**A little bit more about your role in the team.**
Working as a graduate in our Mining team will mean that you contribute to all parts of the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure, supporting our clients move towards sustainable mining practices. This presents an opportunity to work on projects internationally learning from experienced colleagues at different stages of their career and with different areas of technical expertise.
**Projects**
Our teams have worked on some considerable projects, and you will be helping deliver projects such as:
+ Water balance models and water management plans for mining organisation in the UK and Europe.
+ Modelling for dam break assessments and evaluating their impacts on the environment and downstream communities for facilities in Europe.
+ Conducting detailed engineering designs of hydraulic structures for mine sites.
+ Operational and closure water quality modelling for mines around the globe.
+ Passive mine water treatment for abandoned historic metal mines.
+ Contributions to Environmental and Social Impact Assessments for projects in Greenland and West Africa.
+ Numerical modelling to update and refine existing mine models and assess inflow from planned mine expansions.
+ Evaluating potential options for a leading mining organisation to reach their water reduction targets across sites globally.
+ Designing and detailed hydrogeological field programme for feasibility studies and monitoring for mine sites in Europe.
**Our Mining Teams:**
**Mine Water**
The Mine Water team is formed of surface water, waste, groundwater and geochemistry professionals. Our clients are leaders in the mining industry and rely on our expertise to improve their site water management, protecting the people and the environment that they are situated in.
**Hydrology / Water Resource Engineering**
Graduates joining our Hydrology and Water Resource Engineering teams will predominantly support the team in a technical capacity to assess impacts and design solutions for water and drainage management.
Day-to-day activities could include:
+ Working with the team to develop hydrological models.
+ Developing Water engineering solutions.
+ Preparation of technical documents including descriptions of investigations, results, conclusions and recommendations under supervision.
**Hydrogeology**
Working as a graduate in this team will provide you with site working opportunities including domestic and international field visits
Day-to-day activities could include:
+ Sampling, monitoring supervision of borehole drilling and well installation and Aquifer testing.
+ Numerical modelling.
+ Groundwater analysis using a range of industry software (including FEFLOW, MODFLOW, HydroBench, AQTSOLV).
**Geochemistry**
Working as a graduate in this team will provide you with the opportunity to work on projects internationally, learning from experienced colleagues.
Day-to-day activities could include:
+ Working with the team to develop water quality and geochemical models.
+ Delivering mine water studies, including site samples of environmental media (soil, water, and rocks) and collection, validation, management, analysis and interpretation of geochemical laboratory and field tests and water quality data.
+ Input to technical reports, to be reviewed by senior staff with descriptions of investigations, results, conclusions and recommendations.
**Mine Waste**
Our Mine waste team provide advice and develop tailings and waste management approaches that align with evolving standards and best practices throughout the entire mining life cycle. Our technical expertise, global governance programs, and deep understanding of risk enable us to create innovative solutions that improve stakeholder outcomes.
We are seeking a proactive geotechnical engineer to work on dynamic international projects as part of our team.
Day-to-day activities could include:
+ Collaborating with a diverse team from concept through detailed design, engineering, and ongoing asset management.
+ Contributing to projects involving various geotechnical structures such as retaining walls, foundations, and earthworks.
+ Providing technical expertise in soil mechanics and engineering design, including 2D and 3D modelling using finite element and limit equilibrium methods.
+ Managing personal contributions to projects, supporting project managers by overseeing time, budget, and quality, and preparing technical documents such as reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, cost estimates, and risk registers.
+ Supporting clients in engineering problem-solving and construction of WSP designs in the UK and internationally, with travel as required by project needs.
+ Developing and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, representing WSP on site.
+ Engaging with the Mining Team's national and international networks, including participation in Europe's Mining Team meetings and calls.
+ Assisting in business development activities, including the preparation of technical proposals.
You will be embedded in an enthusiastic and supportive multidisciplinary team working closely with geotechnical engineers, resource geologists, surface water engineers and mine waste engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP's Mining and Metals business in the UK&I. This position would be involved in the delivery of mine waste projects domestically and internationally, supported by a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists. Members of the mining team come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring different experiences to the group. This diversity is seen as a strength of the team and valued within our business. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will go through an integration period that will enable them to familiarise themselves with the members of the team in the UK, Ireland, and further afield, as well as provide the team with an opportunity to learn more about them.
This is a leadership role with the UK and Ireland Mine Waste team (and globally), and the role will comprise a combination of technical leadership, project direction, business development, and client liaison. Your main responsibilities will include:
+ Deliver consulting services for mine waste projects, which may include the design and inspection of mine waste storage facilities, the construction of tailings deposits, stability and seepage analysis and closure design
+ Work as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientistsand modellers from conceptual design through to detail design and engineering
+ Provide specialised technical input focused on tailings management facilities, water impoundments, waste rock dump design, soil mechanics, soil improvement methods, geosynthetic materials engineering and related civil engineering work for projects worldwide
+ Lead and input into the design and assessment of mine waste facilities, including tailings facilities, water storage facilities, waste rock dumps and integrated waste facilities, from concept design stage, through detailed design stage and into the operational and closure phases of a project
+ Assist project managers in the successful delivery of projects by managing own involvement in projects, including time, budgetand quality control
+ Leading, mentoring, and working with a team of scientists, engineers, and other professionals within the Mine Waste team to support their career development, technical excellence, and commercial awareness.
+ Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities, and cost estimates
+ Provide technical direction and supervise junior and intermediate staff
+ Provide input to team strategy development
+ Participating in global corporate technical practice groups with the goal of elevating our technical excellence and visibility in the eyes of our clients.
+ Exciting opportunities to travel within Ireland and internationally to assist clients in solving engineering problems and support construction of WSP designs. Travel outside of Ireland will require overnight stays, and likely duration will depend on the nature of the project/client needs and project location
+ Develop and maintain good relationships with new and existing clients and be able to effectively represent WSP on site
+ Prepare proposals and technical reports

+ Substantial and broad experience in mine waste and tailings.
+ Commitment to internal and external client service
+ A proven track record in the delivery of large, multi-disciplinary projects on-time and on-budget
+ Excellent interpersonal skills with verbal and written communication skills with respect to technical, business development and strategy.
+ Degree qualified within civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology, with a strong emphasis on and proven ability in soil mechanics
+ Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations
+ Mining and geotechnical experience relating to mine waste disposal/facilities
+ The ability to interpret and monitor results and use a variety of tools to monitor and design geotechnical structures and assist clients with operational requirements
+ Ability to manage and work effectively within a team environment
+ Chartered professional with relevant body.

As a Project Director at WSP in the PMCM Rail team you will be responsible for leading the delivery of a single large, complex rail project or a programme of smaller rail projects, of regional, national, and international significance. We are seeking a **Senior or Principal Ecologist** to join our growing Nature Services Team in Naas and work on some engaging projects within a supportive team of technical experts.
We work closely with our sister office in Belfast to deliver a diverse range of projects, including nationally significant infrastructure projects, renewable energy projects, utility refurbishment projects and large Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) projects.
We collaborate with a range of interrelated disciplines including Biodiversity Net Gain and Natural Capital specialists, arboriculturists, landscape architects, hydrologists, environmental scientists and geotechnical specialists.

The Ireland Roads Team is seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes to work in either our Dublin or Limerick office. + Water balance modelling to assess water management solutions and to estimate water demand, treatment, storage, and discharge volumes;
+ Pre-feasibility, feasibility and detailed designs of water management infrastructure (e.g. open channels, sewers, culverts, spillways, energy dissipators, holding and settling ponds, pumping systems) including capital and operating cost estimates;
+ Dam break analyses of water and tailings dams, including developing inundation maps, delineating self-rescue zones and classifying dams in terms of risk to population, property and the environment; and
+ Dilution and assimilative capacity assessments of surface water receivers of effluent.
+ Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) design for land development projects;
+ Assist with developing projects and services which support climate change reporting, resilience and adaptation, including nature-based solutions;
+ Participate in and direct multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting projects, so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and WSP's standards.
+ Achieve and maintain a utilisation target to be agreed with your People Manager and reviewed annually or as determined by specific business need.
+ Undertake project-based travel and site work, working away in the UK, Europe and internationally. The frequency and duration of this will depend on business and client need.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:**
+ Bachelor degree in engineering, hydrology or a related field / postgraduate qualification in engineering or environmental management;
+ Registered Chartered/Professional Engineer or member of a related professional body;

Our Ireland Roads team is seeking a Deputy Project Manager/Principal Engineer with experience in the Roads Sector to be part of a team working on major national road schemes including the 85km A5 Western Transport Corridor, A29 Cookstown Bypass, N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project, and Public Transport schemes. The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking preliminary and detailed designs for major national Roads schemes and local authority transport improvements across Ireland
**A little more about your role.**
As Deputy Project Manager your role is primarily focused around delivering the core function of providing the project management support on Major Road schemes, including but not limited to delivery management of individual tasks, analysis and problem solving, preparation of briefing plans / progress reports, programme updates and monitoring and completion of financial administration such as in-month updates, month end reporting, and invoicing.
Other supplementary functions of this role will all be based around supporting the Project Manager in delivering the project. These activities will predominantly be focused on Business / Quality Management System processes and tools and could include contract, change, risk or resource management, earned value analysis, project reviews / audits or lessons learnt analysis.
There will also be an expectation that the deputy Project Manager will be capable of leading a team of project staff and, in doing so, provide professional / technical guidance and coaching to ensure that the appropriate skill / knowledge levels are achieved to drive an continuous improvement in our project management service.
The functions of this role are intended to be broad to provide the opportunity for a candidate to experience a wide range of activities under various skilled professionals in order to encourage their knowledge development and career progression. WSP are looking for a candidate who will take ownership of their own personal development in order to maintain and build professional capabilities, including identifying suitable training and development opportunities and working with a mentor to establish a career development plan.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in civil engineering or another appropriate subject and be a member of an appropriate professional engineering institution. Experience of working to UK or Ireland Roads standards is essential.
The successful candidate will be capable of working to tight project timescales, work comfortably under pressure and have an open and honest approach. Evidence of good communication and team work skills will be sought.
+ A degree in Civil Engineering
+ Incorporated or Chartered Status (AMICE/MICE/EI or equivalent) or equivalent demonstrable experience
+ Experience in Civil engineering or roads projects.
+ Be able to demonstrate clear and successful project management skills and technical competence in the field of highway engineering
+ Full driver's license
+ Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to push the boundaries of existing knowledge and the ability to take the lead outside of core discipline
+ Proven track record of dealing with Clients and forging effective relationships in a professional and customer focused manner
+ Experience of Contract Preparation and Contract Supervision using NEC forms of contract
+ Mentoring and guiding junior members of staff
+ Good written and oral communication skills are essential
