- Highly motivated Engineer with previous consultancy experience
- Experience in Eurocodes essential
- Knowledgeable in finite element and frame analysis software for steel and RC frames, flat slabs, etc. (Tekla, SCIA, etc)
- Proficiency in Civil Design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage.

- Level 8 degree in relevant field (level 9 is advantageous).

- Engage in the recruitment process for engineers at all levels from Graduates to Lead Engineers. Engagement involves setting criteria for selection, developing Roles & Responsibility, interviews, selection, etc.
- Manage the Company People Platform (MPP) from all aspects of setting goals, compensation review, ratings, maintaining organisation chart, approving leave, etc.
- Ensure that the Engineering SOP's are robust, current, implemented & in use on projects and, where required, developed/implemented as needed.
- Engage with planning and construction in producing programmes/schedules, primarily advising on the design phased elements, material lead times and on an ongoing basis updating progress.
- Advise planning on any impacts that result from change management, issue, material delays and technical issues and potential mitigation.
- Engage in development of off-site workshops & assembles and sub-contractor schedules to ensure engineering input is captured.
- Oversee BIM involvement for engineering aspects.
- Ensure BIM queries/enquiries, such as Request-For-Information (RFI) posts on BIM360, are managed and responded to in a timely manner.
- Ensure the final handover requirements are to be considered in all the various steps associated with engineering from submittal to installation acceptance.
- Ensure all safety requirements are met and reiterate to engineering and site teams continuously the importance of same and in particular the new members.
- Engage with Offsite Site Assembly (OSA) and Offsite Site Manufacturing (OSM) to ensure engineering requirements are aligned prior to commencing, monitor during construction and meet handover requirements.
- All other tasks related to engineering role that is requested by the Engineering Manager.

About The Role
Reporting to the CSA Design Manager, the Civil Design Engineer will be a senior member of the Project Team.
You will have notable cross-discipline design and technical experience in addition to the ability to communicate and engage with stakeholders, at all levels as required. This will include managing design packages from initial review, through to assisting with estimation, procurement, planning and handover for execution on site. Team Management
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction managers to develop comprehensive project plans and ensure delivery on schedule.
- Collaborate with any other consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, estimators, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.
- Liaise with clients and other 3rd parties as required, such as insurance companies, vendors, etc.
- Develop comprehensive scope-of-works (SoW), task information deliverables list (TIDP), and responsibility matrices (R&R/ RACI) for civil discipline.
- Raise any design-related risks to planning, commercial and management, and establish a course to minimise their impact.
- Maintain accurate records of key design activities (eg. changes, issues) as they arise and escalate to management as appropriate.
- Assist the Central Engineering and site teams with proactive contributions to construction and team matters.
- Attend design related meetings and provide continual input for optimisation.

Project Management & Planning
- Oversee the construction process to ensure adherence to design specifications and schedules.

- Manage the deliverables and approvals processes of design packages to ensure full approval for procurement.
- Check design programmes on projects are aligned to consultant resource and construction/ procurement requirements.
- Conduct site visits and report progress and quality of work.
- Correctly follow information control and flow standards e.g. for RFIs, use of BIM360, etc.
Technical Engineering
- Ensure civil technical compliance on all projects.
- Ensure knowledge of client and country-specific design standards.
- Analyse and interpret geotechnical and SI reports and surveys.
- Assess coordination of civil with substructural design.
- Assess and mitigate potential risks and issues as they're identified in design, or that could have potential impact on construction activities.
- Review design proposals by others for suitability and constructability.
- Offer proposals for added value (VE) and off-site manufacturing (OSA).
- Utilize CAD and BIM software to create detailed civil design proposals for review.
- Ensure material choices are aligned to project requirements, budget, and QEHS standards.
- Prepare comprehensive handover packs to the site team for any packages under your responsibility.
- Coordinate and manage coordination of civil discipline and interfaces with MEP, structure and architecture.
- Check plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
- Manage, monitor, and interpret the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect.
- Identify requirements for statutory engagements and approvals on projects related to civil networks.

During your period as a Design Engineer with the company you will receive on the job training and take part in the CPD programme that occurs during Office hours. It is also expected that you will undertake CPD out of office hours by the attendance on lectures, seminars etc + technical reading.
Candidate Specification
- A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, 2-3 years postgraduate experience
- Committed to achieving Chartered Status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent
- An understanding of engineering principles and a strong technical focus
- IT skills – including MS Word, Excel, Project, civil design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Causeway Flow, MicroDrainage, TRIC's, Tuflow, EPANet and other design software
- The ability to identify and apply appropriate scientific methods to solve engineering problems plus knowledge of the limitations of established best practice as defined by Standards and Codes
- Under supervision plan and manage the use of human and physical resources for your projects
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Understanding of the Irish regulatory and policy issues
- Appreciation of the full Project Delivery Process including GCCC Contracts
- Commitment to CPD and competence.
