The Role:

The Maintenance Engineer will support the maintenance function to ensure all plant, machinery, and equipment operate at optimal levels for safety, efficiency, and quality. This is a permanent, full-time role on a rotational shift basis (morning, evening, and night shifts).

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities prioritise practical safety and minimise potential hazards for staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Maintain machinery and equipment to the highest standards, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, especially during specialist work such as hot work, working at heights, and confined spaces.
  • Maintain high hygiene standards within maintenance areas.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance to specification and complete repairs promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Record all maintenance work accurately on the CMMS with appropriate closeouts.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors and ensure compliance with site procedures and policies.
  • Keep production teams informed of any non-standard running machinery or planned maintenance work.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing maintenance and process improvements.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities and produce clear, high-quality documentation when required.
  • Maintain personal tools, work areas, and equipment in a professional and organised manner suitable for a food manufacturing environment.
  • Undertake training on machinery and processes to enhance technical knowledge and operational understanding.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Engineering Supervisor or Manager within the general scope of the role.

The Person:

  • Minimum 5 years' maintenance experience within food or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Ideally holds a degree in Engineering or possesses equivalent practical experience.
  • Confident, self-motivated, and capable of working independently under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible, team-oriented, and open to change and innovation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates pride in workmanship and commitment to continuous improvement.

The Offer:

  • Salary: €59,038 per annum
  • Shift allowance: 12.5% for evening shifts and 25% for night shifts

Requirements:

  • Level 7 Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background working with CNC machines and robotics.
  • Experience working with and mentoring technicians or apprentices desirable.

Role Purpose

  • Develops a close working relationship with client key stakeholders and all facilities management vendors to ensure that they fully understand the client culture and become partners in delivering a high-quality service
  • Has ability to address minor technical repairs and is first point of contact relating to all building issues including out of hours escalations
  • Point of contact for client to log issues
  • Monitor PPM schedules, O&M's, warranties, Task System, Asset & Life Cycle Registers
  • Responsible for Health & Safety during events, including contractor supervision, reviewing of H&S documentation

  • Facilities Management, Property Management, Construction Management or similar qualification desired, but not required.
