**Job Overview**
Working within the core Engineering group, and reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, the Engineering Manager will lead a team of Engineers and Technicians and be responsible for managing and supporting all engineering activity in areas of responsibility. + Management of engineering budget to include the assembly of yearly budgets, adhering to budgets, instigating cost improvement projects to reduce budget spend and management of the capital expenditure programmed for the Business Unit.
+ Leading the engineering team in process designs, development, continuous improvement and any engineering aspects of technology transfer projects from other business units/sites. Identify and put in place permanent and effective solutions to technical/system problems.
+ Champion compliance to TE Connectivity Medical, part of TE Connectivity systems and processes.
+ Manages external relationships with key technology providers.
**What your background should look like**
**Qualifications**
+ Level 8 Engineering degree, or equivalent.
+ 5-7 years' experience in a high-volume demanding production environment.
**Key Requirements**
+ Knowledge of Medical Device or similar quality and manufacturing systems would be very desirable.
+ A demonstrated ability to lead a focused production / technical problem-solving team.
+ Working knowledge of six sigma and/or lean engineering principles with a proven track record in use and delivery of results.
+ Excellent communication skills, both oral and written along with an ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and projects clearly and positively.

The role of Senior R&D Engineer I supports managing and delivering R&D activities associated with the lifecycle management of the portfolio of products for treatment of acute ischemic stroke with significant technical challenges. Overall responsibility for various aspects of the product's lifecycle including material changes, process improvement, regulatory submissions, shelf-life studies, responding to sales & marketing requests, and returned product investigations.

**A Day in the Life**
We are looking for a Senior R&D Engineering Manager to join our Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) team. The CAS R&D team is working on innovative products to advance Medtronic's ablation portfolio with Pulse Field Ablation (PFA).
The Senior R&D Engineering manager is a functional business leader responsible for R&D engineering team to execute critical development projects. You will be accountable for the engineering staff in Galway and are expected to create a high performing team culture. Additionally, you will formulate partnerships with cross-functional Core Team members to foster collaboration and cross-functional effectiveness. You will be the key champion in planning, directing, and coach team members. This position is hybrid with a 4 day per week onsite requirement.

**A Day in The Life Of:**
+ Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products
+ May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products
+ Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies
+ Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products
+ Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release
+ Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended
+ Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development
+ Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery
+ Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
+ Mentor team members to ensure each team member is fully engaged and contributing to project success
+ Champion product development best practices such as collecting high-quality Voice of Customer inputs, early risk burn-down and Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM)
+ 25% or less domestic/international travel
**Key Skills & Experience**
+ Level 8 Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 5 years relevant experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience
+ Experience of people management of engineers including 1-1's, performance review's, recruiting, disciplinaries, career development is essential
+ A dynamic team player and influencer and can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams
+ Excellent team building, communication, people management and management skills
+ Extensive Program Management skills are a distinct advantage
+ Dynamic team player and mentor and can work effectively and proactively on a global team
+ Experienced in the medical device market and have a proven result driven record of accomplishment
