Occupational Therapist Donegal Services, County Donegal Permanent, 19.5hours Job Purpose The purpose of this role is to deliver person-centred, evidence-based Occupational Therapy that enables service users to achieve their personal goals and maximise participation, independence, and quality of life. The post-holder will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, complete comprehensive assessments, plan and provide direct interventions, and offer ongoing coaching to staff to embed therapeutic approaches in daily routines. The role also contributes to service development, training, audit, and quality improvement so the organisation delivers safe, high-quality services aligned to best practice. Minimum Education & Skills required Relevant professional qualification in Occupational Therapy recognised by the Occupational Therapy Registration Board. Be registered on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. At least three years' satisfactory, full-time experience (or an aggregate of three years) working with people with intellectual & developmental disabilities; and/or people with cognitive disabilities (ABI / dementia); and/or people with dual mental health diagnoses; and/or people with physical or sensory disabilities Job Duties & Responsibilities Intake Assessment & Support Planning* - Help services identify people with occupational therapy needs and assess these needs prior to intake. Collaboratively design services and support packages that will effectively address these needs. Support service users and the staff that support them to identify personal goals and learning, social, emotional, cognitive needs. Co-produce clear, meaningful goals with service users ahead of planning meetings. Occupational Therapy Assessment* - Undertake appropriate and holistic occupational therapy assessments using validated tools appropriate to the population. Use multiple data sources: validated assessment tools, record reviews, working directly with the person (direct and indirect observation), functional task analysis, self-report interviews and surveys with person and other stakeholders where appropriate. Analyse and synthesise findings into an occupational formulation. Summarise the results of clinical assessments in professional and accessible reports in line with professional standards and the intended audience (plain English / Easy Read where needed). Implementation Support & Capacity Building:* Present recommendations in professional, practical and accessible plans and procedures in line with professional standards and the intended audience procedures (e.g., step-by-step guides, visuals, Easy Reads). Support staff to implement recommended interventions using a combination of formal training / instruction and side-by-side coaching, modelling & feedback. Verify competency, provide refreshers, monitor implementation fidelity and outcomes and make adjustments as necessary.
