household tasks and confidence building.
Depending on the individual, the level of support needed may vary but your focus will be on encouraging them to achieve or maintain independence, allowing them to remain living in their local community, in the comfort of their own home.
In this role you will build positive relationships with the people you support and encourage them to connect with their local community where possible, whether this be attending a club at the local community centre or planning to go shopping. Your support will enable them to regain or retain skills and achieve the goals set out in their care plan.

Job Purpose
To assist in the delivery of individualized community support to a number of individuals with intellectual, physical and mental health challenges. Supporting individuals to be valued members of their local communities. Supporting individuals to optimize their emotional, social, occupational and learning experiences, through programmes offered within community. This role will also involve providing 1:1 support to an individual with social activities as well as working with groups in the community.
What we're looking for:
Minimum of QQI Level 5 in Social Care, or equivalent
Full Clean Drivers Licence
Experience in the area of supporting individuals with intellectual, physical and mental health challenges.
Knowledge and experience of local community resources is highly desirable
Your Responsibilities
To plan, develop, implement, monitor and review appropriate educational, recreational and occupational programs within the community
To ensure best practice in line with up to date research regarding Quality-of-Life improvements.
To liaise with families, the multidisciplinary team and key community-based personnel in the pursuit of accessible community activities for service users.
