We currently have a requirement for a Data Scientist to join our New Abbott Diabetes Care Kilkenny site. The following is required for this role:
**What You'll Do**
As a key member of our team, you'll:
+ Provide real-time data analysis to support manufacturing operations-helping optimize processes, improve material performance, and enhance yield.
+ Develop documentation that maps critical quality attributes to manufacturing systems, ensuring traceability and compliance.
+ Maintain and enhance our Manufacturing Execution System (POMS), including database schemas, reports, and recipe configurations.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Engineering, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Purchasing to ensure timely and effective execution of initiatives.
+ Support site-wide reporting, including monthly metrics and quarterly product quality monitoring.
+ Independently explore and analyze large, complex datasets to uncover insights and support investigations.
+ Translate statistical findings into actionable business strategies.
+ Lead projects to advance statistical methodologies and contribute to the site's data strategy.
+ Provide mentorship and consulting on statistical tools and data analysis to junior analysts and engineers.
+ Build automated solutions to streamline reporting and analysis.
+ Communicate complex statistical results in a clear, compelling way to non-technical audiences.
**Education and Experience:**
+ A degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics) or equivalent industry experience.
+ Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft Access, etc.).
+ Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, C++, and R in Linux/Unix environments.
+ Familiarity with statistical software like JMP or SAS is a plus-training will be provided if needed.
+ Strong foundation in statistical concepts including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, time series, and SPC.
+ A strategic mindset with the ability to apply analytics in a business context.
+ Experience in manufacturing or working with Manufacturing Execution Systems is beneficial but not essential.
+ Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

You will join a team of data scientists and data analysts who are responsible for designing analytics that underpins our products. This typically involve exploratory data analysis, model development (Rule based & AI), model maintenance & Integration to product, compliance related activities, documentation Liaising/Coordination with different tech partners.
As a **Senior Data Scientist** , you will apply your expertise and skills to improve our value definitions, produce optimal design and build out our product design capability. In support of these goals, you will be conducting research and analysis, problem solving with the team, prototyping solutions, and reporting on our solutions. You will be part of a team supporting these goals as well.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Define analytics that underpins product design and contribute to various tasks related to it such as ideate, define & build related processes throughout product lifecycle
+ Research methods and solutions, analyze data, prototype solutions and critically evaluate designs to optimize product development
+ Advocate for both technical and procedural changes and shepherd them through to delivery
+ Ensure quality in design, coding outputs and artefacts produced
+ Collaborate with the team and partners to solve problems
+ Collaborate with other teams who will integrate prototype solutions into product delivery
+ Work independently and with focus when needed
+ Explore, analyze and interpret large datasets to identify patterns, trends and anomalies
+ Build data pipelines, models and dashboards to demonstrate value proposition
+ Maintain your knowledge of latest technologies and techniques relating to analytics and data science
+ Guide and support other team members

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in engineering, data science, computer science or a related field
+ A high standard of programming experience with Python ,PySpark and SQL
+ Experience using collaborative cloud-based environments such as Databricks and Azure
+ Experience building machine learning and prediction models
+ Experience with production system change delivery methods and techniques including Agile delivery framework, deployment practices, version control and testing practices
+ Experience with data analysis and problem solving
+ Knowledge of best practices for optimization
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with embedding analytics in commercial product development
+ Experience working on large scale and high impact projects
+ Experience leading process improvement/optimization activities
+ Ability to quickly build subject matter expertise
+ Familiarity with the HealthCare/Pharmaceutical industry
+ Masters degree or PhD in a technical field (e.g. computer science, science, engineering, math, statistics, physics etc.)

**Primary Responsibilities:**

**You are:**

+ Experience working with and creating data architectures.
+ Experience of clinical data and domains (Experience working within Clinical Trials or the wider Pharmaceutical industry) preferable but not necessary
+ Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
+ Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
