**A little more about your role.**
The Ireland Roads team is seeking a Principal Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes to work in our Limerick (N/M20 Project office). The team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed designs for major national road schemes including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project, Public Transport schemes (including Cork BusConnects and Metrolink) and active travel schemes for the National Transport Authority and Local Authorities.
The candidate will be involved in the project management and technical delivery of schemes from inception through to the handover of the completed schemes to the clients. This role will primarily be client-facing and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivery of schemes in either the local, regional or national transport arena.
+ Managing projects to ensure coordination and compatibility of multi-disciplinary inputs on projects of varying scale, complexity and value.
+ Liaising with our clients, developing strong trusted relationships, proactively managing their expectations and comprehensively advising them.
+ Undertake project technical lead and reviewer roles
+ Using your technical ability and experience to develop our staff
+ Prepare fee proposals and manage budgets for individual projects.
+ Be responsible for the development and delivery of discrete and overall project solutions;
+ Lead and manage other staff members in the delivery of design drawings, standard construction details, specifications and bill of quantities, supporting the preparation of tender packages;
+ Responsible for compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and inhouse quality assurance standards/processes;
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ Project management and technical delivery lead of Road or Public Transport/Active Travel schemes, with experience of Transport Infrastructure Ireland/National Transport Authority/Local Authority procedures essential.
+ Experience of contract document preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts
+ A chartered member of a relevant engineering technical institution.
+ Experience or knowledge of alignment and drainage design software packages such as Civil3D/Open Roads and WinDes preferred, but not essential.
+ Good communication, client management and interpersonal skills are essential.
+ Excellent IT skills including MS Projects.
+ A thorough understanding and application of current design standards including; Urban Street and/or Active Travel Design (i.e. Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets - DMURS, The Traffic Signs Manual, the Cycle Design Manual etc.), Highway Geometric Design (i.e. Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications) and also TII and NTA Project Management Guidelines;

+ A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
+ Either Chartered or working towards Chartered status with the Institution of Engineers of Ireland or Institution of Civil Engineers or relevant Institution

+ Experienced in undertaking site inspections, test witnessing and reporting on same, and answering technical RFIs during construction.

Within this role you will be responsible for specifies instrumentation for biopharmaceutical process & utilities systems and supports all aspects of the site calibration program. Evaluates new instrumentation for functional equivalence to existing instrumentation. Supports authoring and maintains configuration specifications & standards for cGMP manufacturing instrumentation. As a Senior/Prinicpal Instrumentation Engineer, a typical day might include, but is not limited to, the following: Understanding of common process & utilities instrumentation including but not limited to load cells, pressure transmitters/gauges, pH sensors, dissolved oxygen sensors, temperature sensors, mass flow meters, UV analyzers, conductivity sensors, TOC analyzers and level sensors Evaluating & specifiying cGMP instrumentation for new installations & for the upgrade of existing instrumentation with additional functionality, including instrument components & spare parts Being the technical SME for the site calibration program, providing technical guidance to calibrations operations team and supporting regulatory body inspections and audits. Evaluating new instrumentation for Functional Equivalence to existing instrumentation that has become obsolete Implementing corrective/preventative actions for existing instrumentation Working knowledge of process automation control systems. Conducting troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex instrumentation and associated systems Creating and maintaining configuration specifications for cGMP manufacturing instrumentation Assisting in the design review of equipment, and approved supplier lists for instrumentation Reviewing and approval of wiring diagrams for instrumentation & associated control systems Preparing engineering evaluations and test plans for change control documentation.
