Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Technician to join our office-based team. This role will involve supporting the engineering and manufacturing processes, assisting in product design, and ensuring that technical specifications are met. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the design and development of new and existing products using CAD software. Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing. Work closely with the production team to ensure accurate interpretation of designs. Support the engineering team in resolving technical issues and improving product designs. Assist in the testing and validation of products to ensure compliance with industry standards. Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to provide technical support. Maintain up-to-date records of design modifications and engineering changes. Key Skills & Experience: Qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field. Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is essential. Strong technical drawing and design skills. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other engineering-related software. This role is critical in ensuring efficient plant operations through timely maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment in a fast-paced production environment. The Company A recognised name in the food processing sector, this company operates a modern, high-speed processing facility committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. With a focus on teamwork and operational excellence, the business supports professional development and technical innovation. As a result of ongoing success, they look to build their maintenance team further by employing a new Maintenance Technician to work in their factory in Co. Monaghan. The Role The Maintenance Technician will play a key role in the upkeep and reliability of machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity. The role involves a blend of reactive and planned maintenance, operational support, and equipment upgrades. Key responsibilities include: Performing planned preventive maintenance and logging data in the CMMS system. Troubleshooting and repairing PLC-controlled systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation equipment. Providing hands-on support to the production team to meet operational targets. Coordinating with suppliers for new installations, modifications, and parts procurement. Managing and maintaining tools, workshops, and spare parts inventory. Supervising and liaising with contractors and ensuring safety compliance. Supporting apprentice training and participating in cross-skilling initiatives. Complying with Food Safety, Health & Safety, and environmental regulations. The Person You are a technically skilled and self-motivated individual with solid experience in industrial maintenance. You have a strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-moving environment. You will bring: A technical diploma, degree, or trade certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering. 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Experience with high-speed production lines, conveyors, packaging equipment, or automated systems. Knowledge of PLC systems, including troubleshooting and basic programming. Familiarity with preventive maintenance strategies, CMMS, and Health & Safety practices (including LOTO). Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. A full driving licence and flexibility for on-call duties.
